What is paying it forward and how does it work? It turns out that paying it forward is based on a a few very irrational but very wonderful human quirks. The first is that we care about others and we get some internal joy when they enjoy something. The second is that we feel a need to reciprocate when someone does something nice for us. Together we have the beautiful result -- of paying it forward.

What's interesting about the idea of the car gift is that if everyone chooses to pay for a random person's order rather than their own, without the gift notion, I would think that would be crazy. But once you introduce the gift concept everything changes.
