    That's the original Megazord, not Alpha 5 (in the Megazord battle stages, and Alpha 5 is Zordon's assistant) There is also Gekisou Sentai Carranger: Zenkai! • @Winterhe4rt
      @Winterhe4rt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not really! Compare it to Turtles in Time the Rangers have a insanely limited moveset. And the fact that its not 2.5 Dimension but really only left to right take away another layer of potentially fun gameplay. I think his assessment of the game is spot-on.
      People shouldn't see everything old through their Nostalgia goggles. If the game is bad, its bad.

    • @FordFourD-aka-Ford4D
      @FordFourD-aka-Ford4D 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Winterhe4rt His review wasn't thorough, it was a very surface-level look. For instance, he didn't know that there's a 2 player fighting game mode that lets one player control the Megazord (which he hilariously calls Alpha 5) and the other controls one of the boss characters. Huge chunk of the typical game play experience that anyone who ever had the cartridge and looked up the cheat codes on a magazine would know. There are other things he glossed over, but that's the biggest one. (Music is also super underrated.)

    I'll also disagree on the first game. I mean...it's not the best game ever made or anything. But for someone who wants to play a beat em up, wants to chill while doing so (It's ridiculously easy), listen to great music. And finish the game in about 30 minutes, it's perfect. Easy to go through, enjoy beating up some putty's, and continue on with your day. Plus it's pretty cheap, so I'd recommend it. Granted that might just be the nostalgia talking in me, but I still go through it today usually as one of my first picks when I want to play a game on the SNES just because of how short and satisfying it is.

    I had the first game as a kid. I was a big MMPR fan and this game was huge. It was a pretty good representation of the show. The music is the best element. I recall trying the movie game at some point. 2 player co-op and morphing whenever you like was a serious upgrade. It also offers more difficulty. I'd still stick with the first one. The movie game attack button limits you to literally just a single punch, where as the first game lets you do "combos". Both are redundant in nature, but I'd lose my mind playing the movie game doing just a single punch over and over.

    I think MMPR The Movie is more enjoyable than it seems. The 2 planes instead of a "full 3D" plane helps the game to be unique, also adds some strategy to it. The presentation, sounds and graphics are excelent (except for the Rangers' sprites). But the best part are the bosses, very creative and different from each other (which is super rare for a beat'em up).
    There is also another Power Ranger game. Kind of...
    Gekisou Sentai Car Rangers is based on the show that Americans "transformed" into Power Rangers Turbo.
    (the Power Rangers series always adapted stock footage from multiple Japanese TV series)

      And the 2 player co-op is a great plus! I was really dissapointed that the first game didn't include it so it was the one aspect that I hoped they corrected in the sequel, that and the lack of the Green Ranger, which we never got but at least there was the white ranger who thankfully got his own set of sprites.

    I picked the first two side scrolling Power Rangers games from a Pawn Shop in a box of SNES cartridges (I was either too young to know what was good, or everything else was just sports titles) somewhere around 2003-ish, and I had Power Rangers Fighting Edition way earlier back in possibly '99 or '00, I could never beat the Side Scrollers and clucking Ivan Ooze (the purple guy) in Fighting Edition was unbeatable for me. My older cousin even failed at him.
    I also (not to drag on) ended up with Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue on the N64 somewhere before 2003... I've had terrible luck with Power Rangers games. I don't even bother with the newer ones.

    I disagree about the beat em ups and I do not have any nostalgia for Power Rangers. The first one controls well, has decent graphics and holds up pretty well. The second one is developed by Natsume and is obviously either modeled off "The Ninja Warriors Again" or was a precursor. That's an excellent game, but perhaps you do not like belt-scrollers. Why do people keep saying this game was released in 1995? The game was released in Sept. of 1994. I got it for Christmas that same year. The manual had advertisements for the year 2 toys as well which also came out that month. The auto morphin rangers, thunderzords all were advertised in these pages. The next release was MMPR the Movie which was an early summer release to coincide with the film, then in late 1995 the fighting edition saw its debut. No MMPR games saw release in 1996.

    I owned a copy of the first game back in the day. I thought it was okay. Difficulty level wasn't too hard and the first time I fought with the robot thing was awesome.

    I can't say i agree with you on this one except the fighter.
    The first Beat em up was absolutely for fans of the show but it was perfectly fine. Was the sprite recoloring lazy? sure, but tons of games did that and I didn't see you knocking them.
    the second game was actually a step back in terms of combat as the combo system was basically destroyed. Sure the power meter was an interesting change but I still feel the first game over all (sound track included) was just plain better.
    As for the racing game....Yeah we don't talk about that

    I can’t help but think the Zyuranger Famicom game could EASILY have been released for the NES as a Power Rangers game! Would’ve been nice for cash-strapped families still with an NES, or buying the toploader.

    The Power Rangers SNES games are like lighter versions of Ninja Warriors and GS Mikami on the Super Famicom - at least the first two you mentioned. All developed by Natsume with a very similar gameplay feel.

    There was technically one more game on thee SNES. It was for the Sufami Turbo, it was of course never released outside of Japan but was based on CarRanger which was what would become Power Rangers Turbo.

    Funny, I just picked up the Genesis game at a thrift store yesterday, which is one of the better ones if you ask me. Really, the only ones from that era that I thought sucked were the Game Boy games and the first one on SNES, the rest were pretty good for kiddie cash-ins. "Fighting Edition" was so good that Toei asked Natsume to make a game for Carranger (the show that became the basis of Turbo) for Super Famicom, and (like you said) the engine ended up being reused for that "Gundam: Wing" game. There were also a couple of Super Sentai games on Famicom. The one for Zyuranger (the show that became the basis of MMPR) is nothing to write home about, but the Jetman game is decent. It was also developed by Natsume, and seems to use the same engine as "Shatterhand".

    > SNES drunk: OK Google, what's the name of the, uh, robot from Power Rangers?
    > Google: I mean... Are you asking about Alpha 5? Or Alpha 6? or the android duplicate of the turbo rangers? or how about any of the zords or robot monsters ever?
    > SNES drunk: Alpha 5. Got it.

    The only Power Rangers game I ever played was a PC game. I think it was either Neo or Zeo. Something like that.

    I really enjoy your videos but I definitely have to disagree with the first review. Fans of the show definitely enjoy the original MMPR game. It may be boring to others, but don't act like fans wouldn't get anything out of it. It is very faithful to the show with the enemies and boss fights. And even if you're not a fan of the show, at least get the name of Megazord right. This video just seemed lazy.

      MultiTarded I don't disagree that non fans might not enjoy it, I just don't think he was right about fans not getting anything out of it. I feel if you're going to do a video, do a little research on the subject, especially if you don't have any experience with the source material. He makes great videos, I just thought he did a poor job on this one.

    I was like 16 when Power Rangers first aired. I would get home from school and watch Batman: The Animated Series, which for a while was followed by Tiny Toons Advemtures, and then Animaniacs. Power Rangers would come on after that and I'd just watch it and laugh, I thought it was such a hilarious show that looked extremely low-budget. I really enjoyed that show.
    Hilariously enough, my grandmother actually bought us the first Power Rangers game for Christmas despite the fact that we were way too old for that show. I think she just wanted to buy us a game and had no idea what to get. I played it anyway, and you know what? I thought it was pretty darn decent. I'd play it again.

    One thing that really bugged me about the first power rangers game on super nintendo is there's no stage based on green with evil (episode that introduced the 6th ranger) nor does the green ranger appear anywhere in the game.
    He shows up in the sega games, but in the nintendo games he doesn't appear for whatever dumb reason.
