    I own a z900rs Cafe and everything is stock, I love it the way it is, just got suspension adjusted but the overall riding experience is so pleasing, the sound, the mechanics, the simplicity and the linear torque.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  ปีที่แล้ว

      If I could have grabbed a completely stock one I would have kept it mostly stock I think. Suspension is something I'll have to do as it's not sprung correctly for me from factory! A QS is definitely also been done :P And should have been on there from factory imo.

      @TheGorillaBiker New bike is nice, but we're now thinking biking experiences, seeing new places is more important. At 60 ish, it kind of focuses your mind on what's really important and what you can cram into your last fit and active biking years.

    I think you will get on with this bike well. Def worth tidying up the damage, be it with replacement parts or a cover... am sure you'll be able to find a second hand cover for the one with the deeper damage. Can't wait to see you ragging it around on track, and seeing you get the spanners out to give it a full once over.
    I keep seeing the Z900 and Z600 in my local dealership, they are stunning, and I could very much see myself on one if I was in the market.

    Such a nice b-day present to get for one's self! :) The Z900RS Cafe was what I almost bought back when I bought my ZX-14R. I was SO close to buying it. It was the lime green cafe bike, too, which is my favorite look for a bike. In a way, I'm glad I didn't, only because it would have been stolen instead of the ZX-14R, and I would have cared a lot more about it's loss (losing the ZX-14R almost crushed me). I rarely go for bling-style things for a bike but, if I was lucky enough to have a Z900RS, I'd look into the OEM hardware and cafe fairing to complete it's look. It doesn't NEED it to be a good looking bike, Kawasaki did a great job on the Z900RS, but with a cafe fairing on, it's pure sexual chocolate. :)

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha indeed it is, I was very kind to myself :) Oh yeah, I mean both would be devastating but I think the Z900RS I'd bond with a bit more. Man anything like that getting stolen would break my soul. I absolutely hate thieves. I've ordered different bars, I don't actually like the OEM much myself! Too chrome :P Cafe fairing is very very nice though so I might eventually do that.

    I baulk at the word retro (backwards). The whole labelling culture irritates. It floods social media with people busily labelling themselves. The Kawasaki Z900rs is a bike with all the advantages of the latest tyres, brakes, suspension, fuel management etc. but styled like one of the most iconic motorbikes. Yes I would love to try one and just see how it feels. It has quite rightly become much sought after. I applaud Kawasaki for creating it. I find Honda's CB1100 like the proverbial horse designed by a committee. 1970's rear end, dented tank , spoked wheels and CBX side panels, just a styling abortion. The Z900rs is a great bike and is definitely a looker as well as a performer. Will you get a trackday tank? The problem I have with those mirrors is they are not in your eyeline. You definitely have to look. Happy Birthday ! So how are you going to top this ?🤔 I look forward to seeing your 100 point check. 🛠. Good to see such a happy Gorilla. 👍

      I take it more as the definition( relating to, reviving, or being the styles and especially the fashions of the past : fashionably nostalgic or old-fashioned) primarily the reviving bit. Bike were better looking in the past imo, the Z900RS for instance doesn't have a heap of plastic and whatnot and still has a metal tank. For the bike world anyway I think it's just labelling since every bike has a genre these days.
      The Z900RS is honestly what I'd love to see so many bike manufacturers doing, modern good bits with the older frames and whatnot, that were cheaper to make, sure heavier but imagine bringing costs down and still having bikes look like they did. Madness I know.
      I think you'd love it tbh. Simple, not too much power and planted with great brakes. Same, Kawasaki did a brilliant job.
      I've always been ALMOST drawn to the CB1100, I don't even know what the one thing is that stops me wanting one. But definitely there are a lot of ingredients thrown in there in the hope of making a good meal.
      No I probably won't, unless I find a tank cheap that's been crashed! I hate the mirrors :D
      Haha I doubt I'll be able to top it!! Thanks Stephen :)

