The music ,enemies and bosses were quite disturbing for a kid as all had some unsettling imagery so yeah ,sometimes I felt like that as well :) was a hard game to beat for a 9 year old
I remember seeing this game in the arcades won the family summer holidays abroad and it definitely left it's mark! I think it was combination of the enemies and themes of magic and ancient Aztec civilizations! I somehow managed to get the Amiga version and loved the game. I remember I completed it but not sure how because it was so tricky.
One of the strangest games ever made. Certainly one of the strangest arcade games. Excellent port, too! The music is extremely reminiscent of classic Commodore 64 classics, but with an Amiga twist. Nicely done. (This game used to kick my ass!)
Amazing conversion, true Amiga power, it was just a matter of programmer's attitude either use that power or not. Almost everything was possible, no excuses.
wow first in 88 i got atari then i think around early 91 comodore 64 and then autum 91 amiga 500, and one of the fist games was toki I loved it it was amazing, the grapfics and all
I loved this game! The Amiga had so many mind blowing platformers! My favourites had to be Titus the Fox and Fire and Ice, but really any Amiga user could create a top 20 list of platformers.
Obviously DKC took a lot of inspiration from this, but as a kid I remember the controls being so frustrating. That floaty jump and the Contra style aiming? Ugh. Sound and graphics are amazing ofc.
Well... i like the genesis version like the others, just the genesis have more levels and new enemies, the mountain, the waterfall and the dark caves levels are interesting and is a good use for bosses, saddly, neptuna is not there but in exchange we have a commander monkey with his sailors in a big submarine who launch torpedos to us and vookimedlo have more action in his first form but the cloacked version of him don't appear, just is first form and final form appears,yes... is different but good in some parts.
im not a big amiga fan.....but this is nice ..never cared for this game either but when i saw the colors and graphics i liked it....music is great as well.......
All I can imagine is that it seems to be a larger/adult version of the red monster we first see around 1:07. As for what THAT is supposed to be... I have no idea.
Without a doubt the version with the superior music.
They really were lazy twats when they made the music for the Sega version weren't they?
One of the best arcade conversions for Amiga. Great job
I love wacky Amiga end credits, it's a lost art in the age of gaming megacorporations :(
This game is ten different shades of crazy and I love it.
Such an awesome game, played it millions of times and the soundtrack is so bloody good!
Go check the Atari ST version shes better really !
@@RAy13014 How does that differ ?
Ah, the ST had a reputation for being a better machine musicwise, so musically.
my childhood right there :D i was scared of this game for some reason
the same here but cant explain what it was :D
The music ,enemies and bosses were quite disturbing for a kid as all had some unsettling imagery so yeah ,sometimes I felt like that as well :) was a hard game to beat for a 9 year old
Same here - It was really difficult as a kid as well, so many playthroughs and I never completed it

i was 5 years old, enjoyed this game as well
Wow. This was in my top 5 Amiga games, easily.
I loved playing it so much! Still looks and sounds awesome
Probably one of the very best game on the Amiga
One of the strangest games ever made. Certainly one of the strangest arcade games. Excellent port, too! The music is extremely reminiscent of classic Commodore 64 classics, but with an Amiga twist. Nicely done. (This game used to kick my ass!)
port means ?
One of the better Amiga conversions of the arcade game in question.
One of my favourite games on the Amiga.
The only thing I remember about this game is the 'nip-slip' at the very start.
The player obviously knows the levels well!
Very short game though.
wizard turned the dude into a "lowly ape"... that spits fireballs. bad call by you wizard dude
...of course at the end of the video, the messege was for previous internet, but it was a good idea to give a final programers messege.
Amazing conversion, true Amiga power, it was just a matter of programmer's attitude either use that power or not. Almost everything was possible, no excuses.
First game I played on my a600 comin from a spectrum 128k+2. Was amazing
This version has great music and various different colors for the enemies, it's my favorite one.
