    I have the top oak and i found that running the heater into the top of the front door and mostly into the sky light works well. Most of the air blows into the rain flap but creates a thermal barrier and the air still blows back into the tent. As the night got colder i would reach up and direct a little more air into the tent. By the end of the night it was blowing directly into the tent.

    Diesel heaters are the best way to keep warm these days. They are becoming more affordable. That particular heater that you used has the ability to turn itself off and back on when the temperature reaches your selected temp. Just like the heater in your home. You will need to extend the control panel wiring to bring it inside as the temp sensor is in the controller. You program the controller via the buttons as the Bluetooth does not access that area. Your manual should coach you through it. You can also change from "C" to "F" on the controller but not in the Bluetooth. I am a Vine Voice reviewer for Amazon and I have 6 diesel heaters and this model is my favourite. Keep those videos coming...

    It looks cool, but clearly the setup takes longer than 8 seconds. It's fun and exciting to have some new gear to play with, just be realistic with it.

    If you plan on camping in sub freezing temps and your diesel heater is outside naturally you might want to consider some fuel anti gel...I drove large diesel trucks for 30 years and with such a small tank on the heater it wouldn't take much for the fuel to gel...thus eliminating your heat source...and I'm surprised after watching your gear and gadget review channel that you didn't have a leatherman to adjust the allen screws for the ladder lol...all is good...I watch Roaming Reckless as well and yes Ollipop is $2 a can at the local grocery...guess I'm going to have to try it...dig your videos and I'm sure you'll have this rig decked out for everything you need...stay warm...I'm in Missouri and currently -7 windchill

  • @retnav92
    @retnav92 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Good episode, and the Etsy device for the tent heater hose looks like a winner. I priced the various tire tables, and find them too pricey also. What I've bought is a tire step (roughly $60) to use for my Wave 2 and/or diesel heater. Did a test and a bungee cord holds the Wave 2 sufficiently enough on the tire step. Could also use a cam buckle strap.
    I think you previously mentioned getting an awning (180/270) in the the future. It'll increase your "living area", and provide shelter from rain/harsh sunshine.

    • @BrianWatersOutdoors
      @BrianWatersOutdoors  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So, I saw the side step, and will probably end up getting that instead of the table….or just build my own. And, I already have my awning, just a simple pull out and I’ll try to get that installed when the weather gets a little nicer.

    I like the new camping set up. The only downside I see so far is when you were making your morning coffee and having to stand outside instead of being able to be in the camper shell. Just thinking about if it’s raining. Also I assume if it rains and the tent gets wet you will have to open it up inside your garage when you get home and let things dry out. Wondering if you set the ladder on the side you can set up a little tent shelter at the tailgate? I love the view from up in the tent. I realize it was your 1st trip and you have bugs to work out and maybe some modifications. Oh and the diesel heater set up is really nice! Thanks for taking us along. Be safe!

    • @BrianWatersOutdoors
      @BrianWatersOutdoors  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I “could” make coffee up in the tent, just didn’t think about bringing the supplies up there. And yes, I’d have to “air out” the tent at home if it did get rained on , so obviously pros and cons with this new setup.👍🏻

    Hey Brian (Dean here). That’s awesome. I was wondering…. Does that diesel heater stink inside the tent (like give you a headache from fumes)? Also, would be cool if they made a thermostat of some type that you could hang in the tent annd string down to the heater panel and, while you’re sleeping it kick off/on as needed. If there is no thermostat, you could just unzip a window and let some cool air in as needed and/or even bring a small fan just to help circulate a tiny bit of air (whether it be warm or cool air). I could tell at first you was hot when you first turned it on…but then came the cold! lol. Thanks for showing off your lighter! Hope it helps bring many warm nights, campfires and meals cooked! Be safe my friend and stay warm!

    • @BrianWatersOutdoors
      @BrianWatersOutdoors  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Dean👍🏻 so, the control panel on the heater is the thermostat. All I’d need to do is extend the wiring and throw that little control screen in the tent and that would help regulate the heat more. I’m just lazy😂

      Hey Eric, you’ll like this heater…. At least it worked well for me. I added the links to the insulated hose and the Etsy vent in the description now👍🏻

    Got a question for you Brian. Maybe I missed it in another video or this one but what do you use to protect your bed and items (especially your Bluetti) in it from the elements while you're camping?

    • @BrianWatersOutdoors
      @BrianWatersOutdoors  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm never far away from my truck, so i'm fine with leaving in the back on trips like these. If I were to venture far away i'd just put the bluetti in the back of the cab and lock it up. If I were some place more sketchy, obviously things would be a lot more different

      @@BrianWatersOutdoors While not quite what I meant but glad you described it anyway, what I meant was rain or other inclement weather getting in your tote and generator.

    How many degrees did the heater warm up the tent? Did you figure out how much power was consumed?

    • @BrianWatersOutdoors
      @BrianWatersOutdoors  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Heated it up more than I needed😂 was too hot when I first got in. It took off about 10% of my power station (2,000 watt hours)

    How did you use the Bluetti in freezing temps without damage to the battery?

    • @BrianWatersOutdoors
      @BrianWatersOutdoors  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It did just fine. Any colder and I’d probably put a blanket around it or put it in the back of my truck cab.

      Damage cones from charging in freezing weather, not from using it in freezing weather.

    I know you've said this in other videos and I just don't remember what the answer was but may I ask what app you use to find your campsites? Thank you

    • @BrianWatersOutdoors
      @BrianWatersOutdoors  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Dave, I do t really use any specific app. Mainly google earth to just look around for camping areas.

      @@BrianWatersOutdoors That's actually a great idea. Thanks. How are you liking that roctruk topper? I ordered one myself based on your decision (over the backflip). Should be here by Monday. Replacing my soft top since I wanted something more rigid and secure. Thanks again.
