    Happy for you!! I've had specific lineages tested and received results, but haven't done the admixture test done yet. I will get it done,....Genetics is interesting!!! According to geneticists Africans are said to have the oldest most complex genetic make ups in the world,....and all other ethnic groups according to them,....appear to be mere recent subsets of what the African consist of. This is why, it's kind of arbitrary if someone would say, they can notice your Asian features, being the fact, non mixed Ghanaians and Nigerians look identical to you without Asian admixture. You remind me of the Akan and Ga people in Ghana, and particularly the Yoruba and Igbo in Nigeria. When I had my direct maternal lineage tested it went back to the Yoruba in Nigeria, and my direct paternal line went back to the Akan(Ashanti) in Ghana. I'm excited about taking the admixture test soon!

    • @Windsingerful
      @Windsingerful 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      OrientalKings - how did you test your matrilineal and patrilineal lines to identify the tribal groups in Africa?

    • @GuardianoftheGoldenStool
      @GuardianoftheGoldenStool 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Windsingerful The company African Ancestry (africanancestry.com) tests direct maternal lineages and paternal lineages. They have the largest database of African dna samples in the world right now. They can tell you where that lineage originates from in Africa(the country) and the tribal group it is associated with. What I mean, by the fact they test direct lineages, these are those that are completely male (forefathers) or completely female(foremothers). For example, your mother, her mother, her mother,...is your direct maternal line, and your father, his father, and so on is your direct paternal line. There are of course several other direct lines in your family for example, your mother's father's lineage, and the males that preceded him, etcetera. You, a male will have your y dna tested for your direct paternal lineage, and your mitochondrial dna tested for your maternal lineage. The only thing is if you have a sister, she could not have her dna tested to find out about her direct paternal lineage because she doesn't have y chromosome dna (being female), so you as a male would have to do the testing. Males and females carry their mother's mitochondrial dna though. It's just a simple q-tip swab process using the saliva in your mouth.

    • @Windsingerful
      @Windsingerful 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, I'm a little bit suspect with this one. I've seen a few people who used it report that they were 100% a particular tribe....which realistically is not likely, considering the reality of slavery and how our ancestors were dragged from all parts of west Africa and thrown together. Well... one step at a time. I might give it a whirl down the line at one point. Thank you for sharing!

    • @GuardianoftheGoldenStool
      @GuardianoftheGoldenStool 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Windsingerful Lol!!!.....They're not 100 per cent that tribe. The average person doesn't know much about science or scientific jargon,....so when they get the results from African Ancestry(the company)they don't know how to read them. The report often states their dna sequence is 100 per cent match for that ethnic group or 98 per cent, whatever. That has to do with the sequence similarity of their dna and that tribe, on either their (direct) maternal lineage or (direct) paternal lineage. Direct lineages are never representative of everything in your dna,...since they are selectively lineages you tests based only solely a lineage of males(forefathers) or females(foremothers). I explained in detail in a previous message I sent you.

    First of all, congratulations on your DNA results! I'm glad you enjoyed and made this video. Secondly, you made a comment about someone who "looked like a mixed person". I just wanted to give you some friendly information. Your genetics make up all of you so it's easy for some people to think that if they are mixed, it will show in their looks but remember that your DNA also affects your personality. It is an interesting phenomenon that many people who are mixed show it by comparing their attitudes, outlooks or even appetites as opposed to looks. For example, your being mixed Asian might show more in a smaller body frame, it could show more in a bigger appetite for white rice or it could even show more with your memorization skills. So for example, someone can look jet black obviously African but still be half white because maybe the half black is in their looks and their half white is in their personality, if that makes more sense? I hope that helps you understand your genetic mixture better!By the way, as far as looking Nigerian, I don't mean to veer too far from what you originally asked but just wanted to let you know that Nigerians (from Nigeria) would say you look American or Westernized. You look like you come from a mixed culture background. As far as whether or not you look part Nigerian, I cannot say.

    • @laylatoughlovestepford2553
      @laylatoughlovestepford2553 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      By the way, no doubt the holidays were a part of it but another reason why your test took a bit longer to receive results is because of how mixed you are (making the process take a bit longer). Same thing happened to me, my test took about a month or maybe even a little longer. (I'm 51% European, 23% Native American, 15% Asian, 6% Pacific Islander & 5% African.)

      You definitely do not look like someone who is from Sudan or Somalia.

    • @Virgo39204
      @Virgo39204 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Quinn I'm not claiming that I look like people from that area. I work with an older Sudanese lady and she said that I favor people in Sudan. I agree, that I do not look like the Sudanese(or Somalis, which I don't think I look like at all) that are usually advertised, but Sudan is very diversed. I received my results and from ancestry and it says I'm 88% African, 7% European, and 3% Middle Eastern. The other 2% were trace regions in the Americas. Cameroon had the highest percentage followed by Benin/Togo. When I uploaded my DNA to GEDmatch and Family Tree DNA, my results were pretty much the same, except both sites showed that I had a significant amount of DNA from Sudan and Ethiopia.

    • @134214567893
      @134214567893 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Erica Handy Nice results. North Sudan has a lot of mixed people (looks like a mixture of Arab and black), and the South has a lot of people who are very dark(literally the color of black) in complexion, you don't really fit in any of those categories, I don't see why people say you look like them, I really don't see it. I can see you passing off as an Ethiopian or a Nigerian, but not a Sudanese. Btw I never said you claimed that you looked like the people from the area, js you don't like them to me. Anyways, Africa is a very diverse continent with beautiful people who come in different shapes, sizes, hair textures, and colors.

    My family is quite a mixture so I decided to take 23 and me. The results are 48% Ghana, 38% Cherokee Nation, 6% Iberian Peninsula and 5% Germany. I was surprised that all of my African Heritage came from one place. Both of my biological parents were tested and these are my results from both parents. From what I understand, my great, great, great, great grandparents all came from Ghana. They took almost the whole tribe and brought them here. My first cousins are almost all from Ghana or atleast a large percentage. I am proud. My family, are all apart of the Cherokee Nation in Virginia since birth. It is amazing.

It would be better if the results were done based on ethnic groups because during the Scramble (by the Colonialists) for Africa, ethnic groups were routinely split between numerous countries. Some people also get a lot of Togo/Benin in their results. These are the same people as well. Sometimes you could literally have cousins from 2 different countries. Look at the map of Africa, you are bound to see a lot of this happening if the countries are neighboring countries

      Is it possible for Filipino's to have some of that ancestry in them? Anyway I don't think these tests are random because after the latest update they specified that the 14% East Asian came from the Philippines which was the only ethnicity I knew for sure besides West Africa. They put Polynesian in the high confidence category along with Ghana, Nigeria, and East Asia so they must have been able to trace it directly. Meanwhile all of my European ancestry was placed in the low confidence category. It makes sense because I don't know of any full blooded European ancestors so that DNA most likely came from waaaaay back in the 1700's.

    Dont know you family’s history but you should look up the manila men (early filipino settlers) of Louisiana. They were really early arrivals to the state and mixed with African American people in the region. A lot of people from the state have filipino ancestry but don’t know it because they integrated so long ago into other groups.
