    What overdrive pedal is your best bet for getting a tight modern sound out of your Mesa Boogie Rectifier? Well, I have 8 killer pedals to shootout and see! All settings used are based on my preferred in the room sound, and overall, this is a subjective way to do things... but I guarantee one of these pedals will do the trick no matter what your preference. What do you think sounds best?

    Great video!! Im using the Maxon

    Joyo is killing it these days and the noise gate?! I’d be happy with any of them, I use a DemonFx 808TS9 clone and I’m almost good. I also owned the Amp You did the Demo for. 2003, and it was the best high gain monster I’ve ever known. Orange channel 2 boosted! Holy grail tone. The clean sucks but whatever. Your videos are giving Me Mad G.A.S. And You playing in excellent! Thank You!

      I have yet to find a pedal in the Joyo price range that is as well built and killer sounding as the Argos. $30 it is like a must have pedal for any high gain application. I need to get my hands on a Horizon Precison Drive and shoot them out.

    For the cost of some of those pedals, you could by 6 Argos pedals and stack them.

      That is true! I only ended up keeping a couple that really had some useful features for dialing in a tight high gain tone on both my rectifier and my EVH.

      The plumes just sits well sonically without being over the top. I plan to do a few more shorts doing some head to heads. I also think I have my list of keepers from this experiment. Making room for more newer ODs! 😂

    With the buds I'm wearing, I thought the DS1 was most trebly, most sounded similar, and the soul food sounded most pleasant to me. As in it wasn't as "shrill" as the others but the mid was definitely there. I personally own a plumes and with my own setup, bounce back and forth between mode 2 and 3. Mode 2 for the doomier/stoner vibes (play on an orange amp) and mode 3 for the more modern metal vibes. I like that the plumes has a lot on tap as I feel like I don't have to peg any knobs out plus the 3 mode switch. Is it better? I wouldn't say soundwise it's any better than the others but has options on top of the achieved sound which is a preference.

    • @BaritoneGoatStudio
      @BaritoneGoatStudio  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think the soul food keeps a lot of the warmth of the amp and still tightens it up. In the room it is a little darker than it is with the chosen IR. The Argos, Mudkiller and MXR are all geared toward getting very tight punchy tones and they tend to be very mid forward when dialed in like a TS would be. Seems to be the “modern” djenty tone that folks are going for. But the Mudkiller is one I should do a deep dive on because it can be a bit more tailored toward aggressive tones that range from trashy to more metalcore vibes. The Plumes has been my go to for a while. Mode 3 is a modified TS circuit, so it is easy to dial in and get a classic tone. The headroom on mode 1 and 2 though seem to allow me to get a bit more bite with the tone tacked. But I also tend to run it a little less treble heavy than some people like.

    I'm personally not a rec fan I like the mark series more. You can sculpt those better. The only OD that tightens up a rec for my application is the dirty tree

    • @BaritoneGoatStudio
      @BaritoneGoatStudio  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had the dirty tree for a while and shot it out against the plumes in an earlier video. I ended up liking the plumes more. I sold the DT, but am thinking of getting another and giving it another chance!

      @@DylanHutto with all the tone shaping they have built in I could see it being a pretty powerful way to EQ the signal going into an amp. Ola Englund’s demo into the effects return was also pretty crazy to hear. It didn’t have any of the fizz and was pretty chunky!

      Once you upload a video to TH-cam, you need a damn good reason to want to delete and re-upload given how long it takes to render and process the video!! …and “Recifier” wasn’t worth the trouble! 😂😂😂 but I still said “dammit” once I saw it!
