I prefer the rear end of the old model, but overall I think the new design is a huge step forwards. I like the outgoing model a lot, but the new one just look so much meaner up front, especially the dark horse model.
The front design is much better than the outgoing generation for sure. My one gripe is I really wish the front fenders were more pronounced like the rears to make it look just that much more aggressive.
It's funny because they made the front more muscle-car like, but the rear more sports car. If it had an s550 front and s650 rear it would work, or vice-versa.
I think the rear end looks great, because the mustang finally isn't having an identity crisis and is going full-pony car, and then they make the front end more beefy, which looks great but it's polarizing.
Please stop,the rear end of 6th gen is ugly
The horizontal line at the top of the front fascia is killer. Absolutely phenomenal design
@@Toymonkeyjr couldn’t agree more. I couldn’t stand the s550 front, but liked the rear. While I don’t hate this rear, I do like the front a lot
I used to dislike the new rear too until i noticed that the angled lights and boot are taken from the 67 fastback model. It’s a cool detail when you notice it.

But if it's not aesthetically pleasing, does nostalgia really justify it?
This was the similar argument for their last Thunderbird. It reminded people of the original one, so that justified the new one's obsessively terrible design for some reason among its few supporters.
By this logic, they should remake the Edsel too. Bad design, but that's what they did before...
@@f1jones544 But than by your logic the 67 fastback model was a bad design, which it clearly wasn't and still isn't.
Do you mean the recessed light? 67 didn't have angled lights (meaning they weren't pointing left or right)
@@speedracer1702 the new ones aren't either. It's just the bowing of the rear end that makes the inset look like it's pointing in one direction
This re-design is honestly spot on. This is exactly how I wish the new Mustang actually looked!
Completely agree about the digital screens. Just shoving a giant tablet on the dash looks completely out of place in any vehicle.

I totally agree with the black element around the rear. Even if you paint it black aftermarket or put a vinyl on that area it’ll make it look better
The S650 redesign successfully went "tough futuristic" without going EV lol. I love how much sharper cut it is, and the widened rear quarter panels are sick.
When I first looked at the new design, I thought that the side of the car was to plane. Your redesign looks 100 percent
better to me.

Wow, always impressed with your design changes. I feel, in many cases these manufacturers should be trying to snag you for their design team. As I watched the launch I had many of the same opinions you mentioned in your video, I thought the rear lights shrunken and small and that the lack of a "double hump" dash on the interior was a disappointment. I think the wheels are very cool but would look better on a smaller sportier car like a fiesta/focus. I like your addition of the historical mustang hockey stick lines as well!

Excellent re-design of the rear. Cleaning up the wing and simplifying the overall approach to make the rear harmonize with the rest of the car. The side treatment was very clean yet distinctive. I like your idea of clean and simple lines that are just as functional as they are attractive. I would love to see your re-design of a 1969 Ford Capri!
That dark horse is gonna be a menace.
I might also redesign the new stang too. Mainly the rear because it has too many unconnected lines going nowhere

I think the redesigned back looks better but looks too similar to the 2015+ models and if it were designed that way there would be a lot of complaints regarding that aspect of it.
Yeah, if you took his redesigned side view graphics (MASSIVE improvement there) and his resigned rear proportions, but left the decklid body colored I think that'd be the perfect sweet spot.
That's literally what I said in my comments, Ford had to do something different because you already know people would beat them up over it looking too much like the previous gen, and they already do even now as is.
They damn near nailed this Mustang... Can't please everyone.

Really dig your redesign. I agree with you I think the angles are off and the stance isn't as aggressive. When I first looked at the car I said to myself, "why do the back wheels look smaller than the front?" And it was that rear end. Def love what you did.
I really like how they did the new one, I really agree on that clay model rear end though, the factory one is just a little too thin or squished, the clay model rear makes it look more like a proper muscle car and gives that throwback sorta look, maybe they'd do it for a mid run facelift like they have before

This car has the best of both worlds. Old school design with a modern touch. The interior looks like a airplane simulation cockpit. Unreal. Congrats Ford. They will sell out!!!!!
Ford’s bean counters cut costs and are re-using tooling from S550. They should have adapted the platform to accommodate a Fox-body hatchback design/engineering for more utility, like a Jaguar F-Type.

That small taillight tweak makes all the difference. Shoulder/rear fender intersection would have to change to make the hockey stick work for me. RIP those awesome concept sketches.
You killed it with this sketch. It makes it way more mustang and less camero.

That would be my one gripe as well, rear end needs to be adjusted. I like what you did on your design.

I actually like the rear the best.The front got a little too digital and lost some of its heritage look although the lower fascia is cleaner. I wish Ford would stop calling this car all-new because it's not. It's obviously a reskin of the old car, nothing wrong with that!
Love the new Dark Horse design. Your suggestions are mostly great but I’m not sure about softening the angles of the tri-bar rear lights. It looks like you didn’t finish the rear deck lid to black and that what I was most interested in seeing for this video! Can you finish that work and give a little more commentary on that piece?
I waited for you to do a review on the design cuz from your prospective ( based on the fact that you have an experience on designing things ) you are the only one who can make me decide if its ugly or not and why and what make it cool and what make it look boring and what did missed on the design . that's what i think
Agreed. The front end looks better, especially the Dark Horse version with the vertical “nostrils” on the grill. But the rear end looks too much like a copy of the Elantra. I also agree that the rear end treatment you picked out is better than the one Ford went with.
I like almost everything about it, even the screen I had an 05 and this new one just blows me away

