Yes, the brakes are better on the 09, but the real reason to why it outshined the other bikes are ABS... Weird that you did not mention this in the brake test, as it is highly relevant! Other than that, great review and comparison. Good points made!
Great review!!! I actually own a 2004 FZ06 and would never have thought that I'd ever consider going down in HP and consider the MT-07 but I am and I don't think I'd miss it the extra power of the older bike.
Either 2018 MT-07 or MT-09 will be my second bike. First bike is a 200CC dual sport. The MT-09 is more powerful, but has riding modes, better suspension, better brakes, quick shifter, better electronics, etc.. I think the MT-07 is more bike than I need, but for about $1400 more I can get a much better bike in the MT-09. It's such a hard decision to make. Both will have ABS, but MT-07 has no traction control. MT-07 is $7599, MT-09 is $8999. I can use modes and throttle control, I'm not going to kill myself on the MT-09. Still MT-07 is plenty of bike for me and is less money. I might regret not getting the MT-09 in a year or two, or I might be completely happy with the MT-07 for the next five years. This vid is helpful, but I still don't know what to get in the spring.
You say mt09 need use b or c mode for street top much agresssive, and the FZ6 os bad? Comparing 07 and 09 , and FZ6 win in mid range vs 07, its a 4 cylinder curse you need open more troutle , First time with bikes? Not good .....
Why this boy nelecting fz06 Everytime and saying mt07 is better.. come on dude.. do a drag race fz06 is faster than mt07.. yeah it's old but don't you knw tht old is gold.. it has inline four.. it means more power, refined , basically it is a high end rev machine..

Good video but the make I would have to use in comparison was the fz6 s2 improvement in the brake calipers and 98 hp I think it would slow down better than the mt07 greetings.

"Better brakes"? Of course, it's got ABS! You should've used an MT-07 and FZ6 with ABS in this test. (Possibly still a longer braking distance but would've been more fair.)

I’m FZ6 owner. It’s true that Braking system on MT-07 are much way more good than FZ6. I used test on both bike, use same Michelin PR2 tire, with standard brake (just change brake oil). The rear tire lock-up on FZ6 easily with no reason... I did (almost) the same force on rear brake paddle on my friend ‘s MT-07, it isn’t that easy lock-up ...
Loved my Mt-07 when I bought it, loved it even more when I sold it :) Engine is lovely, but suspension is piece of crap. You can upgrade it ofcourse, but for little more money you can get MT09 insted.
you pick the first gen fz6 with 2 caliper brakes,not 2nd gen fazer that got r6 brakes and are amazing.You also dont speak about the hardling witch is FAR better on the fazer when the mt07 sakes like hell with its budjet suspension and chassis.Also you talk about the performance on track like a noobie that rides first time a motorcycle.Thats not jurnalism,same on you

The FZ6's power begins at 10k rpm.

Yeah this test sucks. They didnt show the tires also. FZ6 could have like 4 years old tires. Overall compare to other compare films this one sucks :)

Yamaha says the Mt-07 is not made for the track. And another reviewer says the Z650 out performed the mt-07 on the track.
dry509 didn't test the Z750 yet. None of these bikes is for the track. But it's the place we could ride them to the limit in safe conditions
