So there it is! The Z900RS will be a very fun bike on track going forward for me I think, way easier on my hips than my gsxr too! What would you do first?
I tell everyone, the best way to learn the capabilities of your bike is do a track day. Also trailer your bike in so you can carry all the essentials you need for the day including drinks and a seat.
I agree 100%, it also makes you a lot more comfortable on the bike and what it is capable of imo. Yep! U-Haul is my new best friend :D Their bike trailer is very useful.
Oh yeah, nice track day. Upgrades sound good. Now to that teaser bike. Yeah. MOAR ON THAT YOU BIG APE! 🤣 But seriously, it's great to see you get a track day and have some fun. I can't wait to see the upgrades and how they help on the track.
It was a brilliant day, cured my mind parts. I need to make time to do more of them next year. Haha in the next video :P Yeah I'm struggling to find replacement suspension for my weight currently but we'll get there, well, affordable stuff anyway. 2500 for suspension I do not want :D
A Valkyrie? Now that’s unexpected, but I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it! Track day looked like fun. I’ve never done one, but it’s a goal for the future!
@gromtrooper offered me a deal too good to be true, plus I've always loved the Valkyrie, I think it's a real pity they don't still make them. I LOVE riding on tracks. You should definitely try one :)
Wow, loads to take in! Great that you had a fun day. Very interested in suspension mods you choose (why, how, etc - cus I know next to nothing about optimum set up). OC Easy mods first (sprocket, ABS delete, etc) - agree that it's worth sorting the Z900 to suit, great for road and track is ace. Cruiser too! - marvellous!! Cheers, Andy.
I can't wait to go again! Haha I am no expert either! Basically it's just getting springs spec'd for your weight!! Makes a huge difference in my experience :) Yes indeed, and it'll be nice for the LONG term then :) Haha more to come on that big beast :P
Hi. i have the 2022/23 RS. yes they do have preload adjustment on both front forks, its the 14mm nut on the top of each fork leg. also the slotted silver screw type fitting inside the preload nut is for setting your rebound, one on each leg. the compression is a slotted screw down on the bottom of the right fork leg as you sit on the bike. front forks on these bikes are fully adjustable. hope this info helps.
Maybe they added it, it's possibly only on one leg on the 2019 I have to check. I know the leg I tried to adjust - didn't. I know how to do all the adjustments, compression and rebound I messed with a little since but the springs are just way too soft, thanks for the info tho :)
@@TheGorillaBiker Hi again. Yeh im not sure if the early bikes only had 1 preload on 1 leg but im pretty sure they had both ?, could be wrong but like you said its worth a check. One of mine was a bit stiff the other day so wound them in a bit gently then backed them both right of and then set it up again. Iv been trying to fine tune mine in between the rainy days lol. Nearly got it good. Im sure the preload nut is 14mm. As you said the springs are most probably to weak for your weight/size. Defo worth swapping them out if you can get a good price on some good springs for weight/rate. Must say they are good bikes out of the box and even better with a few mods. You make good videos, straight to the point and honest opinions on bikes and after market parts etc. that tail rack suites the bike 100%. Ok hope you get your suspension sorted and following for future updates, have a good day mate.
@@jdh4041 I'm away for a few days but I'll check the legs when I'm back and update you, yep 14mm as far as I remember too and it was just spinning doing zero adjusting on the right leg.....never checked the left like a silly goose. Yeah it's a job of patience for sure eh! Oh they're 100% too weak. Couldn't even brake in to the heavy corners properly since I was bottoming them out and had to try settle the bike again before the turn. Absolutely brilliant bikes out of the box, the average person could happily ride it as is forever. Thanks! Glad you enjoy them :) Thanks bud, you too!
Ha ha. We all miss things at times, glad to hear both legs have preload adjuster, makes it even better. Im the other way with suspension as im on 60kg so have to get rear shocks for my weight etc and im sure the front fork preload has a range from fully closed hard to fully open soft is about 12/14 full turns of the nut, i just set my rider sag at about 30mm which for me is about 3 full turns of the nut in from fully open, i did have it at 4.5 turns in but it was a bit hard. I dont ride fast crazy on the road, just the speed limits-ish😂 because iv got speeding points already lol. And i dont do track days, its just a riding bike for messing around on but i think im finally happy with the suspension set up now. I think the front preload is reasonably strong & even someone of your build might just get away with like you said tightening wind down the preload a few more turns, worth a try for sure. Its a pain not having visual marks on the nut but all i do is fully open them right out & mark a 14mm socket with a sharpy pen & just count the turns using the mark on the socket, thats the only way i can get both springs accurate. Ok thanks for reply, hope you mange to play with the preload to get it better, cheers john 🍻
Hi again. I'm the other way, 5 foot 9 inch tall and only roughly 60KG so i have to nearly always change my rear shock, iv have a great set of K-Tech fully adjustable shocks on my Harley iron, very good. also when i had my Z1000 get 4 i put a Nitron R2 fully adjustable shock on it and that's what i have fitted to my RS, great shock and you can get a spring rate for your weight. i deal with a company in the uk called Brookes suspension, very good and very helpful. the K-Tech or the Nitron are both good, my Nitron was about £750 for the fully adjustable piggy back shock.
I've found race tech do just spring replacements for the forks and shocks, so I may go for that as a budget option rather than splurge. The nitrons in the US are sadly as expensive or more expensive than ohlins, I'd prefer to give them the business but ohlins probably would win that argument if I can swing the cost.
I am looking at those, it'd have to be with a cafe fairing that had a double double screen of some kind. We'll see what I go for. I agree, it's so pretty 😁😁
@TheGorillaBiker mad max 1 and a movie Stone (wich was out before mad one had lot of same actors) both featured the zed 900 I think stone is a great biker movie

