  • Welcome to Norfolk Southern's Juniata Locomotive Shop. At Norfolk Southern, we believe in ties that bring us closer together. Wooden ties on tracks that span 20,000 miles connecting us to ports, highways and warehouses and invisible ties that are just as strong connecting us to communities, the land and each other. This is one of those connections. Everything we do is connected. Let's all do our part to create a better world and let the people in our lives know that Norfolk Southern is in it for the long haul.

When you have an employer that has "Employee Empowerment" and are willing to listen, that's huge. As a Manager in my company that I work for, if you want to know what's going on and what's needed to make a safer and more efficient work place...listen to your employees and work with them just like they did with Woody Claar, good going!

Excellent video guys! Juniata is definitely a special shop, and I'm glad I was able to tour it once in the 1990s when it was still Conrail's.
I enjoyed seeing the new modular air brake setup for the locomotives. Very nice improvement from inside talent. Glad to see that the management is listening to the shop guys to drive improvements like this.
Also neat to see some "admiral" cabs being applied to the locomotives.

It's videos like this that prove my point when I say, "Norfolk Southern: The Next Generation Pennsylvania Railroad". Keep up the good work NS and keep those former PRR shops in Juniata open forever!

I salute the kicking horse (NS) for what they do and Juniata is an example of that.

Good to see the PRRs main loco production (when they didn't get baldwins and sometimes ALCO) is still making new locomotives from old stuff. And they make new things only they have just like the Pennsy with the DIY poppet valve gear!
