Kuze isn’t a badass, he came at Kiryu driving a motorcycle at full speed and attacked with a pipe. Kiryu is the badass for blocking the pipe with his forearms.

My favorite one is the 4th battle how Kiryu just punches his jaw to the sound of his jaw breaking then the transition to both of them standing up is so badass.

I love the symbolism of the shot at 3:08 with Kuze's expensive shoes being submerged underneath filthy sewer water. It just goes to show that, for all the glamor of the yakuza life, Kuze has determination and never shies away from getting dirty unlike Awano or Shibusawa. While the other lieutenants wait for Kiryu to come to them, Kuze pursues him underground through a sewer.
That scene was filled with symbolism and I really enjoyed it. The underground sewer path is a reference to yomi (yellow spring) - the Japanese realm of the dead. There, Kiryu comes across a wrathful Enma (symbolised by Kuze), the king of the underworld. The battle music featured occasional riffs that simulates the wails of ghosts. Kiryu had to overcome his trial to walk on towards the proverbial light. In the aftermath his white suit was stained grey - Kiryu's metaphorical trip to hell and back thus set him on the spiritual journey of eventually donning his iconic grey suit. Thereafter he was to become the Dragon that forever walks the path between black and white. You can tell the developers were heavily invested in this sequence and the results paid off.
Official Gaylord I liked Shibusawa, but he kinda is the least developed of the lieutenants. Kuze and Awano actually had conversations with Kiryu throughout the game y’know.

Shibusawa is a pushover compared to the others, i know it feels bad ass with that music, but in character development, he is the weakest if not in the game, maybe in the series

Quite possibly my favorite dynamic intro in the series. Just the sheer shock of seeing Kuze come after Kiryu on a bike is one thing. Kuze's utterly badass speech comparing boxing and the yakuza life, coupled with a longer version of Pledge of Demon? That made this legendary for me. This scene really cemented Kuze as an awesome character, even if you fight him a lot and he does lose his threat towards endgame.
If you ask me, it's not about how much of a threat he is. It's about how much of an impact he makes in Kiryu's life, and as you play through the game, you see how he really does leave an impact.

I absolutely love that music that comes on during the boss fight sequences. This game has got such an epic soundtrack, so glad i got into Yakuza. The story, characters, gameplay, the world etc everything is top notch.

To me, this fight is one of the most important turning points of the game. From the start of the game up until now, you assume that Kuze was just a greedy bastard who hired the hitman and laid down the trap against Kazama by using Kiryu. The player assumes that he's just a deadbeat trying to cheat his way up the ranks in the family. But then this fight happens and Kuze does his speech, and I think the biggest part about it is how he says "Having Awano or Shibusawa beat me to the captain's spot? Couldn't give a fuck." He just throws out the ENTIRE motive of the empty lot hit away, telling players not only that Kuze wasn't the mastermind behind the scheme, but that the entire story runs significantly deeper than what players thought. I think this is one of the reasons why, despite being a one-off villain, Kuze is many people's favorites throughout the entire series.

dude killed me 4 times, I had no health items just a Heat drink and I was PISSED OFF during the fifth fight. I just powered thru him with Brawler and maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan..... it was a joy defeating him.
I see you're not a fan of the real estate, I grinded it and finished it while never ever making progress since JCF unlocked, unlocked Dragon of Dojima, earned 100 billion through property investments, spent 20 billion less on Beast Upgrades, equipped the herculean gloves, and spammed grab>throw like what Hulk did to Loki on Avengers, I feel bad for what I did to Kuze, but he started it, his fault for jousting and hitting me with a pipe. P.S. Kuze never had the chance to stand up and hit me, and it was the most satisfying shit I've done.
Chapter 6 is where I finally realized this game was gonna be something special. From the badass Kuze fight to the scene with Kiryu and Nishiki in the woods, I knew that I made the right decision to buy this game.

Honestly this is one of my favorite scenes in the entire series. The motorcycle, the speech, the build up of the music as he raises the pipe, and the image of Kiryu blocking Kuze’s furious blow as the ost kicks it into high gear and “Dojima Family Lieutenant Tojo Clan Daisaku Kuze” appears on screen. It really sums up a lot of what Yakuza is as a series to me and why I love it so much. Bombastic action scenes full of drama and emotion that borders on melodramatic but is somehow endlessly awesome not in spite of how ridiculous it can be but BECAUSE of how ridiculous it can be and BECAUSE of how much heart is clearly put into it. I would say that Kuze should’ve been the main antagonist but the fact that he isn’t is actually more profound for his character. Kuze knows that he isn’t really all that special when compared to people like Kiryu or even some of his fellow lieutenants but he’ll still say that just because you have lost doesn’t mean that you are lost. Fuck I love this character
This game was my first Yakuza game. I challenged myself by playing on hard, and nearly got filtered hard by the fight leading up to Kuze the first time and Kuze wasn't easy either it took at least a dozen tries. So when this moment came, it hit all the harder that the guy that nearly made me give up gives a speech to me about not giving up.
I love this character and his speech about the Yakuza life it felt like a threat and a warning to both Kiryu and the Player that Kuze will always come back for more battles.
This was the first Yakuza game I played in the series, every other Yakuza I’ve played has been a disappointment. Yes, people have told me Kiwami 2 , the story sucks balls and they watered downed majima’s story and combat

The opening of this boss fight was so badass that it really got me hyped up. It's a shame that I was massively over levelled from doing the real estate side mission, so I beat Kuze really easily.

