Hi Everyone, We hope you enjoyed our video! Which Travel Trailer with a Murphy Bed did you like? Please say hello by leaving a comment below! Also, please feel free to ask any questions or just tell us about yourselves. We want to get to know you and share our RV experiences.
Right now I have a T@B Outback. I am feeling a little more cramped as I get older..Can't do a lot of things I used to...lol. I liked the Grand Design Imagine XLS17MKE. It wasn't too awfully big, and for me and my dogs, is good and I love the Murphy bed. It allows for so much more room. A Slide out would be cool. I worry about the weight for towing capacity. Other than that, it was pretty cool.
Luv the large and long kitchen.... perfect storage and travel home for one or two people and the dinette slider couch is cool 😎 on the SLX 17 MKE, Booyah!!!
Hi Joan! Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks again for watching our videos! We hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Mike and Susan
Hey from Maryland! We are so grateful for your videos. We've got buying something on our long-term list (2-3 yrs.) and watching your videos keeps that dream alive. Your clarity and enthusiasm is helping us become more confident when the time comes! (it's also a great family friendly distraction during covid limited times).
Hello RW and fellow Marylander! That is awesome! Glad you enjoy our videos!!!! By the way, we started a Facebook group called RV Camping for Newbies. Hope you will check it out and join if you are interested! facebook.com/groups/RVCampingforNewbies/ Thanks for watching and commenting! Mike and Susan
I bought a Keystone Passport 2021 219bh early last spring that has a Murphy bed and lots of storage space, mainly drawers which make more sense below counter top level. I added a Maxx fan in the bathroom to move more air on dry days when the AC isn't needed. Great video, you two!

@@RVBlogger Sorry for the late reply... Correction on the model number of my Keystone Passport - it's a 219bh. Yes, thank you, I did subscribe to your channel and will to your magazine! Looking forward to this camping season!
We bought the grand design 21bhe in October 2020 and are a family of 4 with 2 young kids and a Dobie. We absolutely love this unit and would recommend it to anyone. It checked all our boxes by having a ton of amenities that other larger units had. Without the Murphy bed you'd have to buy a 30' + trailer to find a dinette, couch and master bedroom. So for our family this was the best option I could find. I read a couple other comments talking about humidity and I always bring an electric space heater in the cooler months go help "dry" out the air instead of using the propane furnace. I don't see this being just a grand design 21bhe problem. Great reviews as usual and thanks for all the awesome content!
Hi Stephen, Thanks for sharing your experience with the GD 21BHE! Great insights and I love the tip about how to reduce the humidity in your rig... Thanks for watching, commenting and for your awesome content! Mike and Susan

@@RVBlogger Hi Mike, thanks for the reply. You guys put so much time and effort into all your videos. I will make sure to hit subscribe, Like and all notifications😊. Btw..really liked your vids on the fiberglass units. Unfortunately after many years of American built RV’s and my last nightmare with a Jayco product I crossed the border to Canada and went with a non-massed produced product.
@@RVBlogger We went with Prolite (Plus S )out of Quebec. We went over to the factory and did a comprehensive tour. The one piece fiberglass roof and the low production of 9 to 15 units a week was important to me. Having a relationship with the manufacturer and the ability to do all warranty and maintenance at their facility is key and will remain that way with our next unit. I am however a big advocate of RVIA. I believe everyone one who purchases new or used should include them somewhere in the purchase process. It’s a small price to pay for piece of mind.

My fave is the "Grand Design Imagine XLS 21BHE". This is the better option for my family with 2 littles at home. We all would kind of get our own rooms in a sense by the separate sleeping spaces. Thank you!