    Congratulation on the purchase! I got a used 95’ Aprilia 6.5 when I turned 40 and decided to handle the mid-age crisis early on by taking to riding again. A few years later I bought 04’ Aprilia Caponord and by then Mrs was already a dedicated pillion. Now that both Aprilias are getting old, I have decided to look for something lighter/smaller with similar power as the Caponord. I am overwhelmed by the Adv looks and decided on the naked instead. I have narrowed down to two models, this Z or BMW R1200R 15’ model. As it stands I am more inclined towards the green matte 18 Z9 for about the same price at the dealers. The reason I am choosing this over the R12 is bcz I dont like the Transformer look and of course the extras in terms of maintenance and upkeeping compared with Kawa. My only concern for now is the engine heat, heard that the RS emits heat quite a bit. Just wondering if this is true? If so how bad it is as I am sure you’d agree most big bikes are heaty. Living in the equatorial zone, this is one factor to be considered IMHO. Other than that I am all set for the 18’ Z900 RS with about 29k km on the odo. It comes with a wind screen and SHAD sideboxes. There’s a couple more in the market with the same classic colour as yours. But the asking prices are higher and i personally like the rugged green look more. I am lazy at cleaning my vehicles, so i know the green one would look more rugged when soiled compared to the chrome ones. So I hope you have been enjoying your bday gift to yourself as I did with my first love, 95’ Aprilia Moto 6.5! Would appreciate your comment (and your kind followers) on the topic of the engine heat, is it bearable. Thanking you in advance before I go down to the capital city to do my probably last purchase of a bike, now that home is bidding farewell and the grave is preparing a welcoming party at late 50s! All i want is to enjoy the last ride and the Zed looks like the right choice. Thanks again Sir.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you!! Two great naked bikes there so you wouldn't go far wrong whatever you picked :) I actually prefer the green myself but yano, you take what is available :) That one sounds good though, screen and boxes and all!!
      On the engine heat topic, it's certainly not a cold bike but I rode it home in 90+ degree heat and was never bothered by it or noticed anything unusual. I've ridden it plenty since too and never been bothered. HOWEVER, I do always wear motorcycle boots and some form of protective trouser so that may play in to it, the only place I've ever felt any high heat is on my right foot, which I believe it being blown out by the bread box. I don't think you'd be upset with the Z and if you change the header pipes then you'd likely kill some of that heat too :)

    Sure I have one. Also, like you mentioned: mine was a bit 'snappy', nervous on the throttle. Not anymore, after an update. It is by far the smoothest linear machine I have ever ridden.
    As far as I can see, you have a lot of 'straight' roads where you live, that is a pity.

    My favourite bike also. Only thing is I’m not one for cleaning my bikes especially to a high standard I just chuck a bucket of washing up liquid over mine when I’ve killed enough flys to fill the bucket. How is it compared to the Aprilia Falco? You are now in the USA? How is it there to ride and to live? You have a very good mindset for riding motorcycles. This has gotten very rare in Europe.
    Your journey from the UK to Germany in very cold weather condition have me more confidence to ride again. A was always riding, but now after a hard injury and with 42 it's time to come down. As I told you in a former video, my Falco is complete modified and it kills my joints. I have a carbon exhaust, so loud, that it is a matter of time, when I get cough from the police.
    The Falco is the most brutal bike I have ever ridden. But it is not original. Much stronger. I don't like the new assisted bikes. ABS is OK, but not more. You are a true biker... Because I don't greet animore on the roads. I use my old bikes also for transportation. Who else in Europe does this in the northern countrys? I whis you the best

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Different definitely, less raw I would say for sure but also a hell of a lot more comfortable. I will say if the Falco is too uncomfortable for you now then one of these would be a massive improvement, they do also need upgrades to get them where they should be imo. Headers, tune and a few others. I'll be working on some of that soon!
      Riding in the US is good, it just longer to get to the good roads, definitely not as good as riding through Europe and seeing all the history. That said a lot less police and people here are better with bikes in general.
      It definitely seems to be a dying passion sadly, people prefer ease and comfort now. You too!

Starts not well, but the sound and power is so great. I have a 900 Yamaha TDM as well. No problems in 5 years and 5 liters of fuel. Comfortable also at a speed of 160kmh. Whis you the best.

      @@TheGorillaBiker All I'm saying is that Kawasaki put a lot of time, thought, money, and engineering into this machine to make it as exceptional as everyone who has one, says it is. I've had mine for over three years and have a lot of seat time in it. One of the things that makes it so great, is the perfect rider triangle. The relationship between where the handgrips, pegs, and seat are, is singularly responsible for how comfortable and how great the riding experience is, over time. They absolutely nailed it with the stock height seat, stock bars, and pegs. Powdercoat the chrome bar to black and enjoy the perfection that Kawasaki made here.

      I'm an engineer myself, mechanical, and my obsession is bikes :) The rider triangle is actually bang on for the average person, I am very far outside that target at 6'7. I wanted wider bars, so I ordered them :) I'll be changing more than that too!
