I’m at the end of my tether in pain with an ongoing 30 year I believe grade 3 sprain. Currently can’t sleep, pain is unbearable and if I could I’d electively consider amputation to be pain free. Sad old world isn’t it. But watching this has given me a glimmer of hope. Thank you so very much 😂

I rolled over my ankle and got a sprained ankle while stepping out the one foot tall wooden deck into the lawn last night. It was such a silly mistake but I must say I was multitasking and not present mentally. That cost me whole night alone in the ER on a wheelchair, xray was performed right away, then wouldn't say anything neither discharge me. At last I checked out without saying anything. Totally immobilized. Later in the morning, I reviewed my X-ray results, it was all okay, some soft tissue swelling. It's def btw 1-2 grade ankle sprain. Performing RICE religiously and started to feeling better after 18 hrs.

Love this helpful advice. Found it super interesting to watch, maybe because of the selection of professionals giving sound advice. Thank you for answering my question of should I be completely resting it or just keep getting up when needed ( mom of 3 boys) so complete rest is impossible. It reminded me to elevate my leg when I am resting which is something I’ve forgot to do. Thanks again for the great advice

So I think I sprained my ankle a few weeks ago on the tennis court, I was just getting over the flu and I tried to play whilst all my muscles were still very sore and weak.
I hit a few serves and then pop, but there didn’t seem to be much swelling or any bruising, just sharp pain!
What hurts the most is the ankle bearing weight in plantar flexion, occasionally I accidentally jerk it or step funny and I’ll get a sharp pain and won’t be able to lift my foot as it feels seized until I manually adjust it and it kinda feels like it pops back.
It’s painfully depressing being partially crippled by an ankle injury but I think what’s worse is not knowing whether it’s worse and your (they can be brilliant) nhs palming you of with “rest it and ibuprofen, and see the gp if it still hurts in 2 weeks”.
I’m only 33 and played sports my entire life, never use the health service for anything but the one time I feel something is very wrong and go.

This is not correct. The video and explanation are clear. Ice reduces swelling, bleeding in the immediate aftermath of an injury. After a few days when the immediate inflammatory phase has ended then you are correct and icing should not be carried out at this point. But for immediate emergency care, ice, ice, ice....

Make sure you dont put the ice onto the skin. You need to put them into a pillow case cover and apply gently for 10-20 minute intervals.