Definitely not for long term use and for family with small children, not for old peole with arthritis. We thought we would have our own space with the bunks, but they are unusable or grossly impractical for adults. The table bed pillows move around and is quite short. We had go get new mattresses for all, but really could not safely navigate the bunks. The bunks are listed as full bed suze, but two tries, and they smaller. Still do not know how we can cut them to fit. The new matresses are very nice. The pull cables on the tanks froze up and had to be replaced. The control board for the hot water tank had to replaced and the propane tubing leaked for a year until it got so bad you could see it...then they fixed it. The table and benches are awkward and you must revelcro them or they slide off after a few minutes. Very difficult for anyone with serious arthritis to sit. Replace the foam with firmer pieces. Recaulk the sink and cupboard windows. The sink leaks to cupboard below and the cupbord windows, in the bathroom, too, fall out and are not covered if the fall out and break! I caught ours as it fell on our first time out. The rest were ready to fall, but i caulked them. We had a huge gap at the headboard of the murphy that let in very cold air. They did fix that, too. The video comes and goes. We bought a new player that does it all. But there was no place to put it, so had to buy a TALL skinny dresser to put just off the counter and the bed just fits when opened. I have never gotten the oven to work more than once, but it is too small anyhow. The microwave and burners work great. The toilet and faucets works fine, but you cannot help getting water all over, just plan for it.. The shower door, be careful or you can break that door. If it snaps, it will scare you to death, but once you get used to it, it is fine, but ours has no drain holes, so be sure to wipe and rewipe it very dry. It is ok for us. We use the bunks for storage, but leave the curtains open for good air flow. The walls get wet in cold weather which gets bedding wet. But we could not use it much for all the repairs the first 2 years. Now we hope to sell it and get something more practical. Others love them and especially the one with the slide. The bunks are more accessible i guess. But, i won't get that type of bunk set up again. I am praying there is no mold in the bunks. I cannot get up in them to check. I use rid air even jn the pass through...at least 5. You want mine?
@@TheLakingc I've lived in a 31 ft motorhome with two kids and it worked out perfectly for us. Granted they had their own room. The guy asked which one we liked the most in this TH-cam video? So out of the ones listed this one's the better option in my opinion, doesn't mean it will be for you or even one we anticipate in buying. Regardless of what I do for my family, rv, short bus, ect. it will be the better option once we decide what we want to do. Sorry you went through that and hope the best for you!
@@familyplaz8032 it was just this one. I had never used a trailer before, so i did not know what to look for. I never thought we could not actually use the bunks! Why would they make them so you could not use them? Because it was for small kids! And it is a crap shoot on equipment. They take what they get, and then, we get it. Some is great, some, not so much. But watching others, on line, with Grand designs, it has been good with solitudes, mostly. Cabinet stain paint is typically lousy, but maybe not for solitudes. Other things are better quality, too. I will look at some smaller ones without bunks again, because i like the flexibility. But those Fifth wheels with good room division are sure lovely, aren't they? Very tempting. It's just that i wanted a separate room for my son for his very own space, but i think we can make a space and maybe the pullout couches will be ok. We don't need 2 couches! I could make the second couch space just for his space to be creative. Because of covid and everyone being sold out here, we have never even seen anything else up close only YTs. I also have to decide what full-time, will mean to us. Not sure i want to wake up somewhere different every 2 weeks. I know for sure my son does not. He likes everything predictable. RV life is not. But trying to find a place to live where i want to live now at my age could be impossible. Where rents were $4-600/month, it is now $2000, which is more than our income can accommodate! So, the next best is a nice RV we can have fun with, and it is earthquake proof, right? Love that idea. Thanks for writing. Sorry if i sounded like a spoiled sport. Sometimes i guess i am that way. God knows i don't want to be. Last month we got our water working again after 2 years, so we were thrilled! Today we got hot water again. Flooding caused by an ice jam destroyed our whole system, and it has been impossible to find someone to fix it until now. So, when the trailer worked, it was soooo nice! So, i do know gratitude, too. The Lord always finds work arounds. Patience and faithfulness is what it takes. It is worth it. Blessings😄
Grand Design XLS-17MKE was my favorite of the ones shown because of the inclined kitchen, dining area seating and of course the Murphy Bed setup lends itself to a lot more room in the trailer overall...Great Video...Thanks for the Great Camera work!!!....When does Your wife talk??....if ever...lol..😉🙃🙃🤠🥳🥸🤯😎😎

I have a big question. First of all I've never own a RV trailer, second I'm possibly thinking of actually living in one for a while and living in different parts of the South until I find the right fit! My big question is this I love the Murphy bed setup. I don't love bunk beds, but how many people make changes? I me do you think it's possible to remove the bunks and use that area as a dedicated office?

