This brings back a lot of memories. I took the train to Mt. Pilatus in 1965 when I was a high school student. I'm 73 now.

I once took a train ride from Germany to Italy. In was the most wonderful solo ride on a train I have ever experienced in my life. It took about 10-12 hours, through many countries, all with uniquely wonderful landscapes.I plan on doing it again with my adult son!❤❤❤

Truly an amazing place....all hills, rocks, yet such ingeniousity throughout for exploring...at one time visiting while covered w/snow.... didn't think the train would make it up!

О чудо,ведь есть же рай на земле ,и он точно здесь, эмоции переполняют ,я бы с удовольствием прокатилась с ветерком.
нельзя с ветерком, иначе вы не успеете увидеть и оценить всю красоту вокруг вас. я бы тоже хотела попасть сюда.
Примерно такая же ж/д в Норвегии в районе фьордов (был лет 20 назад и забыл именно где),примерно такая же природа, такой же уклон ,поезд специально делает остановку в середине пути,туристы выходят из вагонов ,на соседней вершине ,приветствуя их ,танцует ,,местный дух гор" ,люди в восторге, видят,что внизу в фьорде ,км в десяти ,их ждёт океанский лайнер кажущийся игрушкой менее спичечной коробки . Очень впечатляет дорога от Боржоми до Бакуриани,был там в 1971-м году,по узкоколейке несколько вагончиков везёт так называемая ,,кукушка,",уклон большой,но тянет эта дорога существует ещё с 35-х годов,паровоз,конечно, иностранного производства, но это поездка по зимней сказке,это нечто фантастическое.

Love it. This train brought me and my 10 year old boy up to the mountain where he touched snow for the first time in his life! - we live in tropical country. Enroute uphill in the train, he fell asleep largely due to the lack of oxygen as the altitude elevation.
In 1995 I followed this trip up with an amazing cable car ride back down the mountain to Kriens. It's a lovely boat tour from Lucerne to the Pilatus Bahn.

Mt Pilatus is awesome. We were there in late winter and the train was not running. Too much snow, too deep. We took the Tramway which is also stunning. Don’t know why travel programs seem to ignore it but well worth going up. Great food as well! It was a cold icy wonderland that was foreboding and beautiful at same time! Worth seeing in all seasons! The sister Tramway is in Palm Springs California in the USA. They made mentionif it at Pilatus. We have been on that one as well since we live about an hour away. It rotates while going to the top of Mt San Jacinto. You go from desert cactus to mountain pines. Worth doing!

I remember taking this ride in the summer of 1982. (This video looks like springtime.) There were cows with their bells tinkling alongside the track, way up the mountain but drifting thick cloud at the top, which opened at times to give a fantastic view across the mountains. There was a proper viewing platform at the top. I don't fancy the rickety steps shown in the video but there, each to his own...
My wife and I took a bus to the foot of the mountain, then the cable car to the top of Mt Pilatus. I remember the smell of sausages being grilled at the top along with an ice cold beer. After being on top for a couple hours we took the cog railway down to the base. Then took a boat on Lake Lucern back to the town of Lucern. The trip to Switzerland was magical!
I loved the train ride and gorgeous views. On your hike, I felt like I was on top of the world. When we went to Switzerland in 2018, we took the cog wheel train. It was a fun and unique experience 😊

I did this journey in 1959. The chair lifts were impressive also. The coach driver was a bit scary though . Was 14 at the time.
We have been on that cog train and taken the cable back down. Loved hearing the cows with their bells on

Went on this ride in 1986 was a fantastic experience and a wonderful feat of engineering. To be greeted by a Hotel after such a remote journey was amazing.
I thought there was a train ride first and then cable car to the top of Pilatus but seems it was the cable car first. Always puzzled me how they got everything to the top.
Pilatus was where they filmed the Bond scenes for OHMS an amazing end to the journey, quite fantastic.

In some places unbelievable track was there. BEAUTIFUL.
I took this cogwheel train in September of last year and it was pretty scary but very beautiful. I felt sorry for the cows we passed standing on steep slopes of the mountain! Looks like they take one step and they’ll roll down the mountain! Mt. Pilatus is incredible though.
