SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged Lagoon 450 catamaran, which Colin rebuilt with friends and has started sailing around the world. We found bulkhead damage on their catamaran in Panama, so have fixed her up, and are now sailing across the Pacific Ocean!!

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I can't stop smiling! It truly was a trip of a lifetime. See the comments about me is very special. I appreciate every single one of the.
You were such a great addition to Parlay Don! We hope to have you back again soon 😊
Watching now from Morrisville, NC. Glad you got to sail with Parlay Don
I’m so happy for you!!!!! I feel I’m there with ya just
With your excitement for the adventure ahead!!! Hope to see you aboard again!!!❤️❤️
Great to see you had a great trip. Really enjoyed this one. Beautiful. From Taylorsville, NC.
What an experience, Don✨💫 You’re the kindest soul, Colin✨💫
From another 70 year old, you're right about probably not having another 20 years. Colin inspired me to stop waiting and buy my boat. I plan to hit the water on my own boat in the spring of 2025.
That’s great to hear! Good luck with the launch in 2025 🙌🏼
Well done sir.
Colin, thank you for considering the older folks. They have lived a good life and have a lot to share if anyone takes the time to listen. Full respect from this 70+ year old.
Don's adventure makes me so happy! Good for him!!
Yes, as someone said, living the dream through you all. Will probably never get to see Bora Bora, so this was special. Also, kudos to you for picking a 70 year old sailing mate. So glad age isn’t always a problem and you are open to sharing the dream with others regardless of age. Very special!!❤
Thank you!
on that day a new star was born...@@ParlayRevival
I’m living this through your eyes. I’m a retired police officer. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at an early age. I love your channel. Keep it up!!
Good on you Colin for helping make your Patreons dreams come true!
Much appreciated!
Man a Parlay video is the right vibe in this miserable winter freeze.
Thanks and stay warm!
What a festive dude Don Johnson is! 🤩
Colin, as a metallurgist I'd like to point out that you should also replace and carbon steel rollers that come in contact with the stainless chain. And also clean out the locker from any old rust, contact with carbon steel will cause :galvanic corrosion" which will transfer the rust from the carbon steel to the stainless.
I remember seeing pictures of the cook islands as a young kid at school and was amazed at them I'm now 65 years old and going for surgery on the 26th to remove a tumor on my small bowl I love you videos and I'm sure will help me with my recovery if everything goes to plan . thanks Collin and the team.
Sending prayers and positive vibes on your surgery. And wishing you a great recovery. Congratulations Don and Shannon! 🎉 See you back soon Katie 🩷. Hugs from Texas 🩷🤠🩷
Best wishes on a speedy recovery!
Wishing you a very speedy recovery!
Sending you love and prayers for a quick recovery.
Hope all goes well and you recover quickly.
I am an old man like Don and I can share his excitement, although I spent a part of my life as a sailor and got see all these places. I hope he has a great voyage and I'm sure he will get the hang of it in no time. Look after him guys, it takes us older folk a little longer but we can still do it right. Bless you Colin for giving Don the chance, his smile tells it all.
PARLAY TEAM if you are reading this please film more Don content, possible Don Merch.? This guy is a walking legend!!!
Haha the idea of Don merch made me laugh. He is absolutely a legend!
Matching colours of course :-) @@ParlayRevival
Hi Colin, I have noticed that your anchor swivel is directly attached to your anchor shaft. It is not the best setup. It is recommended to use three links of chain section with one end connected to the swivel and then the other end to the anchor shaft. This mitigate problem of destroying your swivel if the boat change their direction in high winds at anchor. If there is a significant sideway force applied to your swivel it may break. The small piece of chain will mitigate that problem. I thought I would let you know, to add additional piece of mind while at anchor. Fair winds
Makes me so happy seeing you invite Patrons, so generous of you. Love it.
Appreciate that, thanks!
It was sooo sad leaving!!! 😭😭❤❤
Great video guys! Loved Don's reaction to being chosen, I will never forget that feeling!
Also it’s nice to not be the oldest crew member ever anymore, sorry Don.lol
Glad to see that the chain finally showed up. What a great upgrade. Bora Bora looks spectacular. See you guys in Auckland in 2 weeks!
I can't think of a finer gentleman to take the title from.
The Ancient One
Can’t wait to see you chosen! Wish you were coming too Don.
@@ParlayRevival Why did you go with 318 vs 316 ss chain? Thought someone may have already asked, no result via search.
@Don, don't recall Stephen attempting anything remotely similar to wakeboarding. You would have got up with more HP (maybe a lighter Colin).
Upcoming Vid, Parley gets gifted a larger outboard for Don's called back for another attempt (jumps shark like Fonzie).
At 58 I'd give it a go, as long as Jamie's not at the helm, & I can wear a one piece.
