Guys, wait until the codex for space wolves. Same with grey knights, there is no way to know whats getting removed but it's probably going to be brutal
@@keatonking5334same. I spent the most time panting Bjorn because I use him so much. It would be cool though if they put him in a Brutalis chassis and Primaised him. I’d buy that and gladly paint him up again
They're just very good. You can compare them to aggressors or hellblasters (which are more expensive) or bladeguard (which are just slightly cheaper) and they outperform the lot of them. 3 6T 4W + 3+/4++ with 10" movement for 100, even ignoring their great damage, is way too tough for its points. With easy access to charge and 2 damage, it just outclasses every space marine option for similar costs.
I think we’ll probably get new Thunderwolf cavs and maybe 1-2 heroes. Then we’ll get all of our unique first born cut. I just hope they get the guy that’s sculpting the new AoS models to sculpt them rather than who ever did the hideous blood angels stuff 😅.
Oh oh, I also can’t wait to not be able to buy the cool army box that comes with the new stuff and then waiting a year for stuff to come back in stock and then watching 11th edition come out before I get any of it.
My personal recommendation, run Ulrik with 10 wolf guard, and then you get all the same bonuses mentioned here, but also your wolf guard will now be hitting on 2+
My first game of 40 k I played tyranids and I’ll never forget Ragnar flying up the field rolling a 6 to advance and 12 to charge then absolutely nuking my buddies big expensive forge world tyranid 😅. Neither of us were even upset it was so impressive. Can’t make a list without him now.
On one hand I´m starting to like the idea of a Space Wolves army with tons of thunder wolves and characters. Maybe a few wolven in between. But...what will happen when the codex drops? Will we lose Battle leaders and such?
Space Wolves are essentially being held up by ThunderCav right now. Even as a player they need a bit of a nerf. But when that happens something else needs a buff. Maybe Wulfen should be made better (i.e. actually kill things - even if they go up into pts again). Or perhaps Blood Claws or Long Fangs should be worth considering
As a Dark Angels player, I look at the SW termies and just wish we could have them.. mixed melee/ranged? Yes please! Termy lieutenant? Would love to! A detachment that gives em all 6+fnp? Hell yeah!! And they don't even make the list - lol!
Thinking of starting a Space Wolves army but with so many non primaris Space Wolves unit boxes/heroes i'm hesitant. Maybe getting Leviathan Space Marines part first for like 110 to 120€?
Wait until the codex release and hopefully range refresh later this edition, I’d recommend. You’ll feel better if you were patient and didn’t buy units that will look generic next to the new ones*, or retire soon. You could absolutely get Leviathan - it’s just not a great fit for the Fenryka, both aesthetically and tactically. decent, which is far from a given
I'm very disappointed in the lack of Blood Claws on this list. 140 for 10, put them in a 75 point Rhino. They've got the same base stats as an assault Intercessor, but can take two special weapons per 10 for some decent pop-shot shooting added in, and a full unit fits into a cheap transport. Finally their built in buff is +1S and +1A on the charge / having been charged. With excellent character support, they can have a great mechanized infantry base to build around for relatively inexpensive. I have found anywhere between two and five transports driving alongside Wulfen and Thunderwolf Cavalry is just phenomenal pressure.
Well expect the Blood Claws to go then. They will just be replaced with a Assault Intercessor box with a rubbish sprue and lose all those weapon options. GW has seen the future of non codex chapters. And it's Smurfs painted a different colour. 😢😭
@Believer1980 I'm expecting both Blood Claws and Gray Hunters to be removed with the 10th edition update since they're 'basically' Intercessors / Assault Intercessors respectively just with options. But you're absolutely right, the recent direction that Games Workshop is headed is the homogenization of armies. It feels particularly detrimental since the only reason to do it is internal balance, but then they also take two years to print army rules at an additional cost.
Well they're only 1ppm cheaper than assault intercessors and can't be taken in squads of 5 if you're just going for board coverage. Also they start with 1 less attack so they're only even on the charge (not when charged). So really it comes down to +1 strength vs wound rerolls. Imo the only real advantage over assault intercessors is being able to ride in a rhino, but otherwise they're pretty similar (except on most attached characters I'd rather have the wound rerolls if they don't already get it).
They seem great on paper, particularly with Ulrik, though I've not seen many people use them in anger in 10th comp lists so far. Could happily have mentioned them though!
@@davidarcherd9868my last hope is that Grey Hunters getting chainswords + boltguns will skew them far enough from intercessors. I don’t have much hope in that direction anymore.
I really hope they go back more towards space vikings with the noxt codex. Allways liked space wolves. But they got a bit to goofy for me with all the wolf riding.

How is the one, and note it's the one INTENDED to work with the detachment, in its own book, SO inferior to the other? Why do Primaris Outriders, or whatever they are called, seem so mid, and why have the detachment THERE, if they had already planned to shelf all the other "Character on Bike" units, like a mounted Captain, or Librarian? I could almost see building up a whole White Scars army, with the "correct" models, and then STILL field them as Space Wolves, just so the Outriders, but using the stats, and kit options, of Thunderwolves, could be competitive.
