Apparently that final scene was actually filmed in total darkness. The actress didn't know what was in there. In fact, most of the actors didn't know what was coming because the director gave the script to them in parts. The body falling shot, in particular, was a surprise to the cast.

As a native Spanish speaker, I'm so sorry for all the people reading subtitles. I mean, curses in Spanish are another level, and there are a lot of them during all the film. The subtitles are very "polite" 😅

Fun fact: Manuela (The actress playing Angela) used to be an actual reporter before she got casted for the film. She also has a bunch of acting credits which gave an element of realism to the whole thing.
Edit: Also, most of the people here aren't actors. All but two of the firefighters (Manu and the other guy who's name I forgot) are real firefighters, including the two ladies Angela encountered.

No, they are not. Manu and Álex are real actors, as well as most of the neighbours in the building (in Rambla Cataluña, the very heart of Barcelona). The thing is they are (or were) not very known, and it goes very well to that feeling of authenticity.

(Haven't seen this movie yet, but my first language is spanish) Intresting translation/subtitle choice at at about 40 seconds in: "..cuidado, cuidado, que te mata!" as the reporter is warning her cameraman about running into a glass door.. the subtitle says "careful! You'll hurt yourself." But what she said literally means "you'll ki11 yourself." Of course it's an exaggeration, but I think the original language (intentionally) strikes a better tone for the genre of the movie.
... I'm probably too sensitive about this stuff (particularly how carelessly international translations can blunt character, tone, and layered storytelling) because I'm a screenwriter myself, lol.

Thanks for the reaction, the comments of the film's pros are quite accurate, one of the favorites in this genre! By the way, I recommend another low-budget, but superbly shot Spanish horror in the genre of the found film of 2014 "La cueva" (English title "In Darkness We Fall")! Creepy and realistic in terms of some unpredictability in the behavior and motivations of the characters, especially in its second half, where the psychological sides of the personality are revealed in critical situations...

So Rec 2 is pretty much the same found footage but its about a few minutes later after the events of the 1st and follows a swat team with a priest then 3rd one actually goes away from the found footage genre and does the norm 3rd person cinema shots and I think is set on the same day of 1 and 2 but its later at night when it starts around the same time the first two take place and the 4th is a continuation of the 1st and 2nd one but not using its found footage genre either but I think its a few months to years later after the event of all three I forgot how long but all are pretty good to watch.

  • @JungleJuliaDP

I *implore* you to change your mind and watch the entire franchise!
I understand why you would think doing so would be a waste of time (with found footage franchises like Paranormal Activity as examples of the genre, I don't fault you for assuming the Rec sequels would also be repetitive), but I can *wholeheartedly assure* they're not.
Rec 2 is a *direct* continuation of the first, but with more cameras (thus, more POVs).
Rec 3 gives much-needed explanations of what caused the infection and how/why certain plot points make sense.
Rec 4 ties into the series of films, while managing to be *completely different film entirely*.
If you watched it as a stand-alone movie, it would *still* be a fun, entertaining watch without context from the previous two films.

  • @TheRemyLeBeau
    @TheRemyLeBeau ปีที่แล้ว +2

Most times a sequel is just a way of money-making where the movie is just plain bad, but [REC] 2 is actually pretty good. Not as good as this one, but still pretty good. The one thing it does really well is to actually take place at the same time as the original movie, intersecting perfectly with the story from the original.
So if you plan to watch a sequel, like you said for Final Destination, give this one a shot as well.

This is what I'm not understanding about this choice of movie? There is an English version with Jennifer Carpenter, a excellent address who did a great job in that version. I don't understand why people not just you are seeking out this version. That is an a foreign language. And we are forced. Have to look at the subtitle when you have a perfectly good version, that's an English. Why is this happening? Just let me know. I don't get it, you would rather look at the subtitles and look at an English version. With an excellent actress in it. It was a great movie that in English.

I'm fully bilingual in spanish & love french & italian films, but subtitled versions only. Nothing kills a movie faster for me than bad acting & that's what you usually get with dubbing. It misses the honest emotion & immediacy from the tone of voice & somehow disconnects you from the visual. That's why when foreign films are presented in Cannes or Sundance festivals they are never dubbed. If you want a more genuine experience, watch foreign films with subtitles. Remakes in english of foreign films are another matter.
