before I get a billion comments, I AM AWARE that there is a different version of this with a different ending. But I was not aware going into it and just went with what Amazon had. It is what it is. The ending doesn't change my opinion of the film whatsoever as I think it absolutely RULES

Juno is legit one of the most split horror movie characters ever. On the one hand she legit caused all of this from sleeping with the husband of her best friend which is why he was distracted during the car ride, to taking them to an unmarked cave. But on the other hand she is an absolute BAMF during this movie, she 100% gave it to those monsters.
She’s badass, true; but she’s still an asshole. No enemies needed for a “friend” like her.

On the one hand, she was a bad person for sleeping with her friend's husband and criminally negligent for taking them to the wrong cave. On the other, she was the only one in the group fighting to save the others, even putting herself at risk multiple times for them when she didn't need to. I also do not think she is at all responsible for the death of Sarah's husband and daughter. For the cheating, yes. But Paul being distracted while driving isn't on her at all, she can't control nor did she want him to let his mind wander thinking of her.
I wouldn’t blame the crash on Juno at all. It’s the husband’s fault because he cheated on his wife AND he wasn’t paying attention. The lives of his wife and child were in his hands, yet he was too busy thinking of Juno? Being a negligent driver and unfaithful were both on him. Of course, Juno was definitely wrong to fool around with her best friend’s husband.
Saw this in the theater when it came out. Most screams I’ve ever heard from an audience. This is a whole lot more terrifying on a big screen in a dark theater. One of my favorites for sure, especially with the original ending. Thanks for the reaction!
I also saw it in theaters, twice I think. This was absolutely in my top 10 theater experiences of my life.
Red is a popular flare color for caving because it’s easier on the eyes. In complete darkness, bright light can flash blind you causing you to have to take time waiting for your eyes to readjust before you can proceed. The human eye is less sensitive to long wavelengths, red and yellow are not as bright as green or blue. They do make flares in every color though, even pure white. Strontium makes red, lithium pink, calcium orange, sodium yellow, barium green, copper blue, and magnesium and antimony white.

The original UK ending that I saw was so much better. They have Sarah hallucinate seeing Juno in the car, and she wakes back up in the cave because she never actually got out. Then she has another hallucination of her daughter, while all the creatures are getting closer.. she has accepted her fate to die in the cave. The US apparently thought that was too dark of an ending for American audiences, which is pretty ridiculous lol. Great reaction I love this movie!
I am American btw.. I just must have been one of the very first initial test audiences in theaters, before the ending was switched.
Because the UK ending is the one I saw in theaters. I went with my dad, and actually got up from my seat when Sarah got stuck in the beginning.. and moved one seat away so that I had an open seat on both sides of me.. and then stretched out my arms and legs because I couldn't stand it, and needed space to breathe 🤣.
I didn't want to get up and leave to go outside, because I was so invested, and really REALLY liked the movie. I just needed more open space around me to continue watching it lol. Luckily it wasn't packed or anything, so I had the option to do it.

Juno's inclusion really elevates this movie from well-shot monster flick to layered exploration of Sarah's 'descent' into madness. Sarah seeing the greyness of Juno's character in pure black and white at the end signified that Sarah had crossed a certain threshold of sanity and morality herself.

I see your comment of knowing there's another ending. Honestly I enjoy both and it's it's matter of bad hopelss ending verses setting up sequel ending.
But THIS is one of the few svary/thriller movies to still spook me everytime I watch it. Climbing in small tunnels? NO
Conflicted about Juno. Sleeping with her friends husband, accidentally knifing a friend only to leave her, yet choosing to go back for Sarah after all that. 😔
The entire trip was masked as a dedication to Sarah but really it was for Juno to assuage her guilt. Juno is an amazing combatant but other than that? She’s a an absolute garbage human being. Great character though. Lol
She’s terrible BUT the Beth thing was an honestly terrible mistake. That was the only time I was like ok that wasn’t her fault
If Juno didn’t sleep with Sarah’s husband, I doubt people would hate her as much. Although recklessly dragging her friends into an unknown and unmapped cave system was insanely irresponsible. I still love Juno as a complex character. She made terrible mistakes that cost lives, but she also refused to leave anyone for dead if she felt they could be saved. Juno wrongfully assumed Beth would bleed out and die quickly, which is why she left her. It was still wrong of her to do leave a dying friend to suffer, but…I get it. Juno was a bad ass.

I prefer the alternate ending where Sarah actually escapes. It’s not like it’s a “happy” ending. Sarah lost everyone she ever loved, and saw things no one will believe. She would have to tell the police her friends all died in a cave-in. Their remains would never be recovered. I’m also not sure Juno deserved her fate…She accidentally killed Beth, and left her (assuming she would bleed out quickly), but she fought like hell to save the rest of her friends.
There's a sequel to this as well 😊

caves are cool, never been in one
I've been in a couple.... turning off our lights put us into the most pitch black setting imaginable... I thought I knew what darkness was like before then, but nope.... It's FREAKY how dark it truly is in a cave
What people don't catch is that these are cavemen that evolved to live on the dark and underground, the drawings on the wall in the cave says it all.

Not blaming you for not knowing there are different versions. I didn't know it myself until I watched some people react to it and people mentioned it in the comments. It's just stupid that someone decided to make a 'happy ending' version for it because the US audience doesn't like bad endings. Why don't people simply take a movie as it is, geez.
It gets worse seeing how the sequel actually continues on the bad ending, making me wonder how confused the people are who have watched the happy ending.

i have to say i didn't see the creatures thing coming at all when i watch it 10 years ago i just though that Sarah was just about to lose it in the cave bc of her trauma and her realizing that her husband was cheating on her with Juno ( i though she knew but pretend she didn't ) so i though she's was after Juno but the others are gonna be in the way so she's gonna kill them too but no..

As long as you know about the last shot. Without it, the title of the movie doesn't really make sense except in the literal sense. I still, for the life of me, can't wrap my head around why they would cut it. It's only the one shot (I think), so you've essentially seen the movie. It's just a really good shot.
The monsters kinda look like those things from Lord Of Rings.
The bad final version is the best
