Once I found this video, I deleted all the others because you are so thorough and show all parts of the process from electrical to replacing the sink connector. It's the only video that explains it all and I needed that. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this very instructional video for us.

This is one of the great video about installing garbage disposal unit from scratch to finish. I watched several videos on this but they are not as detailed as this video. Thank you for patiently explaining all the tips in detail with such close up video and I was surprised at one point you were redoing the step again to explain or show the video with close up shots to explain it with more clarity. Thank you so much for your time and patiently explaining all the steps and this helped me replacing my dead garbage disposal unit with a new one. Thank you so much. My folks are 90 and I noticed a puddle under their sink. The GDisposal was leaking like a shower head. I pulled it out, went to Lowes, purchased a 1 horse powered sinkerator badger quiet model, and put it in in-less than 1 hour all thanks to you. I was a handy man in my later years and put a few in but it’s been 10 years or so. Your lesson was superb. Keep them going and thanks again.

this is pretty good;
2 tips:
-when putting the mount back up, MAKE SURE you have the screws in correctly. duh, right? nope. if you don't do this but once every ten years, and the screws have fallen out, or been taken out...don't ask me how I know.
-use some masking tape to temporarily hold the mount under the sink.
-you can then easily use both hands to spread the retainer ring and put it into place....a lot easier than futzing with a screwdrive.
I watched both videos you produced on garburator installation. Very thorough and easy to follow. Thanks.
This is the best DIY video I've ever seen. I like some of his tips. I'm 72 years old and just had knee surgery a little over two weeks ago so the tire jack worked like a charm for me when I mounted the unit. BTW that ring was a real pain.

GREAT video. Love the little details thrown in - such as open part of the ring away from where your holding it to put it on and actually showing the putty application . It's little tips like that that really seperate your video from so many others. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this.
Your video is great! I am a retired lady and I changed out mine with no problem. It wasn't too heavy either. I lined up the areas you mentioned and used the tool provided to tighten it up. THANK YOU!!!
This was one of the best DIY videos I have ever seen. Nice job. I watched it and then removed my old one and installed the new one without even looking back at it again. There are a couple tricky tips and he showed you exactly how to resolve and included some troubleshooting. Everything was just exactly enough to do the job right. He did not show in detail how to reconfigure the PVC drain pipes (he has another video he referenced) but even there he told me enough to figure it out anyway. Great job!!!!

Thanks for a great DIY video! I'm in the middle of installing an Insinkerator 1/2H Badger 500. The disposal was so rusted it finally froze up. It was starting to split the motor casing from the expanding rust. I had a difficult time trying to remove the split ring from the sink and rest of the pieces. Wound up using a sawzall. Once I cut the split ring, the rest of the pieces fell off in my hand. Sheeesh, what a pain! finish the rest tomorrow. Thanks again for a clear video. Nice lighting and good camera work.
Just wanted to express my appreciation for a simple YET well done tutorial for replacing a garbage disposal. The minor details (for example: using a screwdriver to remove or install the metal ring and hammer and screw driver to open) gives your video/tutorial a more genuine feel. I had looked at several bad videos before coming across this one. This showed me everything I needed to know. Great job explaining the complete job. As an FYI, I was able to upgrade from a Badger 5 (1/2 HP) with a BADGER 900 (3/4 HP) without having to make any plumbing modifications. Some viewers might want to know that.

The thing they took me over an hour. Since I had NEVER touched a pipe before.
I didn’t know what to do with the blue thing for water tight seal. Since I didn’t know what to do with it. It took me about an hour.
I googled how to fix a pipe with blue thing. Once I seen how to put it on the pipe I was finished with 5 Minutes

Thank you so much. You were the third video I ran across and my favorite by far. Whoever installed my previous one didn't have the disposal bolted down correctly so when I was trying to get it out. The whole assembly would turn. Just needed a clear sanity check to make sure I wasn't the problem. Definitely gave me some piece of mind putting the electrical back in to see you do it first.

There was no white cord on the plugin cord, but here i learned that it had to be the ribbed one.
It works fine now.

Thanks for the vid. Mine started leaking last night, got a direct replacement this morning and took me about an hour replacing it. Didn't mess with the ring portion of it, just a direct swap. Oh, and used a car jack with two boards to hold it up.

I also want to thank you for the informative video and for keeping the video online. Out of 13 videos, yours was by far the most thorough and helpful. I couldn't find any videos that named the metal ring that's on the garbage disposal itself. I think it's called, a "lower mounting ring" and it's the one that you need to tighten with a tool in the dog ears. It came off and I'm not certain how to re-install it or how far down I should put the ring.

Replaced my disposal for the very first time ever and was grateful to come across this video. Step by step, easy to follow, awesome explanations. The only thing I was not able to use because it just wasn’t compatible or I just couldn’t figure out how to properly remove it, was the supply cord from the old (GE) disposal. I had to make a run to the store to orchard the power cord kit.
I like your tip to use a screwdriver to keep the flange from moving. Great video. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this!! I replace our disposal (against my husband's recommendation to hire it done). Previous disposal was not installed completely into the "snapped in" position and therefore had rusted the ring to the flange. After a bit of CLR and a toothbrush and good ole elbow grease, I was able to complete the installation on my own! Thank you!

Especially for segment 24:00 to 25:45 . My kitchen was renovated and a new kitchen sink and disposal has had a small leak since the disposal and the dishwasher has operated. I believe the metal neck gasket was leaking since watching your video.
Your video gives me confidence to reinstall the entire disposal of it leaks again.

Excellent DIY video. You made the installation so simple I could finish this project in under 30 minutes. Snap rig is stiff and awkward to get on by yourself, but I manage to get it on with some perseverance. Thanks again; you saved me over $150 in labor costs.
