• Keep in mind you can only steal once per character so don't go all out at once but rather have a character steal needed skillbooks at first, wait till you get to 8-10 thievery as that's when the weight/gold value from pickpocketing gets really GREAT. • Same for Fort Joy, wait till you reach level 4 when everyone has all low tier skillbooks available in Act 1. In the end of the day: just don't send all of your thiefs to rob someone clean the first moment you meet them...
I think it’s worth mentioning here that you can sell a bag full of goods to any merchant. The value of the bag will be determined by its content. This way you can legally clean out all of a traders inventory and later simply steal the bag back. This tactic allows for a lot more profit particularly early game when your thievery is low.
So I know this is a year old, but I just started playing D:OSII and was confused as to why stuffing things in bags still had me loosing my items. Little brats got invasion of privacy this last patch or so! So here's the changes. 1) You have to have a party member talking to your mark, or you will be on a timer, usually about 6 seconds before they notice and hit someone in range with questions. 2) Initially the npc will run an area sweep of each nearby npc (it's at least 7 crates in radius) for stolen items. They will now question multiple party members in range. 3)The NPC searches all held items and inside held containers 4)If the NPC finds even 1 item on you that is theirs, they will take back ALL items (Including ones from dropped containers -- WHAT, yes this is a thing now) 5) NPCs won't initially search dropped containers. So as long as you put all your stolen items from that particular NPC in a barrel, bag, etc and drop it, and wait for the search, you should be fine. 6) If you have a copy of the item you have stolen in your inventory already, and it stacks, it clears the stolen flag/info. (thank goodness) Usually it's best to keep the npc occupied, do you stealing, and just have your thief leave the area / then bring the rest of your party away. If your fast enough, you won't even have to deal with the questioning. The timer is maybe 15 seconds in total?
i got a +1 thievery unique chest from pickpocketing the guy guarding stairs leading to lohar's place and arena( the chest is actually very good for ranger).
You can actually get up to 12 thievery in Act 2. Dig up the graves that Gareth is standing near and take the dagger off one of the corpses. Equip the dagger before you speak to your god during the ritual the FIRST time. The god will have a copy of the dagger and whatever helmet you have equipped the first time you meet, steal from him/her BEFORE you speak to them the first time. Papa Thrash in the tavern also sells a unique chest with +1 thievery. 5 Thievery from stats, 1 from a belt, 2 from the gloves, 2 from the daggers, 1 from the chest armor, and if you combine an Eternal Artifact with any pair of boots, that's an extra 1 point totaling up to 12 points of Thievery. To make it easier to steal from NPC's in crowded locations you can also do this easy trick, talk to them with any of your characters, while they are in chat teleport YOUR character to a location that would be safe to steal from. The NPC you were talking to will follow your character and berate them for teleporting away. While you're getting chewed out, just steal whatever you want. Also, if you want to steal from someone you have already stolen from.. one work around to this is to dismiss one of your party members back to the lady vengeance, and then recruit a mercenary. The mercenary will be able to steal whatever you want, and in the future you could just repeat this strategy over and over again.
If you're a summoner/ a friend you can use that incarnate to bait the enemies to look at him. Simply agro your selected individual and sneak behind them
muuuch too complicated just do it the easy way: Have one of your party talk to npc > teleport or swap that par tymember to a place where it's not so crowded and out of reach for pescy people wanering around (theres always at least one area like this in range) then just watch the NPC walk to your teleported teammate right out of range of any public field of view... easy thiving and no worries.
@@niltna dunno which NPC you tried this on but it worked with any and all npcs I encountered which are in the openworld and not currently part of a cutscene or similar.
You can get up to 5 thievery via your normal stats, 5 being the cap. You can max out at 10: Equip any belt that gives 1 thievery - even an Uncommon belt can have it. Halla's Shiny Ribbon is a guaranteed Unique on Reaper's Coast Gloves of Acquisition - showcased in the video, you can get them once you land at the Driftwood Hub Racht Muvora - You can buy/steal/murder Papa Thrash for it Shadow Prince's Signet - drop from the Shadow Prince in the Nameless Isle. You can steal approx 30,000 gold from someone with 10 thievery - if you are level 16 or above, all traders should have this amount of gold every time they restock (which is every hour and when they level up). At the end of the Nameless Isle and also throughout Arx, if you really take your time and respec everyone and all, you can steal approx 120,000 gold from every single trader without even hiring any mercenaries.
I always find it hilarious that NPCs can't remember that something they own is being sold to them again. LOL "Hmmm, that sword looks SUSPICIOUSLY similar to the one I have... but I'll take it!"
This is really late, but I'm just starting my first playthrough. Your idea is really clever. It sort of reminds me of how real life pickpocket gangs work together as a team lol. I'm definitely going to try this 😂.
Awesome guide man! I've been playing this game for a few days and tought that thievery was an small thing with minimum impact in game. But seeing your honour walktrough always made me wonder how the hell you got so many spells, arrows, runes. You just took it to the next level. Also I wonder how to make good use of other civil abilities if they worth to be taken, like telekineses, persuasion. And I always try to use a beer before looting a lot of barrels to get more epic and legendaries but I not really sure if its worth the time to invest in lucky charm. Keep up the good content!
Lucky Charm wil be good when you manage to hit 8 or above. Later on through a quest ( Drowning Her Sorrows ) you can get an amulet that +2 Lucky Charm. But i personally prefer Thievery over Lucky as i value the certainty rather than pure RNG. You can get what you need right away with Thievery and you are certain that the item you will be using, with Lucky Charm even when you happen to loot a Legendary, there is no telling if that gear stats is going to good or bad. Persuasion is great, i actually have my bartering human running a Persuasion of 4 everytime i'm questing so i can win persuasion checks more frequently. I switch back to Bartering when tradings.
Every character can steal from an NPC once, right? So even if they refresh every hour and after every level up, im gonna run out of thieving options eventually, right?
yup, that's why you have to choose when and who to steal, most of the times you can rob poor traders their gear and money to profit from it and you will be swimming in gold to buy anything you want if you have more than 1 thievery characters. Save the steals options for better traders when you are at higher levels like around 16 when Divine gear appears. _Watch the Bartering Guide as well to see how useful it is. It can boost your sale by alot_
Damn, I already talked to Dashing June and I just gave her the money she asked for, and she ran off. I met and "romanced" butter in act 1 too, so I should have had the option to (must have clicked too fast and missed it) get those gloves. Anybody know where she runs off to? Maybe I can start the conversation with a different character, even if I suspect I'm f*cked on the +2 thievery gloves :( Thanks for the great upload! (Tip: There's also a unique fitness chest armor (lvl 9 IIRC) that gives +1 thievery, among other things. Can't remember where I got it though. Will check the name when I get home and launch up the game!) edit: Nvm, Mattia Zoccarato already mentioned this - the chest is from pickpocketing the dwarf "guarding" the entrance to the Undertavern.
A big red lizard sneaks behind the bum of a man in a barrel: *extremely s u s* All above except now there's a huge smoke cloud: I guess it was just my imagination..
i'm just too stupid for this game, i have no gold, no gear, nothing i do to steal works without dropping me into a fight and im too under levelled for any fights. think im done.
Hello. Good video. I'm having a problem maybe you guys know how to solve it. Everytime i unchain my characters and send one to a point he/she starts moving but as soon as i click another character the one that was moving stops it's pathing.

