In this video we explored the ancient town of Hoi An in Vietnam. We went for a nice bike ride to the beach and later on walked around the main part of town and had a nice boat ride. Hoi An was easily the busiest place we visited during our time in Vietnam but we still had a good time and it is definitely very unique it its appearance.

It’s a tourist place but I like that because... many really nice little hotels, many nice restaurants, local people are nice and used to dealing with foreigners, the old town is pedestrian friendly and no cars

Cua Dai means "large port" with Cua meaning opening or river mouth. It was the ancient port of Champa, the polity that preceded Vietnam in central VN. My 1973 M.A. thesis reconstructed in economy. Ba Mu is also likely of Cham origin, with Mu meaning "mother" in the Cham (or Chamic) language. The area around Hoi An and particularly upstream from there was the center of most powerful valley states of Champa.

I'm having a second thought about visiting Hoi an. It's just too overcrowded with tourists for my taste. If that's what low season looks like there I can't imagine high season.
Andi Saputro It’s filled with Chinese tourists nowadays, but they make incredible income for locals anyway.
Last visited Hoi An 2 years ago, and I don’t plan to go back. It was great 15 years ago, but now days once the tour buses roll in during the afternoon, it starts to look like Times Square with all the tourists. There are many other places to visit in Viet Nam where you can enjoy the beauty of Viet Nam and it’s wonderful food, culture, and people without bumping into someone every time you turn around. BTW: I would also suggest that you avoid Saigon (HCMC) with all its crowds and scamming....and I would not spend more than 2 days in Hanoi. Check out and enjoy the countryside and smaller cities...Nha Trang, Da Nang, Da Lat, Hue, Sapa, Phan Thiet, Ninh Binh, Tam Coc, etc.

Most of what you see here is NOT Hoi An....Hoi An is a village that you can walk in for 30 minutes. Hoi An itself is Vietnam's number one tourist trap, followed by district 1 in Saigon. The beach that you see is not Hoi An, it's part of An Bang, which is not that close to Hoi An.

haha yeah always liked using the gopro because i can put it in my pocket and also means i can travel super light but the slightest wind means the sound goes to shit, it is also really bad in low light. I have just gotten a wind cover for it though which has surprisingly improved it a lot even in very strong wind (will appear in my portugal algarve vlogs coming up) So its a tough one, I do want to improve my sound and stuff but also dont really like the idea of carrying around all this big camera gear :/

That's horrible haggling skills! I think the small ones were 20-25K in Saigon and Hanoi and the large ones were 40-50K.
