Gotta say man I’m so glad I stumbled across this channel. I recently just bought my own ‘79 928 that’s been sitting for about 5 years and watching these videos has helped me soo much.

awesome progress. truly inspiring sir... thankyou for filming... anyway.... that original color... like a dark chocolate brown... my hometown dentist drove one in the mid 1980s era.... was the coolest chocolate brown i ever saw... Dr Kaske, Twin Lakes, Wi. usa.... he also raced Porsches.. i walked by it weekly in High school... drooling.... the coolest color on a 928... trust me...

Hi Stephen- thanks for your comment:) so nice to hear stories of past 928 memories! I also love the retro colours but feel I would appreciate the car more in a brighter colour (light green?). Anyway, still trying to decide…. Thanks for watching :)

5:48 is the auxiliary air valve that goes under the facehugger/spider on the drivers side. Worth putting power to it and making sure the valve slowly closes.

Thanks Gary. I think I also have a spare one - will test next video :)

9:05 if I remember correctly in my 924 this connector works as power output energising when starter is working and is connected straight to ignition coil bypassing coil resistor, giving more"juice" to the coil when cranking. It may work similar in your car.

Moving along quickly now. The one hose/pipe with a smaller hose inside is NLA. If you need to replace it you can simply use two hoses but maybe yours is okay.

Is that the 3rd thing I took out of the box? Fairly rigid plastic hose ?

@@MrToddgibbs Yes! Third one out of the box. They dry up and crack over time.

Hi Todd, you're making great progress and getting the engine back in was a milestone. Watching your progress with interest, bench parts, the tubes on their own I think are for the oil cooler, the connections looked about right for that. The other tube mess you had was probably part of the vac system. Certainly on the S4 it goes from the brake servo around the engine and to the HVAC, not sure about your model. Look for all your vac switches and test each one and when the system is connected you will need to check that it holds vacumn. Look at Renlist for a diagram. Carry on doing a great job.

Thanks David, very useful! Im currently trying to source new pipework for that tangled mess (2nd on the bench). Slowly getting there!

Great progress, good to see the starter motor working. Good indicator for other parts which might be in good condition as well. Best wishes from Germany

Small question, I'm doing more of a poor mans rebuild where I try to salvage as much as possible. Now I would like to look at the injector spray and see if it is good or not. How would you recommend taking it out? Screw it out with the aluminium bushing, so leaving it in the maybe brittle rubber, or pulling it from the rubber? I prefer to just be able to put it back if the injector is good enough.

To be honest, why not run the engine and see how it is:.. that would be cheapest :)

@@MrToddgibbs ah yes well it isn't running and has been standing for 20 years or so. So was just wondering if there was a non destructive way of getting them out, maybe screwing out the aluminium could simply be put back in idk.