Bravo, thanks man.
I usually just use fast travel xD
What i do is send all to my knight with persuation and dont pass the check
i got a +1 thievery unique chest from pickpocketing the guy guarding stairs leading to lohar's place and arena( the chest is actually very good for ranger).
Very nice guide man, it was so helpfull. I ran always out of money and now i got more than 20k to spend. You are a titan!

You are mistaking hard cap for soft cap.
You can get +1 Thievery Dagger on corpse of Gareth's parrent ( gravel )
If you're a summoner/ a friend you can use that incarnate to bait the enemies to look at him. Simply agro your selected individual and sneak behind them
"One does not simply steal once"

Does drinking a beer increase your luck? 😂😅 I didn't even know.
sin tee is the only guy I found so far making good dos2 content
I like his voice
In the thieving in public section you casted bless after casting the smoke screen spell. Why did you do that? You didn't explain it in the video.
Blessed smoke makes you invisible for a certain time

not really, you can always go to lady vengeance and recruit more thiefs from the lizard. this gives you like 15 more potential thieves
So when the stolen stuff is in a backpack people who look through you back wont notice their stolen items??
the bag was thrown on the ground
nice video !
If you failed the dialogue with Dashing June to get the gloves, can you get them later somehow?
Yes, you can steal it from her. She will be staying at the undertavern.
Do you get them from killing her or not
They are unique so I believe you would. I kind of forgot about this game, glad someone replied to my thread!
or you can simply seal that glove from Dashing June
you know its fucked up when games teaches you that stealing is more profitable then crafting/working... what they are trying to teach young people xD
Hey I was curious about the song that you use in your intro, what's it called?
Different Heaven - Far Away (Phantom Sage Remix) - th-cam.com/video/-_K5WZ-vYx4/w-d-xo.html

you can get the gloves by pickpocketing dashing june in the undertavern
She goes there after taking 250 gold? Sorry for Necroposting, I need it :)
A big red lizard sneaks behind the bum of a man in a barrel: *extremely s u s*
All above except now there's a huge smoke cloud: I guess it was just my imagination..
Please how do you go inside the barrel before you start to steal???
press C on keyboard
that's what I get for not talking to Butter a single time this playthrough
idk what level I was at but I remember being able to steal 36k at a time I was fuckin loooooaded lol
i'm just too stupid for this game, i have no gold, no gear, nothing i do to steal works without dropping me into a fight and im too under levelled for any fights. think im done.

Fake fullscreens does this. Use regular fullscreens or windowed.
Nice!!!
I'm going to try that I'VE had the hardest Time stealing there
minute 2:28 you don't explain what do you do :(
You can just craft the smoke cover skillbook with a scoundrel and aeurotheurge books and pick pocket the gloves from her!
Noice!!!
That is not fun, if you can buy it, why need to steal it.
Stealing just needs some efforts on your end, but costing no dimes lol.
