I will take actual results and knowledge over click bait any day. Be proud not to be a TH-camr. Most of them are just internet poiliticians. Unbiased knowledge is hard to come by these days.
I seems that most of the dyno testing has been in high heat. The other issue is how different the results have been on some Dyno tests. One test in REVan Evans U-Tube channel showed a 15 horsepower gain pulling the carbon traps and replacing the factory cone air filters with K&N filters. The biggest gain was mentioned by Steeda. They installed Kooks headers in their Dark Horse and picked up 40 horsepower on their Dyno pull. One final item I came across was a new Hennessy Dark Horse called the H850. An 850 horsepower supercharged Dark Horse. It was basically hidden in their S650 and Dark Horse U-Tube comparison. I clicked "more" on the article that took me to *Hennessy performance* where I found the H850 information.
Steeda wasn't datalogging either and they also messaged me privately to ask about wrench light and limp mode issues they were having. I suspect they were running the car lean inadvertently and when they 'fixed' their issue, magically they picked up big power. We figured that out in a previous video. It's on this channel. filter and carbon traps are not worth any power IMO based on my personal testing and years of experience with this platform. I wish I was wrong but I don't think I am in this case. If you add headers to a car and the car starts adding 2-3 degrees on its own, did you pick up 40hp because of the exhaust? or because of the headers?
@@jordanperformance well if the headers are the reason the car is adding more timing I would say it is because of the headers same with the carbon traps if the car is adding timing before of the improved airflow well then the carbon traps are making the power since with them in you lose the power. it is no different from fuel that allows more timing is it the timing increase that makes the power or the fuel.
5-7 is a much more logical number. With the stock system having two large filters, it has to flow very well without any mods. I would do it though. The cost is not an issue compared to other dollars per horsepower.
why change from the stock filters would have been nice to see the results with the stock filter I wouldn't be surprised if the stock filters flowed a bit better.
Palm Beach Dyno literally had a unmeasurable difference, they did gain a few when they left the cover off of the air filter housing and the fans blowing directly on them and I think they had aftermarket filters other than that its unmeasurable ... boy I wish this nonsense would come to an end sometime about these carbon traps.... good video though good luck with the Mustang.
Nothing is better than the stock air box unless you go bigger and then You have to pay for a Tune to do so.... I am not paying a 1000 bucks just for an intake... I Learned that lesson years ago.. And they could have just went with a bigger throttle body and made the same power instead of making 2 more points of failure..
Yep, it wasn't a bottleneck in the Gen 3 either; with the 24s, it isn't a bottleneck x 2. Yet most people will still fall for the marketing hype and waste money on hot air intakes and filters that let tons more abrasive particulates into their engines.
They work just delete carbon traps is an improvement but I bet throttle body extensions would help;) I have on gen 3 and huge improvement plus nine drive throttle control
The dual factory intakes look like they already flow a lot of air. I wasn't really expecting much. Maybe run it with no filters to see if that gains anything.
The stock filter flows enough anything gained from a aftermarket or no filter would be a tickle more at most up top. Dont get anyone started about filters or no filters... they tend to get super anal about the microns of dust that should be filter... Have yet to see anyone of them dyno with a HEPA filter lol
@@NXT_LVL Completely agree with the whole filter/no filter microns of dust perspective, BUT . . . I had a daily driver supercharged F150 and I had to replace the MAS twice due to failure due to being "dirty", So the microns can wreak havoc🙃
Its like with all Dynos, yours is yours and the next 10 people have theirs. The difference is which are inflated for the numbers (aka for clicks and views) and which ones are calibrated to actual specs.
Love this man, I’m looking to get a 24’ GT as a daily. That aside tho I lived down the street from your shop, i have a remote tuned genesis g70 that’s rwd, how much would it be for a dyno run, just to see how much power I’m actually putting to the ground.
After after reading a bunch and watching videos, it seems like the most restrictive part of the coyote is the exhaust. I wonder what a set of long tubes would do?
I have people trying to talk me into doing an Intake for my S550 and for $800 plus having to flash the ECU, I am not beat... I am going to save and wait and then take the car to Pro's..
It's so funny because people have to have those intakes, they swear by them and they are really just for looks.. I did powered coated Ingen and Charge piping for my turbo under the Hood of my Juke.. It just looks nice, but it didn't help my tuner make more power.. He Flashed the Same Map he would have used with stock piping...
Great video Ford powered forever baby keep on pulling the knot out of them boties and the horns off them mopars l love it your test is the same as all the ones l have seen the 24 is consistent l love that about it Ford done a great job with the coyotes keeps getting better and me as a mustang phonetic lm future
@@MustangDad53 driveline power loss. Every car will lose a certain amount of power through their drivetrain. Mid-engine cars usually have the least amount of power loss.
What octane in the car? And did you log the pulls? It definitely breathes much easier with those modifications done no questions about that. If octane was 87 that’s definitely not high enough or even 93 it might not be enough to support the additional airflow
So this right here is like My second reason why I thought the 2 throttle body's was an Over The Top Stupid Move, The Cost of aftermarket intakes, But my Number 1 reason for not liking that dual set up is because its another point of failure.
Doesn't seem worth it to me. The entire reason Ford went to this dual intake setup was to get the flow rates back up WITH the carbon traps that the EPA mandates now.
not sure if resonator will add power... but you know we'll do back to back dyno testing to confirm it :) And the valves are wide open on any and all dyno pulls I do
It's nice to occasionally stumble across an honest video with real-life results in a sea of marketing hype. Well done, Sir.
Thank you!
This type of technical content is 1000 times better than any "gain 20whp now" clickbait type stuff
Thank you!
Thank you for your honest and transparent review and testing.
hey, found this channel thanks to a dealer close by to you.. They just got me a 24' GT and told me about you.. Will be on the lookout for new vids!!
thanks! Let me know if you're interested in lowering springs or any other mods :)