Wow, impressed by your design. The hockey stick design absence was the first thing I noticed when I saw the reveal. I'm pretty sure that later they will bring it back, it's kind of the bold signature, equivalent to the tribars. Overall I think that de s650 is in the right direction, it will evolve overtime. Great video!
I'm kinda surprised neither you or him noticed that they brought the hockey stick back. Look at the surfacing as it transitions to the rear. There's a well defined line that runs up just behind the door that cuts back, and then flows into the shoulder line. Clearly call back to the hockey stick imo.
Your redesign is far superior, especially the hockey stick element on the door, that area is in desperate need of help. I like your treatment of the rear, basically Ford should have paid you to do this car. I have a 2021 Mach 1, and owned a 2014 GT, aesthetically I liked the 2014 more, you could see the Mustang lineage inside that car.
When Ford went retro in 2005 (following T-bird and GT) I said that was it, they'd run out of ideas across the board. Since then, they've proven me right. Every new iteration is effectively a facelift of that design.
You’re absolutely right. 2005 Mustang is one of the most important mustang generations ever because it set the benchmark for all modern mustangs. Same can be said for the Challenger, Charger, Camaro.
It's almost as if retaining an identity in a vehicle is important for it's success 😱
Can't please everyone lol. People gonna call you uninspired for updating old designs, people gonna call say "you've ruined the car's identity" if you try something new.
Yep yeah definitely should have extended the tail lights and add the straight trunk line and include the classic hockey sticks. It looks so much better now!
Dang... your edits are so on point. Would’ve been major improvements to have those little tweaks.. the trunk area looks droopy in the Ford proto. Extending the taillights like you did is a perfect fix 👌

I wish Ford had gone with the clay model you showed. It would have looked absolutely stunning with that clean front end. I see the same overdesign in the front end of the GT with the new sharper headlights. Those angles don't really work for me. For the first time, I like the Ecoboost much better than the GT. With a performance package that brings a simple trunk spoiler, it will look fantastic.
I would be curious to see the line of the hood continued back to be continuous to the rear quarters as opposed to having hips. It would have been cleaner and continue with the trend of more muscle-y as opposed to sporty with the hips
Look at the 2011-2012 for a clean Mustang design.
I have the opposite opinion. I don't like the front design. It's headlights are small and something about the grille looks off. The rear design on the other hand looks awesome as it is, but your design made it even better. Great video as always.
Agreed. It is a shame we likely won't see him fix the front since he likes it so much.
Almost a perfect redesign. I like the new mustang for how brutish it looks. This redesign takes away some of that but it also addresses those important points brought up in the video. Maybe something in between like in the prototype sketch from ford would be perfect
Adding the "c" mark or a vent by the quarter panel to cool down rear brakes would be nice.
Suttle but nice! I would love you to do a redesign of the Alfa Romeo Brera (adding a slightly more classic coupe-like rear would be interesting, for example). Otherwise I would love to just hear your comments on what I think is one of the most beautiful cars around!

Yeaaahhh they sold me... I'm gonna buy one of these someday. Maybe in a few years... But this is the best looking modern mustang ive seen and it's got a Coyote and 500hp. What more could you want? Sure there's shit with more power out there and better handling too, but this looks like an amazingly fun car. I want one for sure.

Definitly agree, a big fan but it has its issues as any year. They did a lot right but had a bit too much going on in the rear while also being too flat and simple?
I like your adjustments but one thing i would do is reduce the size of the rear diffuser. Get rid of the top inch...it's grown too far up towards the taillights.
You made the Booty look A LOT more balanced...Less Hyundai Elantra looking now!...I like the Hockey Stick flare on the side too!...Looks less Camaro looking now!
This makes me miss the 2005 redesign. That was pure muscle car. More squared off and masculine. Although the dark horse is pretty killer.
The back , rear fenders and clean design of the sides are great just the way Ford designed. Front end is going to take some getting used to.
Or GM, lol. Someone pointed out how similar the new lines of the 2024 Mustang are to the 6th gen Camaro and I can't unsee it. Got to agree the front end is kind off.

Fully believe the new Mustang design pales in comparison to the outgoing generation, especially when it comes to the interior. Your adjustments definitely improve the rear a lot though.

Owned 8 mustangs over a 20 year period...was hoping to make this one #9, but I think I'll be keeping my C7 vette....the dark horse is ok, but considering it'll probably be 65 grand plus another 10k or more dealer markup, that's a hard no. Ford didn't do anything spectacular with it. At the end of the day is still just a mustang, and without the word Shelby somewhere on it, not worth these ridiculous prices that current mustangs are selling for
You should wait until they come up with a GT350 or something like that, or maybe they will bring a GT500 sooner, but I think the GT500 is going to be hybrid in this gen, so maybe it's not going to be that soon.
Heard the dark horse makes 5000hp mated with a 100 speed automatic

@@thanosianthemadtitanic Nope, 6969hp with 420 speed manual. The entire dashboard is a maze, and you have to navigate from the beginning to end with the shifter.
Can you do the Ford Escort and see how it would look if it was relevant for the styling for today

Straight from the 67-68 models. The whole inset angle, rectangular shape is very iconic of the 67-68 rear end.
The 67 Fastback is by far the most beautiful rear end on a Mustang. However that doesn’t mean that those same tail lights will work on 2022 proportions. But that’s just my opinion.
New design is perfect as it is
what a cool car, Muscle cool, long sharp hood, good grill, only thing is, bad tail lights.

That dark horse model is gorgeous not gonna lie
The dark horse bumper remember me of the Ford falcon with it's black plastics. The rear have the same angle as the Ford GT. I really Wonder what saleen will do with this model i love their parnelli Jones and black label
Ford has made it! They have achieved what no other brand has in the 20s .. leaving out the M3 M4 and the 911, this is the most passionate driver oriented car with a perfect mix of technology and still having drivers basic structure that works. Amazing to have three pedals, hand brake, rwd with lsds and some tech gadgets that won’t make you miss a c-class..
