    I always knew Alexi was one of the top notch players but i had no idea his rig is THAT small. An Amp, 3 pedals and a guitar with 1 pickup. It takes huge balls to play with gear like this and he is doing it perfectly, while doing the lead vocals as well. My respect for this guy has risen to the sky!

      thats how rumors get started. For the record, it has been well documented that his "rig" was def not small. Some people say he actually used the weight of his "rig" to hold those arrow guitars upright in all those interviews where he would be sitting on a stool but not using his hands to hold the guitar while answering a question.

      I feel like many Finnish people may not even realize how integral bands like Children of Bodom were for putting Finland on the map for much of the world. If it weren't for Alexi, I might never know the wonders of Suomi perkele. I now know it to be one of the most Metal countries in the world. Thanks to COB I eventually discovered Korpiklaani, Finntroll, Ensiferum, Rotten Sound, Nightwish, Apocalyptica, Lordi, Wintersun, Moonsorrow. I don't hesitate to say that I digged Bodom's sound the most out of all of them. RIP Alexi!!!

Im from central america, the first time I heard about Alexi was from the mouth of Empu from Nightwish, they were in my country on their america tour of wishmaster and me and a couple of friends got to meet the band, me being a guitar player asked him who was his favorite player and without lossing a best he said Alexi!!! They were friends all of those bands hanged with each other… you can even hear nigthwish influences in some cob songs….amazing music they gave us

    When a musician only has one pick up on his guitar, only 4 pedals and a simple amp, that's when you know he is truly talented. He does not rely on 100 pedals or the most expensive gear. He just plays and performs well all the time.

    Yes Perry is a spaz. I love it. I find his genuine enthusiasm and ADHD totally endearing and likeable. He is so passionate and excited about this stuff he can't contain it. The interruptions are worth it in my book. I think the other PG interviewers are great as well.

    Less gain and more volume is really the secret to good tone. With too much gain you lose definition and attack. Unfortunately low gain doesn't sound good by yourself or in low volume situations. You really need to crank an amp up no matter if it's a Marshall style or Mesa style amp. The volume fills up the sound and gives you the saturation and sustain that you lack by turning the gain down below 12 o'clock. Treble pickup only also sounds better when you have a full band behind you.

    • @graxjpg
      @graxjpg 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      lecorsaire I would have to agree. Blowing out the preamp on any amp that doesn't have a 100lbs primary transformer is going to flatten all the dynamics that are being created by the combination of the nuances of playing and the gain structure of the amp.

    • @howtoshootstraighthtss4948
      @howtoshootstraighthtss4948 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But the jvm red channel has a lot of gain, him setting it at 1 and boosting it still lots of gain, all my modern high gain amps are under 9 oclock and I dont boost
