@@TruthDefined4life Can you please name any woman who has scored more career points than CC in the NCAA division? If you argue that making it to the Olympic team should be strictly based on merit/stats without taking into consideration any other factor such as popularity (which translates into more exposure and more profits for “all women”) then why is it that Shakira Austin( 11.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 0.5 stl) is better than CC (16.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.5 stl)?

@@floatingcloud8834 Wow. You people really don't know basketball, do you?
      1) Shakira Austin is a CENTER. Clark is a GUARD. They play two completely different positions. That also means that Shakira Austin can DEFEND bigger stronger players. (Clark would fold like tissue paper.) Tell me who calls Clark a great defensive player, by the way.
      2) Shakira Austin has more international experience than Clark. Austin has won championships in other countries. Tell me what Clark's international experience is.

This is the Olympics, and although Catilin may be your world, she's really not known outside the U.S. Plus, other countries will be watching their teams play, so the views will be just fine. When we start talking about “she should make the team”, we need to begin with who is being taken off. Chelsea Gray comes to mind but that’s because of injury. If she is healthy she’s one of the best guards in the world and was the 2022 WNBA finals MVP. Unlike the men, the woman’s team really is a fight to get on the team. ESPN needs to fire Jamele Hill due to her not being unbiased. She obviously supports the status quo. Everything she says is biased. How can not being on the team is good for CC?
Christie Brennan is much more unbiased. Asking questions is the job of a journalist. Unlike Jamele who acts like she knows everything and has all the answers. From the start CC was asked, and she said she wanted to be on the team. Olympics is a once in a lifetime honor to be selected and every athlete should be acceptance with whatever role they are given.
The fact that this decision is based on things other than the sport itself is in fact waking up a dragon. It's downright stupid as what the old guard status quo represents. If you want Inclusivity you must also be acceptance towards the norm. Don't be DEI if you yourself aren't.
Next Olympics, CC should demand that none of these stooges are on the team.

What's hard to understand? I'd have watched it since it's the Olympics, and the hype on her. I have zero interest in basketball, let alone woman's basketball as most people do with female basketball. I watched young a LeBron in 04 for the Olympics, and have never watched him in the NBA besides highlights. I don't like the sport, but intrigue got me which would have been the case here with many. It's simple for most, since really nobody watches Woman & people wanted to see her for same reasons as any young hyped player people want to see, curiosity. They had a chance for people to test the water with a known name especially outsiders as Europe. They killed the Golden goose for people interested in her, that would have possibly gotten people interested in the others as well. NBA grew because of the 92 Olympics around the world, especially with Jordan & team U.S.A. being marketed perfectly. This wouldn't have been anything like that, but sure as he'll couldn't have hurt to try since she's the only name most of us heard of. Besides that thing America traded for a terrorist.

ESPN, Fox Sports, and other media platforms conveniently refuse to cover the game that was on June 2, 2024, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever lost to the New York Liberty 104 points to 68 points in front of 17,401 fans at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The Liberty beat Caitlin Clark & the Fever by 36 points. Caitlin Clark scored 3 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, she shot 10% from the field as she shot 1 for 10, she shot 15% from the 3-point arc as she shot 1 for 7 with the 3-ball, and she had 3 turnovers.
Before this game, Caitlin Clark was averaging 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists on 38% from the field, 31% from the 3-point arc, and 90% from the free-throw. Caitlin Clark is also averaging 5.7 TURNOVERS per game So Caitlin Clark is shooting freethrows like Steph Curry, but it doesn’t look like she’s a long-range 3-point sniper like “the babyface assassin”. 🔥🔥💯🔥🔥