I love that neither of them really thought out how the motorcycle bit would go. Kiryu tried to block it, and Kuze immediately wrecked after impact, both ended up eating shit.
How to do a boss fight 101. The absolutely amazing speech while Kiryu is on the ground almost crippled, and then the pipe swinging down as the song kicks in and the title appears makes this boss possibly one of the most memorable for me. I don’t know why I couldn’t get into this game the first time I tried, but now I’m playing through it almost solely to fight Kuze in the sewers. I repeat, I’m playing through a game for a sewer level. That alone should tell you how good Yakuza 0 is on the whole.
I love how Kiryu reaction to Kuze charging at him was to straight up guard instead of dodging. If it was another character like Majima or Akiyama, they would’ve tried dodging it, but no Kiryu tanks it.
This was the moment I was sold on this series. Prior to this, it was hit and miss, but cuz comes roaring in on that motorcycle: this whole thing is just too cool.
I noticed he first blocked with his right arm on the top, and he looks injured by it, so the second time he blocks with his left on top, which has his watch. He likely used his watch to soften the impact
I kinda feel bad for Kuze. He's trying to go up the ranks but the problem is that he's true warrior first and leader second. He's always gonna be a soldier on the front lines and honestly it's right where he belongs. Yakuza 0 is my first game and just got to Sotenbori with Kiryu so I don't know anything how he'll develop but I hope to hell this tough old bastard is still in the games and considering those Dragon of Dojima packs I got at the shrine I'm guessing that's Kiryu's nickname and title and he got back into the family so I hope the two bury this grudge.

After replaying, I grew to like Shibusawa. Knowing from the beginning, that he is biding his time.

When I unlocked dragon of dojima. I got like 1. 3 trillion yen and upgrade dragon of dojima to level 15
I had done the Rush training, so I didn’t even need to heal. I just kept knocking him into the corner idk

I dont think this game could be any better
This was the first Yakuza game I played in the series, every other Yakuza I’ve played has been a disappointment.
Yes, people have told me Kiwami 2 , the story sucks balls and they watered downed majima’s story and combat

@@persival_station7603 Isn't Kiwami 1 and 2 remakes of the games that were first released in 2005? You know when plots were a lot simpler and common then? Haven't played them yet but I imagine they'll be pretty basic and I got no problem with that.

Dynamic Intro
Kuze's role is genuinely as badass as the VA himself.
The Kuze fight is one of the most memorable boss fights in the entire series, the setting, the intro, the music god damn it was perfect
The opening of this boss fight was so badass that it really got me hyped up. It's a shame that I was massively over levelled from doing the real estate side mission, so I beat Kuze really easily.

Yakuza 0 was the best, perfect way to start the series again after only having played Yakuza on ps2.
I like how 3:35 just switches to first person. Kinda makes it feel like Kuze is talking to the player and towering over him.

I love that neither of them really thought out how the motorcycle bit would go. Kiryu tried to block it, and Kuze immediately wrecked after impact, both ended up eating shit.
Kuze really chased him into a sewer on a motorcycle. What a fucking madlad.
I remember playing this the first time thinking kiryu would epicly dodge kuze's attack, but no. Instead he takes it head on like a living god
I got so fucking hype during the intro to this fight.. This rivalry is superb.
This part was so amazing, the music was godlike. Yakuza 0 was truly special. 10/10
To this day this remains one of my favorite fights in the series.
How to do a boss fight 101. The absolutely amazing speech while Kiryu is on the ground almost crippled, and then the pipe swinging down as the song kicks in and the title appears makes this boss possibly one of the most memorable for me. I don’t know why I couldn’t get into this game the first time I tried, but now I’m playing through it almost solely to fight Kuze in the sewers. I repeat, I’m playing through a game for a sewer level. That alone should tell you how good Yakuza 0 is on the whole.
His 4th and 5th fights are a treat as well, so playing the game solely for Kuze is justifiable

Am i the only one who gets goosebumps everytime this fight starts? Sorta like Nishiki or Ryuji fights.
I love how Kiryu reaction to Kuze charging at him was to straight up guard instead of dodging. If it was another character like Majima or Akiyama, they would’ve tried dodging it, but no Kiryu tanks it.
His bones are made of metal or something tougher. Otherwise, I simply don't know, how his hand survived the damage
This was the moment I was sold on this series. Prior to this, it was hit and miss, but cuz comes roaring in on that motorcycle: this whole thing is just too cool.

My preferred tactic would be to use Rush first to whittle down Kuze's health a little, and then use Beast to grab and pummel Kuze relentlessly.

I noticed he first blocked with his right arm on the top, and he looks injured by it, so the second time he blocks with his left on top, which has his watch. He likely used his watch to soften the impact

I kinda feel bad for Kuze. He's trying to go up the ranks but the problem is that he's true warrior first and leader second. He's always gonna be a soldier on the front lines and honestly it's right where he belongs. Yakuza 0 is my first game and just got to Sotenbori with Kiryu so I don't know anything how he'll develop but I hope to hell this tough old bastard is still in the games and considering those Dragon of Dojima packs I got at the shrine I'm guessing that's Kiryu's nickname and title and he got back into the family so I hope the two bury this grudge.
Trust me. You’ll respect Kuze at the end
I defy anyone here to find a better boss battle OST, let alone one that fades in and matches the exact moments of action as perfectly as this.