Hey DJ, you old Bastard we are neighbors. SC here so glad you got piece of the action. We made it this far bud.. Enjoy
It's funny how much Don could be Jamies dad Dad sitting alongside each other at the end there. Once again wonderful job and we always look forward to your next episode.
Thank you!
Flying fish don’t count. Warms our hearts u include a variety of ages…we loved watching Don’s joy 🇨🇦 ❤
Glad you enjoyed it, we loved having him!
Loved Don's response on getting the news to join Parlay Revival!! Such a special opportunity that meant a lot to him and to the crew. It's so cool that Colin sees the experience through the excited eyes of the Patreon. 🥰 I laughed out loud at Colin's explanation of the huge spray 😆It was especially neat to see Don's first days on Parlay because I have read all his notes on Predict wind. That water in Bora Bora is amazing! I have to get there to see it in person. Guess it will have to be by boat..💸 Beautiful new chain. So much cleaner and way safer in the anchor locker! Seems like it should be standard. I've learned something from you again. Another great episode!! Thank you for sharing!
Bora Bora is truly one of greatest experiences of my life. You must get there.
The color of that water is truly something special! See you soon Tammy 😊
Thank you for the compliment on the chain. 😊 We also think it should be standard 😉
As an 84 year old, anyone over 70 has the right and priviledge to amend competition rules even after the competition has been completed. 😂
😂
I think the bet's intention was that Jamie is to catch a fish, so flying fish don't count.
I love how inclusive you all are!! Another awesome video!! ❤
Thank you!
I think it's very nice that you offer all kinds of people an opportunity to break out of their everyday routine and experience a great sailing adventure. Just don't let a serial killer on board - Jamie won't be happy about it, and there are hardly any places to escape on a ship.
"The water is just so blue!" is exactly what I said as well when we arrived to Bora Bora last June. It really is impossible to describe the colors when the sun hits the water, but it was love at first sight with this place 🥰
Great episode as usual👍I agree Don’s reaction was great, good for him👍👍👍
Thanks!
This episode just raced by, I couldn’t believe how fast it went. I have always wished I could go to Tahiti, so thank you so much for taking us to see it. Given the price of these accommodations, I can assure you I won’t be going there, but the water is an amazing colour. I think a fish jumping on the boat isn’t quite the same as actually catching it, but maybe worth half the amount of the bet.
What a perfect life you live, I can’t thank you enough for taking me along ! Please stay safe.
Thanks for following along!
Go Shannon! Making your grandma proud :) more video please so we can all live vicariously
HORAH for the old guy's !! I'm 79 and still kicking around , a stroke took the wind out of my sails for a while . But with a lot of hard work I'm up and about. Had to sell off my motorcycles and went to helping my brother with his trawler. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
Hope you have fair winds and following seas.
Thanks man! Glad to hear you’re up and about after that, appreciate you following along!
When I watch your videos I think that being 68, I'm too old for that kind of thing. Maybe I have one burst of fun left in me! Thanks Colin.
Absolutely go for it!
Jaime and Collin are the fiberglass 👑👑 now after rebuilding the Jaime 465. Too funny that's not a Lagoon 450😅.
It's Sunday. It's Parlay time. Life just got brighter. Keep going with the Patreon guests - it adds a really interesting dimension to your adventures.
Great to hear! Thanks for watching 😊
Loved hearing about Shannon and Don's stories! Also, nice job fixing the gelcoat, Jamie!
Bro spliced that anchor line like
No big deal , that would take me 2 plus hours and plenty of mistakes ! Nice deck work skipper
Can't get enough, watching your videos make me wish I was 40 yrs younger and doing this... ❤❤❤
Intro still always gets me 😢❤
Colin your videography is pro level, stunning. Glad Don was able to come along.
I've never been more envious. What an incredible life you live.
Great to see you choose Don to join you. He seems a great guy and as im 65 this year it makes me want to jump on my cat and set sail. Havent got a chance to come see you guys in NZ yet but still hoping to catch you before you leave. Keep up the great work.
‘The Ancient One’, ‘The Chosen One’ aka ‘Chosen’ … awesome! Love the nicknames 😂
Glad you like them!
Don and Shelly (I am sorry, I don’t remember what you said her name was, I am dealing with a head cold today) are fantastic. She comes with experience and Don comes with lots of personality and a willingness to learn!
THAT WATER! Dreamy🥰
Good on ya Colin, Good Kiwi Spirit !!!
What a fantastic thing to do for your patrons. Truly once in a lifetime experience.
Great video guys! Love seeing that South Pacific blue, while dealing with northern Canadian snow! 😂 Canadian girls are terrific!!
it great to see your having some more elderly people as crew.love your show and im 72 and a old salt myself.sailing and fisherman.
Ahh I’ve missed the gel coat days! So good to have Jamie the engineer back on the stream 😂
Well done Colin👌👍 glad to see you giving us old guys & gals ( & the young ones ) chance to be crew 😊
Bora Bora has always been a dream. It will stay that way.
