But Metallica got me into faster raw music. Lars double bass playing was unheard of. him and the band themselves inspired many new musicians. Reading all this hate towards him is funny. He is good but not the greatest. Unfortunately there are probably thousands of KIDS that are better than him. Some drummers that are actually masters at what they do is Eric Moore or Buddy Rich. I know they aren’t metal/rock drummers but Lars plays like the simplest rock beats and not even that cleanly. So even though he is good, he isn’t the greatest.
Everyone is saying lars is terrible, and he may not be the best drummer ever but he's not exactly bad. If he was bad then he wouldn't be able to play anything in time or anywhere near that quick. You don't have to be a technically complex drummer or know the drums in and out to be a good drummer
In his prime he was great. During the St Anger period, not only Lars went in the gutter, the entire band did. Nowadays he’s better than during that time. Hardwired to self destruct is a good example of Lars getting that skill back. Another thing that should be taken into consideration is his age, Lars is getting old and playing the drums has worn his body out. He tore his shoulder bad and had to get a fill in to play live during Worldwired tour. I agree he’s out of practice but I also hold the belief that he is over hated and his contribution to music is not taken into thought.
Nah if you ignore the drum sound on St. Anger his playing is probably the best it's been since the Justice era. I do agree that he's getting his skill back recently tho
What I don't get is, he's been playing drums for 40+ years (or 15-20 years at that time), and he hasn't even bothered to learn double stroke rolls, even though it only takes a couple of days to learn and is an incredibly useful rudimentary ever after. Granted, it takes much longer to really master the technique, but you can still do some pretty cool stuff with just that basic knowledge. If you don't know what a double stroke roll is, it's when you bounce your stick to achieve more speed and create a sustained frequency or 'tone' on the drums. right-right-left-left-right-right-left-left. If you listen at 1:44 for example, he tries to achive that effect with single strokes (right-left-right-left), but he's barely able to maintain it since you can't keep up the speed and precision that way. Therefore he pretty much abandons the idea and goes for something else right away.

I had no idea what I would find in the store would bring me up to speed on what i had missed. That tour boxset had alot of visual, audio, and book crammed inside. This was at time when there was: No internet. No cellphones to watch clips. No TH-cam. It was a simpler time to discover and enjoy new material from many artist from classic to hard/heavy rock to hip-hop and more to explore undreamt of...
El baterista que llevo al siguiente nivel al heavy metal 👏👏🤘
Absolutely without question one of the greatest drummer ever
He is good but not the greatest. Unfortunately there are probably thousands of KIDS that are better than him. Some drummers that are actually masters at what they do is Eric Moore or Buddy Rich. I know they aren’t metal/rock drummers but Lars plays like the simplest rock beats and not even that cleanly. So even though he is good, he isn’t the greatest.
If you are just joking I’m sorry.😁
N C bruh Lars can play wipeout on the drums one of the hardest things to play on the drums anymore who can do that has my vote hands down
M???????? A??????? Lol
@@MA-vd3lnWipeout!? Really!? Is it because the drummer is playing 16th notes and they sound difficult?
He's one of my idols qua drumming :D
One of the greatest solos ever
What happened to him? Did he lose his memory?
I love Metallica but I wish he still had this! What happens. Seriously
this dude could be your grandpa, that is what happened
@@siebenacht5358 exactly... his knees are fucked...
Its never years, its too much saturated fat in meat and no 100 meter sprints and not stopping seafood, FACT.

Best metal band in the world with an ok drummer.
3:40 min this sek. part is meeega EPIC
happy birthday lars.. i am a filipino, number 1 metellica fan...
Everyone is saying lars is terrible, and he may not be the best drummer ever but he's not exactly bad. If he was bad then he wouldn't be able to play anything in time or anywhere near that quick. You don't have to be a technically complex drummer or know the drums in and out to be a good drummer
Coolest drum solo ever! been obsessed since binge n purge and i play guitar but this has been burned in my brain
3:28 Metallica one drum beat
Would love to see this today!!!!!!
such an insane drum kit, mounted 16" and 2 18" floor toms haha. best one by far tho
@Mitch Pike hello, how are you doing it is nice meeting you here.
Bitte öfters machen !!!
Metallica is the best band in the world. The only band who survived the 90s and are still going on strong.
lol all the people hating on lars saying "he sucks",or "you don't know shit about drumming"
please keep commenting, you amuse me(yes my english sucks)
Nope he sucks.Any intermediate drummer could play this shit.
Cody Swager please keep going, you«'re funny :D
iamawesome funny thing is, I still haven't seen anyone drum like Lars. Yeah if he sucks try and mimick his drumming.
Glen Q if you havent noticed,i was defending lars
iamawesome I was just adding to the conversation, not against you man ☺
He was on his way to be a world renowned tennis player but said “nah fuck it, I’m gonna make the greatest metal band of all time”.
Omg playing together those two!
@@x8nis fax man
@@x8nis relistend to the record and you're right, the drumming is great on that record.
Has beens 😢
0:13 So this is why Lars turned down the AJFA Bass
Power of lars of 80s-90s 🤘🤘🤘
I LOVE LARS MORE THAN MYSELF OK BYE
Hahahahaha what re doing here!! Hahahaha
Edna Saucedo you kidding. But I like Lars too. But not thanks myself.
I remember downloading this drum solo on Kazaa
Why do people still think Lars sucks? He's doing his old style again
