    Genius. I have been making separate mixes for each and trying to keep up with both. I had thought of matrix mixes as "stripes" like you could mix all of the drums on aux 1 and the guitars on 2... and then recombine them for different outputs. This approach could help a lot!

    THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I now have a good starting point for using a matrix. I'm inheriting a soundboard set up and it's done using a separate mix bus for the live stream and it is WAY too quiet. I'm using an Allen & Heath QU-32 and I was curious about the matrix, and now I see how I can do this the right way.

    You could just send your channels to a bus mix "post fader", so every change you make in the house reflects in the stream.

    • @KevinGerhart1701
      @KevinGerhart1701 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is exactly what I do. I set my teaching mics at +5, and my instrument and vocal channels to -10 or so. I set all the channels as POST FADER on my "broadcast" bus, that way as I turn channels up and down in the house, it happens proportionately on the broadcast. If I have a crowd mic, I unselect that channel from the L/R and M/C, that way turning the crowd mic up and down ONLY effects the broadcast.
      This Matrix idea is interesting though.

      Yeah but some elements you dont want in the room but needed in the stream like ambience or drums in a small church.

    Using the matrix for the extra bump for the softer volumes is a very interesting idea. Thanks for sharing this!

    Is it possible to do a matrix that combines L/R and a bunch of stage monitor mixes. Is there a way to pan a mixbus to only one side? Like the guitar monitor to only come out of the left speaker for livestream matrix mix

    What is the difference between sending the audio through a bus or a matrix? Right now I have our church's online audio fed into the cam through the bus sends.

    Something A little different that sounds like I need to use a matrix, but unsure of the set up.
    WHile I would love to be able to adjust single fader and make it work in house and on the stream. We use acoustic instruments, guitar, Baby Grans Piano etc. While the Piano for the sanctuary is lower I need it higher for the mix. Would this same process work?

    Hello, great video and thank you so much. Im wondering how to run stereo monitors to 5 members on a x32 producer. Yes the producer only has 8 xlr outs and 2 are obviously running my mains.

      Get a Behringer's XD8 which will give you 8 inputs and outputs

    This is very interesting and I want to give it a try. My only question "so far" is how do I get the new matrix mix to be my output for the stream. I send my LR mix to vMix so would the new mix be on a different set of channels? thx

    • @KevinGerhart1701
      @KevinGerhart1701 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You would go to "Routing." On the "Output" tab select one of the outputs and assign the Matrix to it.

  • @Emkaiii
    @Emkaiii 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would the matrix channel need to be routed to a mix bus out? Or do you continue to mix on the mix bus channel (add LR)

    • @igooog
      @igooog ปีที่แล้ว

      You can route matrices as the output source in the Routing menu

    Been an audio engineer for many years now. I've been touring with a couple of Rock bands. I've worked on and also toured with many digi boards. No one has gave me much prob. Recently we were on a tour and our "FOH" board decided to "quit"on us during set-up.We got a local vendor to provide us with a digi board. And that"monk"brought us this insane "Lego" set called X32. I have to be honest, It is truly an "Adult Lego" set. This could be one of the worst boards I've ever come across. 😪. One will literally have to go all over the world just to organise your mix. Plus god knows? they have repetitive options which does the same thing?!!.It's like driving a car with two steering wheel?. We are on the road,we don't have much time at most gig's or venue. I have to take my hats of to Behringer X32. It probably should be ranked as the no1 sound engineer "nightmare"when it comes to digi boards.

    How can this be done in the Behringer XR18

    • @igooog
      @igooog ปีที่แล้ว

      XR18 doesn't look to have matrices, but you should be able to route mix busses to outputs for almost the same effect.

    Just send the vocals at +5dB and your music elements at -10dB. DONE!

      That is exactly what I do. Set the channels on the broadcast bus to POST FADER and the changes in the house happen proportionately in the broadcast

    I don't understand this video.
    Common sense would say, set up a separate mix for you broadcast and have someone mix that Live.
    If you have a sound engineer in the venue, mixing for the venue, it is not logical to have "the same" person make adjustments for Broadcast/overflow etc. If you have an X32, get someone else on an IPAD mixing for Broadcast (in another room of course as there will be a delay) and get another person on another tablet mixing for overflow.
    Am I the only one seeing this Logic?

    • @crzzzr1
      @crzzzr1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Ideally yes a separate mix engineer, however not everyone has the staff to run both a FOH mix and broadcast mix. Matrix mixes are one way to deal with that.

      @@cooperarbogast4018 same. It’s a good way for churches who don’t have a ton of sound guys or money for iPads etc to get a solid stream mix. You can take it a lot further than in this video. Check out James attaways video on matrix groups.
