Mental illness is actually worse in so many ways than "physical" illness. The sad thing is that mental illness still holds a lot of stigma and is not treated with such seriousness as other types of illness.
I’m a nurse. I once fell in the shower getting ready for work. Got ready anyway and did my 12 hour shift. 5 days in when my leg was black, blue and purple I had it X-rayed and sure enough it was fractured. Had to wear an air cast for 8 weeks. Nurses are the worst patients 😂😂😂
I wonder if for the first one it was adrenaline, at least partly, that caused the pain tolerance. Which, can make things worse because if you don't feel it you may cause further damage by putting strain on it
Yeah, it had to be adrenaline because otherwise he wouldn't be standing there worrying about his girlfriend.

When I worked in community nursing as part of my training , one of the clinics was family planning. The nursing sister said this young couple , in their early 20s ,were having problems conceiving. Anyway , during the appointment , the nurse asked what positions they used. After a lot of umming and ahhing, they said that she lay on the bed and he stood next to the bed. We looked at each other in confusion, after some gentle questioning it turned out that they knew that babies were attached to the mothers by their umbilicus , so in their minds this meant that was how a woman got pregnant. They'd been married for 4 yrs and never had penatrive intercourse. Basically , he'd been attempting to penetrate her belly button for 4 yrs. To say they were embarrassed and shocked when told how to have intercourse would be an understatement! Within 2 months she was pregnant, but they'd been attending the clinic for 6 months and were on the infertility testing list. This was in 1979, how they never recieved sex Ed at school wasn't ever discussed. I can still see their faces when told they were doing it wrong, his relieved and hers slightly repulsed, but obviously worked out for them in the end.
Wasn't there a similar news article from China sometime ago? The couple had also been married 4 years, but had been doing it up the wrong hole all along.
Had a friend break both bones in his forearm went to the hospital told them they said he was lying so he flopped his arm for the intake nurse she got sick and freaked out because he showed no pain.

I had to look up what was hepatoblastoma from the fifth story and I am devastated. Because those "parents" were "satisfied" with the constipation diagnosis now his 4 year old doesn't have a liver anymore just a clump of malicious cancer.
That's a vital organ and he is only 4. Some people should never have children.
I had to look it up, too! Luckily you can get a liver transplant with a good match. The donor will regenerate.
@@jema2609 Yeah but how would that work? The kid has no liver anymore it's all cancerous cells, can it work with just a donated portion?
Yes,it works. Our liver is composed of two "lobes". They remove the child's cancerous liver and replace it with one donated lobe.
I just looked at the Johns Hopkins site. They say that the donor liver will regenerate for both donor and recipient.

Although I can relate to forgetting you had a surgery before. One time I got diagnosed with a surgery I never had though lol
When the radiologist read my bone scan, they said my knee surgery looks like it’s healing nicely. And I reread that sentence multiple times in such confusion to the point I had to ask my mom “Hey, mom… I never had a knee surgery, right?” We we’re both so confused. I still don’t know what the black dots equally apart on my knees are that showed up on the bone scan lol
Adrenaline is a scary thing. People have been known to lift CARS off of people. Parents fighting off danger to protect their kids.

and its not because they dont want to do the healthy way. these products ARE advertised as THE healthy way
My parents don’t always take me to the doctor right away and I still have unresolved stuff. Here are some of the things that were wrong when they didn’t take me right away but eventually did: constipation, horrible stomach bug/flu, Covid, hemorrhoid from the constipation, a cyst that isn’t harmful but it’s there, ear infections, stuck ear drum, some sort of bladder infection. My mom refuses to believe she does this bc her mom did the same thing when she had pneumonia and she got over it before going to the doctor (I had pneumonia as a kid too). But they don’t always take me bc some things end up being nothing though I still believe something is terribly wrong.
I've heard from medical staff that though farmers do tend to have a high pain tolerance, they're terrified of needles.

Blood thinners?! Dude! You’re having a surgical procedure and you don’t tell them you’re on blood thinners?? 😮 He’s lucky the Dr was able to stop the bleeding 😬 I’m on so many meds I have to tell every new Dr because they can interfere or can be dangerous if taken with some other meds I can’t imagine not telling your Dr important things 🤦🏻♀️
How can you FORGET something important while going to the hospital for it? you don’t write it down or smth??
Well if you didn't happen to write it down being in the hospital can be quite stressful and make it hard to remember seemingly little things

The boyfriend a real one! I suddenly feel single-
Was working at an A&E (ER) late one night and a woman came in, rather calmly, and announced that her boyfriend had done something to her while she was asleep, but she didn't know what. It just hurt a bit. We gave her an x-ray and found a snooker ball up where it shouldn't have been. Anyone who knows anatomy will tell you that you can't possibly put anything up that far while the woman is asleep. Turns out she was off her head, too. So we had to wait for the drugs to wear off, so that we could give her real drugs for the pain. And then we had to tell her that she had to give birth. To a snooker ball. Most memorable nightshift ever.

Agree with Ellen about losing weight. I once had someone make me drink expensive protein drink to make me lose weight and follow a meal plan just because their friend group is doing it. It worked for a while but I cannot afford it on my own. Now, I'm monitoring my own weight by lessening sweet and carbs. It's slowly working. No pain, no gain!

For that parents story where they were satisfied with constipation I had that happen but with a doctor it was a mini attack I had because my appendix was going to come out later I believe that year and apparently it’s common to have small pain attacks before it needs to come out due to it almost exploding and instead of investigating further they blamed it on dehydration and then talked down to me and mom because I guess they didn’t want to deal with us now as an adult and remembering that it makes me so mad that they didn’t try to investigate further as I could have gotten my appendix possible removed earlier and may not have been in so much pain because of it 😑

I have a lot of health issue and some of them cause me permanent pain. So last winter I did a follow up exam to see how my bones, muscles and all that were and discover with that I had a broken leg. I didn't felt any different pain and my doctor realised at this moment that I'm really use to an hight level of pain.

As a country girl you grow up tougher, like I've fallen down ripped a pinky tip sized chunk of skin off my knee, I had to peel it off the pants, just put a bandaid on it and was ok, those jeans became cut off jeans as they had blood on them,. I also cut my finger on an angle to the bone wrapped it up and went on still have a scar, cut my hand open while looking for antique glass bottles in the creek, put a clear plastic bag over it to keep it dry and no extra dirt, I continued looking for another hour. We have one hospital, the other two are an hour away in either direction, I work at the one in town, so I figured if it looks bad, I'll have them check it out, where I lived as a kid it was 40 minutes away, so you think quick apply pressure, wash it out and if it stops bleeding, you are good.

For the second one, why didn't the girlfriend say anything though? They interviewed her to get medical history and stuff, then made her comfortable for the wait and she _didn't_ mention her boyfriend was quite literally _hit_ by a car? Like his actual body getting slammed into by a car to shield her? Because they only found out that happened when _he_ remembered and brought it up later. Props to him for protecting her but damn. He literally risked his life and she didn't even mention that part, at least for the sake of his safety and receiving medical attention too.

Had a gay friend who met a guy on tinder dated him for half a year. One night he spent the night and at 8:30am my friend chased him out screaming when I asked what was wrong my friend said his boyfriend's alarm woke him up and when he saw the meds he was taking he freaked out...... The guy was hiv+ and never bothered to warn him as this was a fear my friend had as he had been raped on a date in the past and did a full std screening scared the guy may have given him something. Luckily he didn't get anything but later admitted the guy kept trying to for go the condom
