The first one i bought, i thought i'd use it within my guitar rig. However, i tried it in my bass rig, & the drive/distortion it gives was the tone i was looking for. Been on my bass rig ever since, & i liked it so much, i got a 2nd one, & Earthquaker Devices Gray Channel (which is also on my bass board in conjunction with the DOD 250 placed after the Gray Channel). Loads of crunch/drive/distorted/fuzzy tones at my disposal, with the flick of a few knobs/switches. Love the circuit, the pedal itself. Thought i'd need a tone control/or miss having one, but nope - this delivers in spades.
To any bass players who frequent this channel, i highly recommend the DOD 250 as a drive.
I run my DOD 250 Re-Issue after my Boss BD-2 into my AC15 and it balances out the mids nicely. Great $40 purchase, just love it !!

$75 on Reverb…alongside the Blues Driver, and Super OD, every player needs one in their arsenal.
I've been playing for years but also spent many of those flat broke, so never got into pedals as a result. I spent years noodling about on a used Zoom PS02 for guitar emulation.
There's two patches I love in it for OD, but I never could figure out the OD they emulated. It wasn't until recently that I caught a tone dragon I was chasing.
I got the Pelican NoiseWorks 50/50 which is two DOD 250 circuits, each on their own side. It's a clone of the OG 250 circuit and I couldn't be happier finding the OD tone that was/is the cornerstone of my harder edge stuff.
Still have and use my original I bought in 1980 or 81. That and my A/DA Flanger are the 2 pedals I've always kept.

Fluff, I know this is a little out of your comfort zone stylistically, but you rocked it!
The chords sound really nice with saturation at 3:00! I could see myself using it in some prog break during a song
when I see someone talk about the DOD250 I always expect diminished runs and harmonic minor
I have a DOD FX50. Thing sounds dope. EQD White Light is their take on this circuit.

I actually dial in my Seymour Duncan Super La Rica Fuzz to have a very similar sound. I dig this pedal.

What type of cables do you use Fluff? Those ones on a movable henge are quite interesting.
Oh the DOD 250 can be used as a boost alright, just ask Yngwie Malmsteen who has the level and gain completely maxed in front of a wall of cranked Marshalls 😂

Wht surprised me from your demo is how much gain you have compared to mine, but I think that your setup and volume of the pedal. I'm using a clean amp, unity volume on the pedal and a Telecaster.

As a fan of strung out I would love if you would do a how to get the twisted by design tone video. From what I understand they used mesas and 5150s. I know you have both. Please help a fellow pacific northwestern out.
I actually messaged them back in the myspace days. Suburban wasteland blues was recorded with a Marshall JMP-1. More than likely that was the case with Twisted by design.
that recent pedal hype is just stupid, i bought one of the originals back then at thomann for 55€ new and i sold it last week for 250€..same with the ibanez ts10 and a boss hm2..i bought a nice boss katana head with orange 1x12 cab for that money and do not regret it. cheers 👍🎸

I couldn't bond with the DOD250. The overdrive sounds harsh and brittle. Sold mine pretty quick since I couldn't get a good sound with it.
