- The purpose of me requesting they react to songs like these is just to expose them to music they may or may not have heard before, to expand their horizons and to sate my curiosity over whether they will like them or not. As such I don't really care about likes/dislikes on these video postings or even the popularity of my channel or theirs for that matter.
Also nothing is monetized on my channel so I make no money from posting them, they do these for me and I just post them here in case other people are curious what they think of these songs too after they send me them and I have watched them myself. Prince wrote the song in the early 80s and a group called The Family recorded it first. Years later Sinead took the song and masterfully re-did it and made it 100x better, much better than Prince’s version. This is a Grammy-winning song/album of Sinead’s and she is an incredible singer, and incredible songwriter in her own right.
100x better? How did you calculate that? It's a subjective thing & can't be quantified. There are those who believe that Prince's version is better.
Well imo Prince and The Family versions are wayyyy better than her version. And Prince hated the fact that she covered this song.

With respect to Prince, Sinead, who transformed this into a masterpiece, owns the song much like Joe Cocker owns “Little Help from my Friends” and Johnny Cash owns “Hurt”.
The NIN version is way better. People only say they like Cash's version better because his wife just died. His version sucks the more you listen to it.

You dont have to dislike Sineads version to do a homage on Prince. He was actually wrong to stand against Sinead. Prince is a composer, a stage artist, but Sinead is a better interpreter of music, and as much as I think Prince is the legend he deserves to be, Sinead is an equal queen in the aggregate, its just a lot of people dont really know Sinead, her composing phase, and her struggles. its really naive to just "side" on Prince just because... its not like Sinead just stole it and ran with it, she was already a legen before she sang that song, it was just no one knew her because MtV was a big thing back then.
He was wrong for not wanting another artist to cover a song he wrote? How Sway How, that's like if you have a kid and I come by and say he I like your kid and want your kid to become my kid and take them away from you. And the government is on my side instead of yours. Artist should never cover another artist song unless they ask permission and that artist says it's ok. The only reason why she was able to cover the song was because Prince didn't own his masters and Warner Bros. did and they were going through contract dispute which is why Prince wrote the word slave on his face cause they owned his masters, which meant they owned his music and his name just like a slave master owned their slaves during slavery.
@@kaula300 Its ok if you dont want someone to sing your song, and artists are always nice enough to ask, even if just between record labels, which are 99% of the time the owners of the music rights if you didnt know. What is not nice is being public about it and create a feud. And you are wrong, you can sing any song you want, and the government can't do anything about it except force you to pay royalties to the composer or the owner of the rights. So I guess the government is on my side, not yours.

This is not the redo..prince wrote it and gave it to her. Later prince did sing it. When he died she asked for total rights and family refused to give it to her and took her right away.
