There is no better feeling than everyone seeing the reveal trailer and going: "This is going to be trash." Then it releases and it is. Helps one feel vindicated. And the line: "These Saints look like people the original Saints would run over on their way to more important gangs." Still holds true

@@antonhanna2423 Man unlike the 2022 Saints, the Deckers had their own charm to them... and well, were kinda badass let's be honest, they had a whole sci-fi female Sonic on roller skates with some sorta gravity hammer and dual wielded SMGs break dancing and spraying bullets in every direction. They never explained why/how it existed unlike the Brutes, but whatever.

They fucked around and found out. They doomed themselves by desecrating a once beloved franchise and deserve every bit of shit luck.
So it turns out that Volition, the company behind this game, is now folding and forced to merge with Gearbox because of how bad the game did overall. I always love it when a company that practices these slimeball tactics is shut down. A little advice next time to these developers: don't insult or belittle the audience when they criticize a game for being bad.
I'm surprised they kept their jobs and were allowed to merge with Gear Box. I know I'll be looking extra close at Gear Box games now knowing who's helping develop them....Gotta imagine Embracer hopes there aren't too many people like me who will do the same.

In the first game, the Saints were formed by Julius after watching his city being torn apart by gang violence, and watching his best friend become no better than the gang-bangers they were fighting against.
In this game, the Saints are formed because... the founders didn't like student debt and middle managers.
What an embarrassment.
The should have remade the original game Final Fantasy 7 style and left all the characters the same. It would have been infinitely better for sure.

Exactly this. Johnny Gat, esp. in the earlier games, is absolutely NOT someone you want to be around, it's very clear how dangerous/crazy he is, just being around him is tempting bad things to happen. Making them "relatable" is literally the opposite of what they should have been doing.

Why do you think Bud Lite market towards the LGBTQ+ people and publically attack their regular customers?
Why do you think Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) didn't replace their Chief Risk Officer for 9 months while spending months to prepare and plan for pride month?
The answer is because these corporations do not see the people that buy their products as the real customers. The real customers are investors and investor bankers. People that grant them free interest loans.
These investors will look at a corporations ESG Score to see if they are a approved corporation to give this amount of money to.
Since ESG scores are ranked based on how much of you support progressive and left wing movements. All corporations that want high ESG scores will be 100% for the LGBTQ+ politics, Social Justice politics, Enviormental Doomers politics and so on. It doesn't matter how much these corporations actually care about these subjects. They just need to publically display the support for all of these causes.
This is also why they attack regular people such as with Bud Lite. Since a lot of these people are conservative and more "right wing". It is progressive to attack and demonize these people.
Bud Lite thought it was great to attack its current market demographic because they assumed the people will just buy their beer regardless of what they do. You can insult them how much you want without anyone even knowing. So to market themselves towards the LGBTQ+ while dencouning frat culture and regular workers was seen as nothing but a win-win for them. They expect that people will just continue to buy their beer as always while markting to a new costumer based while at the same time getting "progressive" points for ESG scores.
The problem was that they attacked their own market demographic and thought they can get away with it. The customers were not the average Joe that buy their beer, even if they pay their bills. The real customers were the investors that gave them money for supporting political interest groups.
SVB was the same. Their customers where not the actual customers that put money into their bank. The customers where the people that supported them because they held the correct political point of view. This is why they didn't care as much about the risk in how they managed their customers money, but were more interested in displaying the correct point of view.
The reason SVB fell apart was because they had placed all their money in extremely risky positions and didn't care about it. That came back to bite them.
You see this trend in Saints Row Reboot as well. Why do they all support progressive movements, communism and all talk about student debts? Why do they act like they are running a corporation where they pay their employees with a wage? Why do they think a lawyer can show up and say another corporation can OWN a criminal gang because they violated a non compete clause?
Because the people that main Saints Row Reboot do not market the game towards real gamers and the fans of the older games.
This is why they even insulted and attacked the old fans.
Their customers are not the real customers. The real customers are this extremely tiny minority of extreme progressive and left wing gamers and invetors that give them money for holding the correct position.
Or the developers and writers are just extremely incompetent.
Here is something for you to think about.
Why did all corporations in the past have rainbow flags during pride month, apart from in countries that do not treat that stuff kindly?
Why do you think almost no one had pride flags during pride month after Bud Lite crashed and burned?
I can tell you that it isn't because of wide spread hate among the general public.
What Saints Row prequel we actually needed is
- Stilwater set in the 1970s
- A new engine
- Well written new characters that are not one dimensional
- Immersion
- Enterable buildings
- More activities
- Edginess
- Better gangs with distinct appearances and always hates the Saints
- No bullet sponge enemies
- No trend chasing

As a former developer of some of the older Saints Row games (sound design), this breaks my heart to see this new game fall so short. Saints Row has been a big part of my career and my life! Haha, I love that you have some Pro Tools screens up in the intro scene.

