It's a concept that permeates many sports as well. In the basketball world we'd say it like this "leave it all on the court" meaning you give your best effort to win. This does a few things 1) You don't tend reflect negatively no matter what the outcome, giving you thick skin. 2) You have a level of acceptance with the outcome because you worked your ass off, therefore you can truly gauge where you are in the hierarchy of competition. 3) You have certified verified data with no second guessing, which can give closure to the competition, which gives you a roadmap on how you can improve for the next game. Just think of the game of basketball and how you play it as an expression of honesty of ability and effort and leaving it on the court becomes second nature. That's why I always encourage people I talk to, to get into some sort of competition the games within the game and things you learn about life go far far beyond points and wins, you get tools and skills that you'll use for life, roadmaps of how to become formidable in hierarchies of competition, after ascensions you can mentor others and raise the bar of the community you play in. It's a beautiful thing.

I think the jedi were fools to train their disciples to suppress the emotions that lead to the dark side. If they would have encouraged their padawans to integrate those emotions, They all could have been like Mace Windu, and maybe the jedi would have survived Order 66, or even prevented it in foresight of Darth Sidious.

      @panokostouros7609 5 ปีที่แล้ว +21

@@Kshesho Bingo. Jungian Shadow Integration should've been the central focus of the Disney Sequel trilogy.
The prequels established a highly refined, sanitized and dogmatic establishment of force users who've suppressed dark side influence so much that it only took a couple crafty Sith to bring everything into complete disarray and create an oppressive empire out of the shambles.
The original trilogy flirted around Shadow integration in Episodes 5 (Luke destroying a shadow version of Vader revealed to show himself in that avatar) and 6 (Luke refusing to give into Palpatine's Dark Side temptations and forgiving the downfall of his father and past) but never dealt with it sufficiently.
Rian Johnson hinted at a little bit of Shadow Integration in Episode 8 with Luke almost killing his nephew and abandoning his Dark Side all together. Now I still think there's hope for Disney depending on what they decide on doing in Episode 9, but it's a real shame they didn't go down this route at the beginning as it would've literally balanced the Force and the franchise.
Regarding the prophecy set forth in the prequels, recall this quote from Master Yoda in _Revenge of the Sith_ , "A prophesy, that misread could have been."
*PT (Pure Order and Light, thousands of generations of Supressed Shadow), Order Reigns*
*OT (Struggle to Survive and take down Oppressive Darkness resulting from Suppressed Shadow), Chaos Reigns*
*ST (Confront and Finally Integrate Suppressed Shadow bringing the Force into balance), Order & Chaos coexist*

Your dark side isn't always dark. People prefer to know where they stand with people. It takes practice even if you don't FEEL assertive especially in certain power dynamics. There's a thousand videos on youtube with dollar store jungs talking about shadow work. Are you willing to go address your childhood trauma? Maybe you were neglected or witnessed violence. You became conflict avoidant. Healthy angering, therapy, forcing boundaries help. Even writing notes to yourself when around forceful people. It does take work, but you can get to a better position of negotiating. If you're dating or working with a manipulative person it won't end well. Just move on and protect yourself. No matter what any clown on youtube tells you, you know yourself and the last person you should bully is yourself.

"...a spirit of ignorant humility...." - what a brilliant piece of wisdom and good example to follow. Resentful? "...grow the hell up...." - how many of us need to hear that of remind ourselves of it? Deal with the problems or else the worst may come. So much more here but thanks for this pick PI. good video spot.
Actually forgetting to heartily concur with the use of aggression in the correct circumstances for the right reasons. Without it, very badly behaved, aggressive people would dominate the world and make all of it a place of misery...as has happened in history over nations and empires for extended periods.

Being assertive is not being a monster. If you get to that monster phase it just shows how umbalanced you are. No one has the right and should have the power to make us lose our minds. We shouldn't give that power to anyone or anything. Not easy of course, it's a learning process. The strenght comes from self control.

To be contained is to allow the bomb to pressurise and in the end the destruction is always worse then of you had simply bit the bullet and had that conversation or confrontation but fear is the biggest most powerful emotion and it leads to destruction. Good video and I really do hope I can overcome the worst of myself so that I can at least have a leash on it when it arises. It's the facing of the matter that is the most difficult and at times impossible feat. All in the matter of the mind - the most powerful force next to fear. For love is healing but fear will drive that love clear away and that is the sad horrible truth.

More people need to be open about discussing their darker side. You can have immoral thoughts and views while being aware that the thought, view or opinion is immoral. That's how they can be confronted. I didn't realise for a while how many selfish, unsympathetic things I was suppressing until I started confronting my dark side. I could think something awful, realise it's awful without it affecting how I handle or respond to the situation. I can be aware of the immoral parts of me without acting on them.

That was a great explanation of the shadow and why it's useful to do it and in some extent how to do it but he didn't really answer the question of how he's done it personally which is fair because he is wildly misunderstood and making himself more vulnerable than he has in the past doesn't benefit him. It might also rob the people who asked that question how the opportunity to come up with a solution that works for them hence why he would never answer such a question in a deeply personal manner.

I would rather follow the advice of Jiddu Krishnamurti: "It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society."
Robin Williams has more wisdom in his words: "I used to think that the worst thing in life was to end up alone. It's not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people who make you feel alone." “Don’t associate yourself with toxic people. It’s better to be alone and love yourself than surrounded by people that make you hate yourself.” It is better to be alone than to be in a bad relationship. Marriage is all about solving problems that you did not have before you got married. What's only 3 inches long but never stops pleasuring a modern woman?

What if a person is capable of murder, but chooses not to murder due to the negative consequences of a lifestyle change, not because they are a good person? Self-preservation being a major driving force.

    • @motoosoteo6219

@@elisadoyle91 I guess what I'm saying is does the ability to restrain one's self from their impulses make them a good person. From a society aspect I would say yes, but if there were no negative consequences would that individual act on those impulses making them a bad person. If the goal is inner mastery how much of it is self-driven as opposed to societal-driven. And does that matter, or just the results matter.

    • @upsurgeagency3593

@@motoosoteo6219 I guess it depends on what's most important to that person, how strong their murderous impulse is and their ability to manage it.
If they act on their impulses (without a justifiable cause) then they go to jail...and rightfully so.
If they repress these impulses (with no outlet for this brand of aggression), the impulse may consume them.
If they say..joined some special military force (where their murderous impulse is an asset) then they have a means of (perhaps) giving this impulse an outlet, a means to routinely manage this destructive impulse (in a controlled environment) and gives them a way to use this impulse to be of "service" to society (as oppose to going to jail).

Like Dante Alighieri and Darth Revan one must journey into the dark side to find one's true self.
The longer this video plays the more I hear the Holy Spirit using Dr. Peterson to rightfully accuse me of all my sins. Resentment is a demon I realized now exists. Resentment is a cruel demon who tricks one to lash out at loved ones.
