How to treat someone with scars

When I was younger, I was in a fire that left me with scars
But there's one experience I had that sticks out to me
I was getting a massage
And the woman looked at my scars
But not like how I was used to
She treated them:
-objectively
-with curiosity
-as a matter of fact
We all have scars.
Some are more visible than others.
Some are mental, some are physical.
But whether we can see them or not
Often we are left with feelings of shame around our scars.
This can come from a number of places.
-negative interactions with strangers
-our internal insecurities
-people close to us treating us differently
We can't change how others treat our scars,
But I challenge us to change how we treat others' scars.
If we can treat others' scars objectively, with curiosity and fairness, I think we'd be on our way to something great.
