I just wish they didn't double the hell out of her voice for the studio and music video version on the song. She has such an amazing voice, I never understood why they had to overproduce it like that. I prefer her live performance, that said; the video is absolutely beautiful.

I'm from Ireland. If Sinead had come out with this track in the 2010's she'd have been applauded. Sinead called the church out before it was the thing to do. Instead, she got blacklisted.

The first time I heard this song, back in the early 90's I cried as you did. It's powerful, intense. The album "The lion and the cobra" as a whole is well constructed. Please, listen to it carefully and with closed eyes.

Years ago, when this song first came out, I listened it about 200 times after my fiance and I broke up, with tears streaming down my face because the emotions her voice and Prince's lyrics and music convey tapped into my heart. It helps a person through a painful time. Such an emotional song.
My boyfriend cheated on me when I was 18. Later I found out I was pregnant by him. We had broken up because of the cheating but once this song came on in my car and he said, “This song is so true for me with you.” Such a great song.

I can tell you are a kind and compassionate soul. I was thinking when you started "I wonder if she has her tissues handy?".. :) Her mom had a mental illness who emotionally, physically and sexually abused her and her siblings for years until her estranged father sued for custody. She had never resolved that pain, anger and rage, and that is what she is in touch with in this video. I am so glad you picked up on the magnitude of the first line. If someone were to say “It’s been 15 days and seven hours…” it does not sound as important as “It’s been seven hours, and fifteen days…”. If you are watching the clock so closely that the minutes and hours are so excrutiating, the 15 days might as well be a drop in the bucket, because every minute feels like eternity.
Do you want to hear the worst part dear? The whole country here in the USA made fun of her for this. National television, she was made a joke of. She was known as a gag joke. Still is. And now she’s dead. She even got boood off stage because of her hair and her convictions of humanity and how things should be.