Real person behind the camera that's always good, pretty much what I expected 15 to 20 more horsepower
Yep, 15-20 more horsepower...in Minecraft.
I took my s550 to 3 dynos in one day and got within 3 hp .The Coyote is the most consistent engine me and my friends have seen.

You made a 3 horsepower gain which seems realistic. 3 horsepower is still something.
3 hp with up to 2 degrees more timing...where did the power increase come from?
Moral of the story is the intake isnt the bottle-neck in the gen4 coyote process
Yep, it wasn't a bottleneck in the Gen 3 either; with the 24s, it isn't a bottleneck x 2. Yet most people will still fall for the marketing hype and waste money on hot air intakes and filters that let tons more abrasive particulates into their engines.

Hot - 90 something degrees🤔 I’m north Texas, it’s not hot here until is 110°+ 🤠
Cuz Texas humidity level it’s lower, that makes heat less uncomfortable. Everybody knows FL it’s a swamp

Dude I’m pumped to see this type of stuff. If you ever want to muck about with the f150 5.0 I’m in.
I'll keep it in mind!
On average, the power loss for a manual Mustang is 70hp... so 442whp equals 512hp at the motor.
Not sure what u mean? Why manual loose 70hp?
@@MustangDad53 driveline power loss. Every car will lose a certain amount of power through their drivetrain.

93 octane. Yes we logged it. Follow up video is in link description.
@@jordanperformance Awesome thanks for the reply. Lastly do you have the part # for the k&n filters handy?

Awesome video!!!
Dam I really like this car😍
Thank you! I'm a bit partial but I LOVE it myself
Every manufacturer claims HP gains..it’s a billion dollar biz selling aftermarket..Testing always helps separate rumor from fact
Do you guys have the part # for the filters? Not on K&N site yet
R-U 1037 is the part number for K&N. Installed mine 3 days ago.
How do you shut the engine down so quickly once it reaches redline?
push the clutch in. It's not ideal to have the car hanging out at 7000+rpm for extended periods of time with no load on it
It’ll be more of a gain when you can tune it and the throttle bodies aren’t closing 20% lol
What makes you think throttle bodies are closing? They're wide open on all of my logs
Probably makes as much real power as a cold air intake makes on its on.
So around 410 on a mustang dyno. Not bad.

Video is so long because of alot of junk material.. took you over 1 minute to get out the car and show the initial results 😬 informative video though
you aint lyin! Thanks for watching!
So that adds 7 hp plus a x pipe with resinator delete that adds another 3 hp plus open valves that’s another 5 hp lol
not sure if resonator will add power... but you know we'll do back to back dyno testing to confirm it :)
And the valves are wide open on any and all dyno pulls I do
