    This is a beautiful build - thanks for sharing it. I’m going to create something similar, but plan to add a (removable, though I haven’t decided how to make that work yet 😋) cabinet around/over the machines. I was initially going to just create a cabinet in order to a) have a counter, and have a basket storage storage next to it, but this is a better use of space, will feel better on my back, and will look much fancier. Really nice work!

    Nice build! If it is not up against walls on either side then you definitely should add cross bracing of some sort along the back - as it is there's very little preventing left/right movement which will happen with washers and dryers. For starters the back edge vertical 2x4's should be turned 90 degrees to help, and then run two 45 degree bracing pieces to reinforce further.

    Have you noticed any noise difference from the washer and dryer being on this platform? I could see the vibration from the washer and dryer resonating with the wood and making them louder than when they are sitting on a concrete floor. Thanks.

    Our machines are on the risers they came with now but shake soooo much. Would this help you think? Our machines are level and shipping bolts are removed. Either they’re not in the risers right, it’s because they’re on our second floor, or, they just are naturally violently shaky machines but I’m wondering if it’s worth us trying to build a solid shelf for them haha

    I am new to woodworking this actually the 1st thing i am building for my mom. Can you confirm how many sheets of plywood and mdf you used. Looking at the plans from the link its states 1 sheet of 3/4 4x8, 1/4 ply or mdf 4x4, and 1/2 2x4 Just confused on if i can't do math or if one sheet of 1/4 4x4 makes the 4 sides and drawer front panel or if its a mistype on the plans. Same for the 3/4 top and shelf bottoms. It appears you used 2 separate sheets for the this in the video.

    • @HousefulofHandmade
      @HousefulofHandmade  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are three thickness differences in the plywood. So you will need three separate sheets. The sizes listed are the smallest sizes you can easily purchase. I buy full sheets of plywood typically because the value is so much greater and then use the excess in future projects. If you are just starting out chances are mistakes will be made and having extra wood will be helpful too :)

    Ok. I built this. Follow all the instruction. I hate this base. First of all, u mentioned at the end thay u just made a hole in the back for the vent. That sounded so easy. No!!!! The stand is exacyly for the washer and dryer, there is no extra room. So I dont know where u just made a hole and thats it. I had to put extra support o bc the hole was in the frame.
    Secobd problem. My washer moves and I am afraod it will fall anytime.
    The weight of both washer and dryer are too much for this.
    I am taking it out and throw it in the garbage once I figure how to bring everything down.

    Very impractical. MDW and moisture is not a good combo. And if you ever tried to move just the washer in order to do the necessary cleaning behind it, replace a vent or water hose or do anything else, try doing it when you have to move one platform with both machines on top. No appliance service person would attempt to work on the equipment in this config.
