  • You may have heard it said that if you’re not making an effort to continually stay connected to your partner, you will drift apart. If you’re not rowing in the direction you want to go, you will drift in no particular direction. At the Marriage Recovery Center, we use the ATTUNE method to teach couples how to connect, and stay connected, to their partner for deeper intimacy. Listen in as Dr. Hawkins walks you through the 6 steps of the ATTUNE method for deeper connection - Attend, Tune In, Tolerate Distress, Understand, Nurture and Empathize.

Isn’t it a strong indicator that someone toxic doesn’t care/ love / cherish their partner when they are willing to never speak to you, spend time with you, and choose disconnecting, all times their is opportunity, and they choose everything but you? To me it speaks volumes. Toxic/ narcissistic/ oppositional people tend to want something you have, and will try to attain it , even though they have absolutely zero, respect, admiration, or love for you. That to me is other level using for their benefit .

Every situation is unique, but sometimes these patterns can be broken and new ones learned. There's a lack of awareness of what their choices/behaviors really mean and that is the starting point for a lot of the work that we do. Thanks for your comment

I have felt this a lot with my wife. Especially since we had our first son over a year ago. There's little to no attention. And even when there is attention it's like the lights are on but nobody is home. And it makes me have no empathy for her because I have long felt she really doesn't care. And all the attention she is willing to give goes to her family and whoever else. But not to us.