I am a former liveaboard, who sailed a bit. I am so enjoying your adventures. I am so happy that Don was able to join you.
Kia Ora Colin and all, I found your channel by accident after Watching "Below Deck Sailing Yacht" (old seasons). You were my favourite person on the show 😊 anyhow I loved this episode, I am in the travel industry and no matter how many times I quote Tahiti/ Bora Bora/ Moorea etc my jaw is always on the floor when I'm reading out the prices, it's crazy! It's so awesome that you share all these journeys for everyone to see, much love from Australia! 🦘
So gorgeous! I would say a fish that jumps on board is still technically a fish on board regardless of how it got there.
Colin so cool you are having someone older.
I’m 56 and feel like 22… I always felt too old to apply LOL. A good cook, fisherman… can fix anything and sail :)
Aim to get my own boat soon anyway :)
Thank you Colin your videos always make me happy. Much appreciated my friend.
Glad to hear it, thanks for watching Mike!
Dang the chain is nice. Will be awesome not having to scrub the deck all the time.
Jamie you’re a gelcoat master.
My wife and I chartered in Raiatea in Jan 2020. All the locals told us to just skip Bora Bora. It was about the time that Archer's mooring broke and put her on the rocks. Given those 2 things we skipped Bora Bora and really enjoyed a week in Huahine, Raiatea and Ta'aha. It was magical. The only issue was that it was rainy season so we had to watch out for squalls.
Sorry Jamie, love you bro, but a fish jumping on the boat is not you catching it. 😂
Shinny, sexy, SS chain and ⚓️. 😍
The blues of Bora Bora. Thanks for sharing. 💙
Thanks for the great comment 😊
Loved seeing Bora Bora. Never seen any video or pics any better than this one. Fair Winds y'all from North Carolina.
Ahh, Sunday and it's Parley Revival time. Thanks
Don's awesome. What an amazing adventure he will have and share all the memories ⛵️
I might need a "Don" T-shirt. He is a natural for the camera.
God Bless Collin and the Parlay crew MORE than they are blessed right now!
Beautiful place great content from people who want every penny you have to people who ask for nothing.. 👍👍🙏🤙🏼🇬🇧
Definitely have to catch the fish. I'm with Don on this one 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing your adventures.
Thanks for following along!
These videos are just getting better and better. How cool to bring an old timer onboard to get the sailing experience with you all. Colin you have the biggest heart ever. ❤ Peace and 💕
@4:47 Glad to hear you're coming back Katie! Happy New Year!
Good on you guys...It was so fun to see Don living a dream of a lifetime.
You chose the best anchor, Ultra and all new Stainless chain-very smart. Anchor with confidence. Glad you are able to market your boat and feed that back into more boat improvements.
You need to learn how to use a spring line departing a dock.
Love seeing Don on the boat!
Just insanely beautiful! The colors almost don't seem real.
Right?!
That was great. Love it all.
Everyone should have a Jamie as a friend!
Great week! Don and Shannon are great additions to the crew! Bora Bora is unbelievable, how wonderful to be able to enjoy it mostly for free!I have to say don is my favorite now, what a great guy, you can see how much he’s loving this opportunity. See ya next Sunday!
Spectacular footage! Amazing how beautiful the colors of the water are ,and the clarity is breathtaking...Once again thanks for sharing parlays journey, magnificent.
Oh Jamie, I am one of your older viewers as well a little bit younger than Don and I love living vicariously through you. The videography this time was absolutely breathtaking as always it was just unbelievable. Thank you so much. 💕🤟🏻 sending love and Fairwinds at your back for a safe passage from LIZ in California❤⛵️😎🇺🇸
Another awesome episode of Parlay… those colours of blue water looked amazing.
Hope you get to go back to Bora Bora one day. It was exy in the late 90’s too.
Great meeting the new crew.
We were in Bora Bora on Jan 7. Wow! What a cool place.
Nice!
Gives me hope that I'll get through this current storm and find myself on the water in a happier place.
Tonga, Samoa. My dream destinations.
Great episode guys! That Bora Bora drone footage is just incredible!!!
Thanks once again for all the positive content.
The best sailing channel! Thank you for sharing your experience and adventures with us!
Great episode. Such amazing water colours and scenery.
8:24 Even those blue eyes got my attention.
Love that living the experiences through the new quests.
Absolutely beautiful!
Awesome! Still blows my mind how the sailing community attracts such amazing people Don, and Shannon the latest to prove the point!! Absolutely beautiful job of bringing us along for every aspect of you journey. Even including little mishaps,( which Jamie masterfully fixed). Great episode Crew! keep on having a blast!!!!
Colin you have a huge heart and we all love that about you and the crew. Welcome to Don from an ex Tar Heel.
