  • Here's a list of some cheap used sport bikes you should avoid as a new rider. I like all of these Sport Bikes, but not for new riders.

My channel is about motorcycles. Specifically sport bikes, but I love any and all motorcycles. If you're into motorcycles too, welcome to my unique take on motorcycles and the motorcycle lifestyle.

I am a new rider at age 71. I just bought a Honda Rebel 500 and I love it. The Rebel doesn't seem to be the kind of bike you feature on your channel but I really love your presentation style and great knowledge of motorcycles. Your enthusiasm is very contagious. Congratulations on your great channel you deserve the growth you are seeing. PS: I really enjoyed seeing some videos featuring your mother. She is a great sport. God bless, ride safe.

Let me tell you, I bought the ZX12R brand new and still have it! It's reliable as all get out! Its fast, great power and stable! Those who had had a ZX12R will know! The reason it a bit heavy, is for the stability at very high speed. It ain't no touring bike either! I have a GTR1400 for that. Ive done some high miles when it was my only bike, my wrist and back side was barking a bit. But it was still awesome!

100% i also had a a1 galaxy silver 12r, bought it from a ex police officer lol
Amazing bike, i did the works to it and is still a empty spot nothing else will fill.
I searched for about 8 months trying to be patient but never found what i was aftef. I ended up on a 09 zx14. Yes the 14 is noticeably heavier than a 12r, imo the 12 feels light to me and always has but the 14's low speed maners are heavier. I'll also add that i thought the 12r had amazing torque down low but the 14 stomps harder than my old 12r. The extra cubes are noticeable, I'll also say that the topend pull feels stronger and i didn't think that was possible especially with what i had done to it, I'll say that although the 14 can handle really well, i had my old bike setup to be a very quick streetbike and it handled like a dream although suspension was oem/modified.
Keep the 12r foreverrrrr, i wish i did lol

@@hollowsesh90 no doubt! Im just had the quick shifter installed and the head gasket replaced. Just bought new tires and front and rear wheel bearings. I also bought the PC V . The brakes are getting done as well. Yeah, it just one of those bike imo. It just does it! I had it since brand new.

Not sure how you can recommend against bikes that you know very little about. My ZX7R is 27 years old and I have it in my possession for 23 years. Very reliable. Still absolutely love it. And with the right tyres, it handles extremely well and can still compete with modern bikes, despite its weight of around 230kg. For fast road use, or on a track. I'll admit that it might not be the best bike for new riders, because of the furiousness of the carbureted engine. It packs a mean punch.

Avoid anything with carburetors unless you want to become very intimate with carburetors. You mentioned a Honda F4i is a good beginner sport bike. That would be an excellent choice! An F3 on the other hand… not so much. You will have 4 individual carbs to work with when the needle and seats and/ or O-rings go bad. And believe me, they WILL go bad. I owned one of those bikes, ask me how I know. Great video! Keep up the good work.

Any fast liter bike is not a great idea for a new rider. There are some exceptions, but for most new riders you’re dancing with disaster. Build your skills before you jump on a 150+ mph rocket. Plus, younger riders pay a premium for insurance. Your 600 cc recommendation is spot on.

I’d like to add the 16 Suzuki Bandit 1250s abs as an honorable mention. Discontinued completely, parts are limited to OEM so yes the Suzuki tax. Aftermarket parts are extremely limited, most are only for the 07-11 models not the 16 model. It’s 550lbs wet and sits pretty tall so not ideal for anyone 5’6” or under. It has no gear indicator, the turning signals crush the fairings if they get pushed in (horrible design). It’s heaps fast which will get the blue boys on you and has very soft suspension making turning much more sluggish at speed. And yes this is the bike I learned to ride on, should have bought an R6 instead but I didn’t have another 4k.

The zx12r is the dad to the zx14r. It is heavy but they were efi which was good.
The thing you missed which should be on this list was the Honda 954rr. Great bike bit expensive for parts at this point and has entered that collectable position along with the 929rr.
Other options as bad first bikes for similar reasons as listed here...
    Suzuki SV1000
    Honda Superhawk
    Suzuki TL/TLR
    Kawasaki ZRX1100/1200
    Honda CBR1100XX
    Kawasaki ZX11/ZZ-R1100
All of these bikes are great, many of theme are getting to the collector level, most of them are going to have part sourcing tax put on them, but all are also awesome bikes.
It is getting sad going to bike events and never seeing any of these or any in recognizable condition.

The rc51 is a Sp1 and upgraded Sp2 in Europe as we used the WSB designation of the bike. Rvt I think is an US market. But these bikes didn't sell well over here due to the price and are now sought after and bringing good money (the sp2 more so than the Sp1) especially if you can find sn Sp2 in Colin Edwards castrol WSB colour scheme.

Good choice! I have a 05 ZZR600 they’re great bikes, the only thing you have to keep an eye on is the fuel delivery system. The fuel pump relay can need replacing, symptoms including the engine bogging down while acceleration, and engine stalling while riding… learned the hard way. Also.. Carburetors. If you let the bike sit for a while, add fuel stabilizer. Otherwise the carbs will become moody… Apart from that, cheers! Enjoy one of the last carbureted 600cc middleweight Japanese sport bikes of the 2000s!

My first bike was a gsxr 750 , I bought it new in 1993 . What a heavy and slow pig , but it was bulletproof and dependable

I know a guy with a RC51 in great condition if you want me to reach out. He loves it but although he always knew it wasn’t a proper liter bike being a v twin but when he rode his first Ducati 1199 & newest bike he was blown away at how much quicker it was and I think he kind of ruined the rc51 for him.

Funny. I had a 97’ ZX7R I bought for 4K. I put 4K into it. Sold for 4K. Lost 4K. Fun nostalgic bike, yet uncomfortable and unreliable due to age! I took it to Biketoberfest in Daytona for Halloween 21’

Bro the triumph daytona 675 is the most beautiful 600cc class sport bike ( my opinion ) I heard that that bike is pretty reliable and quite easy to fix parts for it. Where did you hear it isnt reliable?

I love the 954rr. It was my first bike and was totaled due to n00b crashing into me. It's light and fast.

I heard of phone cameras being messed up from motorcycle vibrations. I only have the moto key, not even a ring.

Got the vfr 800 as my first bike 😂🔥 amazing bike but it’s fucking heavy. I’m a shorter rider so I’m having troubles w/ that but other than that I love it

My advice is if you just want a bike buy one with a make that has the closest dealership to your residence just for the sake of making things easy for yourself, be it second hand or new.

The mille is a tank(reliable), parts are not abundant by any means, but you can get pretty much anything from UK, and apparently I can get some parts locally (EU-based). But yeah, I'm glad it wasn't my first bike, it's a bit harder to work on. And don't sleep on the ZX12-R, its a fucking missile 😅

A RC51 is a horrible first bike One won’t regret owning lol. Love that bike but the range is horrible, super uncomfortable and crazy low end easily putting you upwards, my first bike was a modded super chicken. What a horrible Bike to learn on I Miss sooooo much.