Thanks for making this video and offer an easy bullet point comparison between different bunk bed trailers. I am new in the market, looking for a solution to sleep 3 people, and have a trailer with efficient space usage. Cannot really tell which of the presented suits best for us, likely none of the presented models. Still, it gave a lot of inspiration about details to look at. The kitchen must be functional and have some surface space to work with, the bathroom must be spacious or have a sophisticated design. Space and light, enough windows etc are important as long as you want more than a submarine layout. And we deal with some physical challenges, with me as a big guy, 6.5 tall. It would be great if you could mention the dimensions of the beds as well. Guess I need to watch a lot more for a decision.
Hi KaiM CA, Thanks for the feedback. You will notice I measure bed size and ceiling heights with a tape measure in our more recent videos so you taller guys can get a better feel for the size. They each had features I loved. My top 2 were the second Grand Design (with the long counter run) and the Winnebago. Like you, I like the idea of having a couch/bed doing double duty. Sadly, all of them are too heavy to be towed by my SUV, as it only has a 3500 lb towing capacity. 😥

I really like your simple, concise, tour videos. I am glad I bought our little trailer before seeing this video or I would have been trying to convince my wife to spend twice as much. These are all really nice compact trailers, but dang they are expensive for only being 17-21 feet.
Hi Brian, Sounds like you found a good deal. All the smaller less expensive campers are SOLD. So we just reviewed what we found at different dealers and the MD RV Show. Thanks again for watching our videos! Mike
@@RVBlogger the Coleman 17b has been one of the hottest selling trailers of 2020. They generally sit on a dealer lot for less than a week before they are sold. In some areas people are having to pay for them before they are even built. It is definitely an entry level quality trailer with pretty much most basic features ever, but it is lowest priced bunkbed trailer available.

We do not take RV price into consideration when we shoot our tour videos. We look more at floor plan categories and not duplicating content. At the time of recording we are not always aware of the cost. We are considered making a video based on MSRP but unfortunately that cost can change frequently based on the market. Thank you for watching our RV tour video and commenting!
@RVBlogger, new to your channel. Quick question, why do none of the bathrooms have a curved shower rod? It would be so beneficial in a little shower and not rally interfere anywhere else?

I have watched quite a few of your videos which have great info especially the weight and length and the bathroom. It would be great to know whether the microwave is actually a convection oven and to be able to actually see the sink size and depth. I liked the Sonic Lite SL150VRB , Jayco Feather X17Z, Jayco and Jay Feather 16XRB. Thank you for the tours!
Hi Dorothy, Great suggestion and we have had the same suggestion from others too se in future videos we will be covering the microwave type. Thanks for watching and commenting! Mike and Susan
I like the G.D. 17 with the huge counter top and updated cabinets. I really like the Winn. It's one of the best built trailers on the market with a long history of a quality build. It also has the torsion axles which is huge. BUT they all suffer from the same PROBLEM: split mattresses. One of the very first thing that gets switched out on most RV's is the mattress. You can't go to your local mattress store to buy one that"s going to fit. HUGE problem!
Why is buying an RV Mattress a HUGE problem? There are plenty of RV mattress companies out there like Tochta mattress for example. No problemo! Thanks for watching and commenting! Mike and Susan
@@RVBlogger Yes but they are custom mattresses that you pay a premium for. They're still a split mattress which will never be as good as a quality mattress. I have spinal stenosis, scoliosis, 1 herniated, 1 ruptured disc. I'm not alone, many people have bad backs and need a regular construction, quality mattress. So it is a big deal for most. Like I said earlier the mattress is usually the first thing to get switched out. Winnebago in previous years used a full size mattress but they changed their Murphy bed construction. Something else you didn't cover was the loss of pass through space because of the Murphy beds.
Murphy bed looks nice but I don’t like the top of the bed when it is folded up . It needs to be finished of at the top so you don’t see the sheets . Needs to have something to finish that off to look better like some of the others !
No bunk bed wanted the other Murphy beds look finished off better. Lather table that seats at least 6 people ! What would the length the couch that seat 6 . How is the length to sleep on it . Thank

And who wants a sofa with no armrests! So tired of seeing that. I’m looking for another small travel trailer for my son and there are certain things I won’t compromise on. They should build them like the Rockwood Minilite with a bedroom door that closes, larger frig, kitchen counter space, etc!

@@RVBlogger Not the bed, but the way space is misused left and right of the sofa. A full(er) width sofa, capable of lounging length-wise on, would be desirable. A loveseat size sofa isn't terribly enticing. Seems the wing tables for the sofa become supports for the Murphy, but some other support needs to be designed to allow the sofa to grow.