I've never been an avid Saints Row fun myself, I played it ONCE at my friends house, it was 2006. I didn't like it at all, I cared about GTA and Mafia more. But now I think that it was so cool back then, that we got all these options. And I know that Saints Row was about absolutely insane activities, not about story - honestly, not my cup of tea, but some people like it, and its cool that they had this option.
Now, we don't have a new GTA in TEN years, we don't have a new Mafia game in 7 years (and Mafia 3 was shit, also Mafia 2 wasn't that good) and a new Saints Row that looks like this.
The Epic Store exclusivity makes more sense now. Volition and Saints Row 2022 trying SOOOO hard to cater to the Fortnite crowd.

The character creation in Saints Row 2 was the best and the amount of clothes you had. I managed to find clothes I worn in real life it was awesome seeing your character back in cutscenes or creating celebrities. The music was great the humor as for the story. There are too many snobs in the gaming industry today and it's killing gaming. Back then it was let's do what people love, today it's let's do what I love.

Honestly for me the most infuriating part of the reboot was them completely discarding the old saints. Shaundi, Oleg, Johnny gat, mat miller, pierce, Ben king, kinzie(best saint imo), etc.

I'm so glad the community was able to get Joe to review this mess of a game and expose it for what it is.
The game was already exposed by many others right after embargo lifted -- Joe really should have done this immediately and left Madden behind. But I will say that Joe brings up certain areas that should be addressed, like calling out the developers specifically for going in the wrong direction, and parodying some of the more stupid elements, like the jokes.
Plus Saints Row can’t touch GTA especially when they are trying to be the same game
Is it really that bad. No offense but I’m not much of a nitpicker. I’ve enjoyed games like anthem and cyber punk despite the games problems. Please let me know if this game is worth playing or not I love saints row.
@@Druggy-Doggo Don’t listen to the vitriol and hatred some of these people are spouting. People trash the reboot like it’s a 1/10 just to fit in, but in reality, its like a 5. 6 at best. The characters, while fine on their own, DO NOT belong in this game. They feel out of place when it comes to running a gang, compared to previous titles. The action is solid, very similar to SR3, for better or for worse. You can change a lot of various difficulty options like enemy health and tough enemy rarity. The open world design is dated, but the driving and customization are very good, easily the best parts. You can change your Boss literally anytime right from your menu now, instead of having to go to a location and pay money for it.
The worst part is, without a doubt, the co-op. It’s REALLY buggy, to the point where it’s almost unplayable. That’s honestly the only aspect that kinda deserves the hate.
But aside from that, the game overall isn’t bad enough to garner this kind of mob-like reaction. It’s not awful, there’s still fun to be had, but I’m definitely disappointed by it.
Still, if you like the action and customization of SR, I say at least give it a try.

Its kind of sad in a way, the original name of Volition was Parallax.
They made Descent all the way back in 1995 for MS-DOS. I knew that game all the way back then in the 90s. Now that they have shut down, its like an insult to the original team and their legacy even though they are not the present company. Wokeness destroys everything it touches.
Remember the names of the people who worked on Descent. Don't remember Volition.

It's amazing how the self aware the original cast were, in terms that they KNOW they're awful people yet the fans still liked them. So in 2022 they TRIED to make the cast relatable but it backfired so hard that EVERYONE HATES THEM

Exactly. it's scarily amazing that you can tell the exact type of people the writers of this game were just by watching a few scenes of it: white, upper middle class, college-educated who have never even driven through the ghetto let alone lived in it. And they wanted to write a story about the start of a gang? If they had actual talent then they could pull it off; truly good writers don't need actual, real-life experience in a subject matter to write something engaging. But they also put in the work of researching their subject matter. It's supremely obvious that the writers of this travesty did nothing but sit down with each other and throw ideas at the wall to see what would stick. They wrote about criminals as they understood them, which was not very much. They don't understand that turning to a life of crime is a move of desperation, usually done when a person has no other options and nothing to lose. To these college-educated, no life experience hacks, turning to thievery and murder is an easy choice, something to do when you need some extra cash to buy a waffle maker. These writers would probably defend themselves and say that they didn't need to do research since they were writing comedy. To that, I say, this... "Do you hear anyone laughing?"

Oh dude, you ain't kidding. The game is still buggy AF, too. I was constantly locked out of completing a story mission and had to uninstall and reinstall it just to get it to work. The only amusing thing is the bad dialogue and some of the animations when ur LARPing

I know what you are saying. I've been playing Saints Row since 2007 and it started declining after SR2. This was their one last chance to redeem themselves and they failed miserably. The characters and story sucked so much that I didn't realise I'd completed the campaign until two days after I completed it!

idea of a way to sequel this game. 10 hours of Johnny gat curb stomping the little shits that are supposed to be the protags of this saints row.
I didn't think it could be worse than I expected, but they managed to accomplish that. Literally everything is bad; lighting, gameplay, story, character creation, writing. They could've just remastered or remade the first and second Saints Row games and people would've been way happier.
I know it's torture for Joe to play these horrible games, but the reviews are so damn entertaining. Thanks for suffering for your art Joe. Loved this one.
