I got the G3x, I traded it for a Squier Tele I found at a junk store for $80 (aud). I was just looking for interesting trades and a G3X with the expression pedal came up and I took it. Zoom gear always looked a bit dodgy to me so I was pretty surprised when I came across this one. Its pretty great!
Zoom REALLY gets it. I've been using the G2Nu for some time, it's well built and sounds great. It replaced a bunch of other stuff and the convenience of saving out a bunch of combos is indispensable. I haven't got a G3 yet, but this makes it look like it might be worth an upgrade-- some of the new effects would be nice. But the G2Nu is still solid for my guitar. I wish the G3 or G5 had stereo inputs though, as I'd like to use one of those with synthesizer gear without having to go through a mixer and its FX loop to get both channels mixed into the effects, but I guess the G3 & G5 is more a guitar stompbox-- but I like the fact all the knobs are on the front, and the G5 is even better for that, so having that kind of capability to use with synthesizer gear would make a lot of sense. But in general, Zoom's stuff is well made and affordable, hard to beat.
Already in the works! I started with a fairly generic patch with overdrive, two delays, reverb going into a clean amp. I'll also try to get a video going where I cover the amps and another with the effects. There is so much in this unit, it is CRAZY
Watched a lot of your demos, thanks - it's given me a great idea of what I could use this pedal for. One question though: I use a RC-30 Dual Loop Station as part of my pedal chain. If I want to use the G3 Amp Simulators to Direct Input into my PA (I'm trying to travel fairly light since I went solo and want to eliminate my amp for some gigs if possible), can I have a pedal after it or does it have to be the last pedal in the chain?
You have been really helpful. I have two other questions. If I just want to use this machine for the effect sounds do I have to save my sounds in a patch? Can I use my WA without changing anything on the machine by just putting in the front of it?
Hey man nice video. I can pick up G3 or Used Pod X3 ( good condition ) . I keep reading good words about Zoom g3 especially with headphones. They say that it has great quality sound with headphones. Which one would u pick G3 or Pod x3? thank u
Is there reggae dub style of delay's in it? Something like Roland Space Echo? Or BBD style of delays where pitch of the delayed signals change when time parameter is changed? That mod delay might come to a close of course but ain't quite it. Is it possible to do feedback loops? Directing signal back from let's say FX3 to FX2?
Awesome.. yeah, I'm building a new board myself, and I'm thinking of incorporating the G3 into it for reverb, and modulations. I can't take anymore of my BOSS ME-70.... it's a good unit, but it just lacks tonal depth of traditional pedals.
Is there a way to access effects, amps and such thru software for pc or ipad? I really like the visual interface but I would like to be able to scan them all at once. I was looking at Boss and Vox but all said I'll get the Zoom. Very informative series. Thanks

have you tried an electro acoustic through it? Thinking of getting a effects pedal for my acoustic but not sure which one would suit as most of them I presume are aimed at electric guitars.

I don't really understand the question. I've never experienced that problem. Have you isolated the problem to the G3? Maybe it is a guitar/cable problem? It could also be a faulty unit. Seems wrong to me somewhere.
Anyone having trouble installing Edit and share on windows 8? mine installs then nothing shows up no directory nor program, and everything else works fine
It's definitely the unit because when i run my guitar directly through my amp an other pedals there is no issue. This is sad because the effect and looper are great functionality. On Guitar Center.com there is a similar issue on one of the reviews.
But how is the SOUND QUALITY????? that is the ISSUE! how does this SOUND? if it sounds like a computer that overly compresses the various sounds? than its not really good.. What good is it to have all these options and sounds, if the sounds dont sound full, rich, musical, organic, ??? you get my point.
Can you go through the effects of this unit? There's literally no video on TH-cam going through any of the effects... just a bunch of mishmashed videos showing the drum machine and looper in every single one LOL.

Hi. I have noticed that on the back of the pedal board there are two buttons that say Balanced out. Someone knows what they are for. ??
Balanced out is ideal to drive a longer cable run and reject noise.
