Save your money people, then pay to get your cdl at a school. Then look for companies that hire rookie drivers. Schneider, Swift, etc. Get a year or two under your belt, then get with a company that will pay you better.
This was a great video and good insight on what to possibly expect when going to Prime. I'm currently in the process of either going to Prime or another CDL school and some of the things I was curious about you mentioned.
Yeah I went to Pittston for my training came from Newark New Jersey. Had a good hotel room to myself after my roommate left early cause he had his cdl already but great guy. I mean everything went better then I expected and fast about 3 week now I’m back home for a bit picking up my cdl.
Any advice for me, I just got my class A permit, and looking for a company to go with to get my CDL. I was looking at knight, but they don’t allow their trucks to go home with you during home time. So next up I was looking at Pam and Prime. Is prime is ok company, I see they train as in your trainer could be sleeping and the trainee driving is that true? Also can you take the truck him during home time.
@bobbyfallis2897 If finding a place to park your rig is going to be a problem when you're on home time, I would say go with knight. Otherwise, prime is not a bad place to start. Don't lease with any company until you have six months of OTR Solo experience. There's a huge learning curve when you are solo, and the last thing you want to do is put your finances behind the 8ball trying to figure out how to operate your new business. Good luck!
@bobbyfallis2897 Yes, it is true that you share a truck with a trainer at Prime while training, but that's how it works at pretty much all trucking companies when you first start out.
Dude r u owner opp now or atill withh or solo do they make u drive for owner opp u hrd u not a company driver but a owner opp driver meaning u obly drive for a owner o0p
Yes you do get paid for training miles. its a flat rate I believe its like 900 a week or something like that. check with your recruiter to make sure. Good luck!
I am looking into getting into the trucking industry and currently doing a lot of research on companies. I just added prime to the list I made of trucking companies for new grads and came across your channel just now. I like the honest video. Thank you for the information. I’m glad your wife is well. I’ll be praying for you and your family.

What company would you recommend.

Prime charges drivers to do laundry in their terminals.......lol. What a racket! Remind me never to work for Prime!
What school do you recommend? I’m about to start somewhere
Depends where you live. Go online, look for an established school in your area. They may let you pay installments.
@ I’m in Texas.
I’m curious about the pay for a 1st year driver there? Also, are you getting paid for the training miles?
