Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly".
This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonata, concerto or symphony that is using that specific pace.
The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and gave his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself.
The classic music piece is globally famous and there were many different translations into different songs, with different music compositions, mostly operatic, and different lyrics (the band Renaissance, Daniele Licari, Sarah Brightman and Sissel Kyrkjebo for instance).
But the most famous version, by far, is Lara’s version:
it was translated into a pop song for her, she wrote lyrics in italian then co-wrote the english lyrics for it and is the original performer of these 2 versions.
She kept the title Adagio and wrote a story with a double meaning: a woman that is awaiting to find her love / an artist that is awaiting the god of inspiration.
This song has become a classic and has been covered by many : Shirley Bassey (!!), Dimash (Lara is his absolute idol and he covered several of her songs), Floor Jansen, Polina Gagarina, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Julie Anne San Jose, Charice Penpengco, Giulia Falcone, Laura Bretan, Il Divo, Rimar, Vitas, Anastasia Luna, Evgenia Fanfara, , …
They made great covers but none of these match the amazing storytelling performance of Lara, or her ability to use vocal subtleties to be in sync with the music, exposed in her live from the concert From Lara with Love.

Her italian version is also amazing. A famous italian version:

Or you can check her recent excellent renditions:

Lara is still the Queen. She also did Curuso with him and it was terrific. You may want to react to it as well.

This is absolutely insane !!... I get chills every time. Lara is "gigantic" : vocally, we are beyond everything. It comes to us from elsewhere. There is no other explanation. She embodies her art so much that - this is why she is a queen - she also knows how to step aside to leave her place to the person(s) who share the stage and this privileged moment with her. Thank you Lara for being here. You are a gift from heaven....... ❤❤

If this is not beautiful then beauty doesn't exist in this world. Two great musicians, definitely 👏. Thank you for your analysis, take care 👋
P.S.: I guess you already Know, but just in case I just want to say that in the same concert they also performed Caruso.

She still has that quality voice, despite those years, not to mention her colleagues are no longer performing. And her songs are really CLASSIC.....timeless capable of being transferred/carried over to the next generation.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful moment.
I loved the 30-year-old woman for her intensity and her vocal performances.
I loved the 40-year-old woman with her willingness to discover many different musical styles, always with a fabulous voice.
And I love the woman in her 50s who has managed to preserve her voice through hard work and adapting to changes in it, while retaining that little bit of enthusiasm and complicity that makes us melt.
I'll love you forever and ever
    Even if you start rapping🥵
    ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

👏👏👏 Juliet, so glad you got to react to this one - I thought you'd enjoy it. You made some great observations on how she has adapted her voice / style as the years have gone by and thought you made a great point on how she may not be expressing the same 'power' through her voice as she did some 25 years ago, however, she still retains the 'power' in her expression and performance. Guaranteed, anyone in that audience watching live would know they were watching a master of her craft. 🙂

You should more songs from Lara, you give very interesting comments to them
You mentioned Pavarotti, you should react to her version of Caruso from the concert From Lara with Love, mindblowing

So, she sings differently than she did 25 years ago. Go figger. A lot of us are different than we were 25 years ago. But in any event, a professional vocal coach like you can determine some of the subtle differences in the performance, and thank you for pointing them out, because I was too transfixed by Lara and Hauser to notice.

ine @@elizabethhurley1129 I'm a little surprised that you would log ontor the review of an onlne singing coach, and not expect a detailed analysis. Try it, you might like it.

    I like floor jansen.
But in adagio she uses her headvoice instead of chest on the high belt. That is because she could not do it in the same way and power.
But it was a hommage to lara and a compliment.
Not to show she can do it better or the same. I thank floor for that hommage and it was great, but not to compere.