Btw..really liked your vids on the fiberglass units. Unfortunately after many years of American built RV’s and my last nightmare with a Jayco product I crossed the border to Canada and went with a non-massed produced product.
@@ourvlife1 Hi Robert,
I don't blame you for that at all. What did you end up buying?
@@RVBlogger
We went with Prolite (Plus S )out of Quebec.
The 2nd trailer is more in the weight class for my 2012 Colorado. It was pretty nice too

Blessings😄
@@TheLakingc Amen. God always has a plan.❤🙏

@@RVBlogger the Coleman 17b has been one of the hottest selling trailers of 2020. They generally sit on a dealer lot for less than a week before they are sold. @@RVBlogger Hi Mike, Well we picked it up from the dealer and parked it in our driveway...we are in CT, so we are waiting until spring for our first adventure! Merry Christmas to you and Susan as well. We really enjoy your blog and Facebook page, has really helped us Newbies!
@@dianaburd6168 what do you tow it with?
@@Cutlass_Rudd Hi. We have a 2015 Dodge Ram Bighorn
I love and want a small travel trailer with a Murphy bed. My biggest problem is money. I really want a camper.
Hi Linda,
We always recommend buying used rather than new. RVs and trailers depreciate fast so you can get a used camper at a better price.
Hope that helps!

How about small travel trailers with slide outs?
Hi Billy,
That is a great title for a YouTUbe video and so is small trailers with no slideouts. Stay tuned! We will be making these videos in the not to distant future!

Would love to see the 17MKE using the same layout as the Winnebago. I love the 17MKE, but seeing that bit of dead space next to the fridge bothers me.
Hi C S,
How could you use the dead space to your advantage though?

Do they make any forest rivers without bunks?
Edit: this is an excellent salesman, he keeps said “we like” and “we love”. Excellent relating to the customers
Hi Dani,
I used to be in sales so thanks!!!! Now we just write blog articles and make TH-cam Videos! Dream job!!!!
Forest River does make units without bunks...here's the link to their site and you can check out all of their floor plans! They own a ton of brands so it might take a while to review them all!

Hi James,
We own a 2008 Gulf Stream Conquest Class C RV. We bought it used for a very low price with under 9,000 miles on it!

How much?
Hi Neil,
We list the MSRP at the beginning of each segment when we into the model.

GET READY! We are launching our new digital/video magazine called RV Camping Magazine on June 1st! Stay tuned for our TH-cam Video all about it!
Hi Dorothy,
Great suggestion and we have had the same suggestion from others too se in future videos we will be covering the microwave type.

The nest one looks more finished off. Like the other dinner that seat more with noe bunks beds !
No bunk bed wanted the other Murphy beds look finished off better. Lather table that seats at least 6 people ! What would the length the couch that seat 6 . How is the length to sleep on it . Thank

It does make them versatile, but I prefer a bedroom that has a wall/door that closes...over bunks any day.
Hi Amy,
Thats cool. But in a smaller size camper you might not be able to find that. The purpose of a Murphy bed is to maximize space in a certain area of a camper...

NOT small Rsv’s!!!
25’ and 4000lbs are not small

He keeps explaining the virtues of the Murphy bed. Salesmen are always saying nice this nice that. “Nice” or “like”, as words, don’t convey a lot of meaning. No offense. Nice tour.
Hi Stephen,
It's He - Mike!
I am not a salesman and we don't get paid by any manufacturers or dealerships to make our videos.

And who wants a sofa with no armrests! So tired of seeing that. I’m looking for another small travel trailer for my son and there are certain things I won’t compromise on. They should build them like the Rockwood Minilite with a bedroom door that closes, larger frig, kitchen counter space, etc!
Hi Amy,
I don't mind a sofa in an RV with no arm rests...no biggie at all...but everyone is different!

Why do people like these murphy beds ? I want a bed that is ready at all times, I can only see problems with all the mechanicals involved, things tend to fall apart over time...

We certainly appreciate your view of things even though we don't always agree.

@@RVBlogger Open my mind and heart ? Really ? I'm just asking why people like murphy beds. Biggest problem with them is you can't upgrade the mattress, the thing won't close up...
Couldn't disagree more! I was just thinking, 'why don't they ALL have murphy beds?! They save so much space!'
None of these are executed well. They're all the same. A 2 seat sofa is limited. Somebody come up with a wider sofa setup.
Hi RayDog,
Are you saying you want a king size Murphy Bed set up? That would be a wider bed and I agree it would be cool to see some larger Murphys...

@@TheRayDog I gotcha,
Yeah the end tables are very skinny...I see what you mean. Good call!