I sure remember this one. The colors were so very vivid on the old CRT TV, or at least my memory tells me so.
No, it's true. It blew my mind too :)
Yes, remember this game well, even the music once heard it again.
wow first in 88 i got atari then i think around early 91 comodore 64 and then autum 91 amiga 500, and one of the fist games was toki I loved it it was amazing, the grapfics and all
This was my 1st amiga game. Moja pierwsza gra na Amigę.
This game was so weird even back then
Mega awesome and very cool is this video game! Only one disquette! Na jednej dyskietce to było!
I used to play with this game!!! I love it. I managed to finish it several times.
I loved this game! The Amiga had so many mind blowing platformers! My favourites had to be Titus the Fox and Fire and Ice, but really any Amiga user could create a top 20 list of platformers.
This game runs much better on Amiga than the Atari ST port; much smoother and Toki moves a lot faster. Good music too!
Other way around. The ST version is faster.
I was 16 when this came out and I bought Toki with my first wage packet. I loved the Arcade version and the Amiga version was awesome too.
The Amiga port has better music than the Arcade original. Almost every level has a different theme. The second part of Lv 6 is particularly good.
Ah Ocean presents : Toki - Amiga 500 :D
Souvenirs souvenirs !
maintenant aussi sur PS4 :)
Ah, the Ocean logo. Cool. Would like a t-shirt with it if there is such.
The music was actually better on the Amiga port compared to the arcade!
Strange story and good game
Obviously DKC took a lot of inspiration from this, but as a kid I remember the controls being so frustrating. That floaty jump and the Contra style aiming? Ugh.
Sound and graphics are amazing ofc.
Toki's perilious journey to regain his manhood.
That would've been a glorious title! XD
One of the best. Thanks.
La version hogareña mas fiel al arcade
it's the first game i've beaten, i was 5 years old. good times :')
🤭
Had this on the Amiga 500 when I was 5. Could never get past the first level. I never even saw that boss. I was really bad at games...
Toki looks like Frankenstein´s Monster in the end xD
OOOOooOOoooooooooooo, yes. This game actually goes waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back. Trust me.
Quanto c’ho giocato!!
best music and ending ever
this was a fantastic port. Hated the Genesis version!
and on switch ?
@@MilaNista9999 the switch port was made by the ones that made the Amiga version.

I love this game.
Game of my childhood. I couldn't pass to last episode when I was kid. Years later I was able to. By the way last boss was easy to beat.
Bosses were easy to beat as long as you realised you were safe when at the far left and made use of that.
Interesting to see what games were like on the amiga. Only had mega drive then and I was lucky to have that.
One of best ports for Amiga, but still not 100% faithful.
im not a big amiga fan.....but this is nice ..never cared for this game either but when i saw the colors and graphics i liked it....music is great as well.......
more game conversions like this...the amiga would have fared much better
@@miked4377 you prefer the SNES and mega drive for 16 bit gaming? Don't blame you. I own all three.
@@RMoocher Why ?
@@miked4377 I remember wanting games such as Sonic and Mario to be made available on Amiga and wondering why they wern't.
@@johnharvey4448 why? Because games in general on Amiga aren't as good as the consoles, and I'm not just taking about Mario and sonic.
I never finish the last stage, my game was always 'beugue', don't know how to say in english lol
I love your your channel, miss those all games ^^
i play it right now on PS4 ^^
great soundtrack!
Classic.
j'adore ce jeu
what the hell is the boss of stage 3 ?!
All I can imagine is that it seems to be a larger/adult version of the red monster we first see around 1:07. As for what THAT is supposed to be... I have no idea.
Damn this version was WAY easier than the NES version.
Really, the game only contains six levels and takes about 20 minutes to finish?
The better port is this, bnext is the NES and last the genesis version
2:40 DA FU..........
8:40 just as well :D
You Bashtar...!
Toki Didn't Save his girlfriend
