Duder Regional Park - 2024

Duder Regional Park is about 40 minutes east of Auckland, overlooking the Hauraki Gulf and all the islands, including Waiheke Island. A great place for a walk and an amazing place for orienteering. Great views out over the ocean, but that means massive hills... but those views.. a wonderful mid-winter afternoon, blue skies and warm.
It's not the hardest orienteering technically, but the elevation will punish you if you make route choice errors. I went wide to 5 and 8, losing a few minutes at both with unnecessary climb - aimed for the wrong fences. Not as fit as I'd like, but 1st in my course. Did I mention how steep it was?