I would :) I know you'd respect my child :)
@@TheGorillaBiker Yep. I would. I got the front up a touch today on the rocket 3. Only a tiny bit but hey, it can.

Turns out I am a moron and they do have preload adjustment, just no visual adjuster. So I could have loaded them up by about 8 more full turns!

The ECU tune and decat will transform the performance. Turned my Z900RS into a hooligan bike!!!!
Yeah I need to get budget sorted to get it done, can't wait to try it woken up a bit!
Even with out the footage I appreciate you sharing the experience of your Track day. Hell yeah and beautiful bike man. 🍻 👏 ✌️
Well glad I made the video then :) Man there is nothing on this bike that has disappointed me so far!
@@TheGorillaBiker I have one I make content on it cause there is so little. Just haven't done a track day and love the idea.
Great content 👍
Intron do a rear shock and fork cartridges, just have to let them know your weight and riding style.
You should definitely do a track day!!
@ticthedog I presume you meant Nitron? They're crazy expensive imo, more than Ohlins. Otherwise I would.
Just found your channel 👍Love your humorous patter...watched your WV ride. Beautiful. Thank you. Happy New Year!
Welcome and glad you like the channel, thanks for watching and happy new year :)
I can't forgive you for not recording the track day, so I guess you'll have to do another one so we can watch
If you come down for a track day I'll be very happy.

I say Choon not toon. But that's the Aussie way.
Usually I say choon, I've always wondered which way is more betterer.
I wish I could do a track day with you.
That'd be awesome! You should some day!!
Im considering buying a z900rs to add to the garage. Im wondering what your height and weight is. Im 6'4" and 260#.
I'm 6'7" and 285lbs. Stock suspension is definitely weak but the rest of the bike is excellent.
It would look cool with an old school fairing the zed is one sexy beast
I am looking at those, it'd have to be with a cafe fairing that had a double double screen of some kind. We'll see what I go for.
I agree, it's so pretty 😁😁
@TheGorillaBiker mad max 1 and a movie Stone (wich was out before mad one had lot of same actors) both featured the zed 900 I think stone is a great biker movie
Ah the old z1, absolute weapon of a bike. Stone is decent, most films that feature bikes are useless but that one wasn't bad!
What was that big Cruiser bike??????
Honda Valkyrie?
Mayyyyyyyyyyyyyyybe, all will be revealed.
Ship the GSXR. I could ride it over for you.
I need to price it out tbh, I want to.
