Thank you going to install the same garbage disposal this weekend. Was worried about wiring it up. You explained it well.

It's been 3 weeks and she's still working!! Thank you!! I'm off to build a fire pit now. Really trying to kill this horrible bush thing while I'm at it. But thanks again!

No problem. Look into solo stove. I have one and love it. Got the heat shield too to go with it. Worth every penny to have a near smokeless fire.

I'm kinda glad that happened at the end because I needed to tighten things too and I would have been lost. Thanks again!

That was a fun project when I replaced mine a few months back.

Hopefully it wasn't too bad for you. With filming, I had it all done in about 30 minutes. Thanks for watching!

This was a very informative video…if I may add a few observations: 1) instead of cutting the disposal elbow b/c it was too long, I just re-used the existing elbow from the old disposal; 2) I didn’t have a snap ring kit but it didn’t take more than a minute getting snap ring on; 3) the old disposal (insinkerator) was very tough to get off, partly b/c (in error) I unscrewed the phalange and realized I needed to keep it screwed, also it was really stuck in there but patience and perseverance got it off 4) there was not a “front” marker anywhere on the sink parts so I assumed it didn’t make a difference and 5) my previous set up the dishwasher didn’t connect thru the disposal, and when I changed that to connect to the Moen disposal, the hose didn’t fit the disposal dishwasher, so I had to go to local hardware and get a hose connection kit that fit the 7/8” disposal hole. It was my first garbage disposal replacement. Took longer than it should but now it runs great..thanks for your video.

What brand of cable strain relief (clamp) did you use to hold the cable tight?

Get a 3/8" Halex clamp connector. That did the trick on mine.

When switching from an Insinkerator to a Moen, is it NECESSARY to change out the drain assembly/flange for the sink?
Or can I just put up and twist in the new Moen?
What are the advantages for changing it out?
    (thanks for the great video!)

Not necessary. It’s a “universal” fit. I just replaced mine with a moen…. I chose to replace the sink assembly to freshen up the look. But definitely not required.

      @@djjinxman1 Thanks!
Yup. Super easy. Unplug the old one. Disconnect the drain pipe and tube (mine didn't go to the dishwasher, but was some sort of vent). Twist the disposal off. Easy!
Twist the new one on. Attach the drain pipe and tube. Plug it in. Voila!

One issue I did have (DO have) is the Moen didn't come with the plastic/rubber "fins" for the top of the drain. They seem to be built into the drain assembly/flange. So, without a sink strainer, I can look down the drain right at the garbage disposal blades. A bit unnerving, but I suppose as long as I don't put my hand down there... 🤷🏻‍♂️ (no kids in the house)

Please don't stick your hand in the disposal while its on! Hahaha. Appreciate the comments and you watching! Glad it helped.

Ok so I'm pretty jealous bcuz my box did not come with a snap ring tool. Can I buy one? Driving to home depot or Lowe's on a Sunday in Mississippi is probably THE MOST dangerous thing that could be done....lol

Mine came with the snap ring tool. Double check your box. Appreciate you watching!
