    This is dedication, camper in cooler weather plus rain. Ya my wife wouldn't be having it at all. Also here we get bugs inside the camper so we use a little rechargeable dust buster and socks them right up.

    I like the way you always try to figure out how to make things work better for your camping experience. I also like the rain when I camp because of the great sound and it makes you enjoy different things. Reading, relaxing, eating snacks, sleeping etc. HA!

    Nice deer shots! I camped four nights over the last two weeks. Slightly cold at night but the days were ok, but I don't go when it's supposed to rain. Great video!

    Good video. You mentioned you're on the lookout for walls for your awning. They do make for a more enjoyable time when the rain/winds aren't spoiling your outdoor time, whether just sitting there, or trying to get some food cooked. Had 6 straight hours of a downpour last summer during one outing. The grandsons up in the RTT said they slept great. I was busy rigging "gutters" so that the rain wasn't pooling on top of my awning. 😳

    I could sleep like a baby listening to the rain hit that tent. My camp has a metal roof and it's just amazing how good that sound is. You keep it up with all those gadgets and you're going to need a bigger truck , lol. Those little toys make camping a whole lot easier, just heat the water in your truck with no flame and ta da , you get to have coffee.Still pretty crappy in upstate New York to go camping, so I guess I'll just have to watch you for now. Stay safe and God bless ...

    Can so relate. Took my Gazelle tent and went to Eisenhower State park Wednesday. Plans were to stay until Saturday. Got all set up by dark. Settled in and then rain hits, then Gale force winds come along. So tent flapping all night, rain, rain rain, on and off all night. Had a few hours of no rain Thursday morning but by noon or so it was back and stayed constant until Friday morning. Decided to call it and head home. glad I did cuz it got cold. Always enjoy your videos, they are just plain simple and good, well fairly simple except for all the fun gadgets :). Thanks again for "weathering the storm."

    That's impressive that the tent held up as well as it did with all that rain. I had pop ups that the canvas would leak if you even touched it! (1970's tech I guess) Makes me think more about a roof top set up. Thanks for braving the rain for us.

    I follow quite a few camping channels. There are some that all of their videos are of them camping in the rain. They purposely wait until it’s going to rain to go out. I don’t get it. I hate the rain when we’re camping. It makes camping less fun and especially the cleanup when we get home. I like those string lights. Will definitely order a couple

    I bet ya missed your camper shell on that trip. Putting up a wet tent then trying to get it dry. The coffee making looked stressful and hazardous cramped up in the cab. The awning would work pretty good with some sides. I like the new storage option. Does each compartment have its own lid or just one big top?

    • @BrianWatersOutdoors
      @BrianWatersOutdoors  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s just one big cover/lid. Still don’t miss the shell though👍🏻

    Hi Brian, I’m contemplating this TopOak RTT vs a Soft Shell (Tonneau) cover “Inspired Overland” RTT. They’re both ~$1,500. I like the TopOak because it seems like it will hold up better in storms (hard shell). VS having a soft shell. BUT the soft shell will make me drastically less top heavy (in an already tall and narrow Chevy Colorado), I’ll gain nimbleness, MPG, but at the cost of rigidity. The TopOak setup will push me just 20lb below my racks dynamic rating, while the soft shell would put me well under 100lb of the rating. I’d like your take in my scenario

    • @BrianWatersOutdoors
      @BrianWatersOutdoors  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’d be more concerned with your weight rating, so I’d probably go the softshell setup

    How do you like this set up? I like all the storage you get from the truck bed now with the roof top tent but it looked so cozy with the topper that you could hang out in if you needed to. Not like you want to hang out in a roof top tent so you have to be outside all the time pretty much.

    • @BrianWatersOutdoors
      @BrianWatersOutdoors  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks! That’s why I like this setup honestly. It forces me to be outside and enjoy the outdoors instead of being inside my truck camper.

      I like it much more. For me, it’s just more fun and feels like I’m outside more and not just sitting in the back of my truck. It’s lighter, and it’s easy to take off. I do t keep this setup on during the week when I’m driving around town regularly. And….i never liked the “look” of a shell anyways😂

    Brian, are the sites you are renting considered RV sites? I’m looking for something similar where I live with electric hookup, and I see tent sites and RV sites. Are you parking your truck when you truck camp at an RV site?
