I used to work at a charter bus company and we had a sales staff. Oddly, they never actually used the product they were selling. I suggested they ride along on some of the charters to gain a more in depth knowledge of the product but they felt like that was a "terrible" idea.
Hey, I don’t have any engineering degree. What I do have is a technical school degree (electrician) and I got a sales job for a solar company as a sales engineer. If you’re bright enough and happen to have adhd lol. You can do it without a college engineering degree if you have the ability to hyper focus and teach yourself how to design technical systems and sell them to commercial/residential customers you can absolutely be successful as a sales engineer without a bachelors degree.

Tough one about long term as I might not even want to keep working for someone else and rather might want to start something of my own. Maybe defining long term would make it easier to me. My bad 😅 2. I’m not tired of software development but given I worked previously at startups, working at a corp with 100k employees feels slow and when I see people with 20 years of experience in my team with the same SWE title, it makes me want to push myself further to not stay stuck in same role for so long. 3. Immediate benefit of the switch might be monetary and also exploring a new side of me. 4. When it comes to what aligns with me, it might probably be a laid back career which I’ll just continue for the sake of continuing until my other income streams make me financially stable enough to not have to depend on a job for a simple living. I’ll focus on working on something I enjoy fully even if that effort doesn’t make any money initially and many such failed attempts even so long I enjoy the journey. I sadly can’t afford to invest fully on a failing venture now financially. 5. I think I like working with people even if it’s not in person.

I once met a person who had this ability. I was always confused about the difference between RAM and ROM, but he explained it to me with easy to understand analogies.
