I think it’s great to see and hear humbleness from Mike Tyson. Actually, to hear both of them speak with a grateful attitude. It speaks volumes about their character in the present. They both achieved greatness in boxing, to which I’m a fan, and very pleased to hear them talk about the real skinny years later.
When legends meet, this time just to talk and have fun. Love both these guys, what they did for boxing and the legacies they left inscribed in our memories and in the record books. True boxing fans will still be talking about them in another 20+ years. Proud to have watched them both rise from early pro careers to the amazing champions they each became.
A lot of RESPECT Mike had for Larry here! I think Larry was one of the best in keeping his MONEY! He also was in the all~time Top 10 in my book! Bless Tyson for he's life turnaround! He's a good guy too!

As someone that has practiced many forms of the martial arts all my life I believe when we're young we feel like we're invincible and unstoppable but as we get older and learn more in life and realize that one day we will all meet the same faith in death I believe this is what humbles many fighters.
I like Tyson's answer to "Who was the greatest". Instead of saying Ali automatically like most dopes would, he gives respect to ALL the great fighters by saying "Everybody was the greatest in their time". We have no idea what Marciano would do vs. Ali, or for that matter, what a prime Tyson would do vs. Ali. Or a prime Tyson vs. Marciano. We only know those fighters were the best in THEIR time. Anything beyond that is pure SPECULATION. Tyson is smart enough to know this. Another reason to love Iron Mike!

I think Larry began to gain perspective as he got older. He realized that what he accomplished could not be taken away. Holmes became a solid businessman and did not lose his money. The first time I seen Mike he was sitting a couple of rows in front of me and my wife at the Luther Vandross ( RIP) concert Madison Square Garden probably 1989... he was sitting between two of his friends and we were the only ones in that section I still regret till today that I didn't ask him for his autograph! You sure have come along way from the night of the concert you've been through it all and have come out shining!God bless! 🙏🏼🤜🏼

I agree. I always liked Larry Holmes and felt bad that he never received the credit he deserved for being a very good champion for so long. He was always generous with his fans. I met him once and he thanked me again and again for my complements to him, and he joked a little about his fight with Ali costing him a ton of fans, even though it wasn't his fault. He's a very nice guy. Glad that he didn't seem to suffer much long term injuries from his boxing career. Tyson has grown on me over the years. I didn't like him from his arrest though his early comeback, when he bit Holyfield and all that nonsense, but I can forgive all that. There is a certain honest and genuine quality I've come to like about him, even when he's vulnerable. His show about the pigeons was interesting. I wish he'd of been able to get his shit together and be the best during the last 90s, even if it were just for a year or two.

Tyson is like a living encyclopaedia of boxing history, one of those things that made him such a great fighter when everything was going right for him, he understood how to excite the crowd, beat fighters mentally, hype up fights, unfortunately he didn't know that much about life and the dangers of being around the wrong people back then.

I agree, Tyson is the same age as myself, when he won the crown at 20 he made me think I could make my own dreams come true. To me he's an icon. When Kevin his initial trainer left, his subsequent trainers didn't give him the support. Tyson didn't have professional family around him. He probably thought he could do it on his own, like all of us.
Also Tyson was 37-0 and undefeated for the 1st 5 years of his pro career having 9 successful WBC defences, more than Rocky had and as many fights as Frazier had in his whole career. Just having 37 fights in 5 years is incredible even if some of the fights seemed easy the training certainly wouldn't have been and having that many fights at only 23 shows he was an immense athlete. If he couldn't beat any of the greats at his best they would have certainly been great battles.

There may have been some bad blood when they were younger but it's good to see the two champions sitting and talking. I was never a big Larry Holmes fan mainly because I loved Muhammad Ali, but Larry had a great career. No one was beating the Mike Tyson of the mid to late 80's. I wish Mike had stayed with Kevin Rooney. I still say that the Mike Tyson in the 80's trained by Rooney would have beaten Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield. As for Buster Douglas, he could have just stayed in hotel room. It would have been over that fast.
It's very scientific and thats how damato created the style and tyson's muscle fiber twitching and speed was perfect to arouse that ideological style. HAd damato been alive ,he would have clearly created the best pound for pounder in history because he molded tyson to be 1 mile wide AND 1 mile deep.The problem was that his death along with jacobs and don king taking over with robin givens caused tyson to keep the mile wide but only 1 inch deep,pretty much sums it up in a nutshell.
Fringes of the top 5, like him or hate him no one unbiased can say Lewis wasn't a legend. Retired champion at 36 as well. And aggregate he was WBC champion for about 9 years, that's legendary accomplishments.
with all the belts that around in the 90s and even today you can start see and understand that george was worthy of title fights. foreman had a good chance to clip anyone and that is always what sells. mike was mostly a media hyped fighter, he had a brief moment when he was dedicated, but it was too brief to give him the edge over the great ones like a prime holmes, ali, foreman, lewis and maybe even frazier.

There may have been some bad blood when they were younger but it's good to see the two champions sitting and talking. I was never a big Larry Holmes fan mainly because I loved Muhammad Ali, but Larry had a great career. No one was beating the Mike Tyson of the mid to late 80's. I wish Mike had stayed with Kevin Rooney. I still say that the Mike Tyson in the 80's trained by Rooney would have beaten Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield. As for Buster Douglas, he could have just stayed in hotel room. It would have been over that fast.

It's very scientific and thats how damato created the style and tyson's muscle fiber twitching and speed was perfect to arouse that ideological style. HAd damato been alive ,he would have clearly created the best pound for pounder in history because he molded tyson to be 1 mile wide AND 1 mile deep.The problem was that his death along with jacobs and don king taking over with robin givens caused tyson to keep the mile wide but only 1 inch deep,pretty much sums it up in a nutshell.

with all the belts that around in the 90s and even today you can start see and understand that george was worthy of title fights. foreman had a good chance to clip anyone and that is always what sells. mike was mostly a media hyped fighter, he had a brief moment when he was dedicated, but it was too brief to give him the edge over the great ones like a prime holmes, ali, foreman, lewis and maybe even frazier.

Holmes has been in a unique position of being the young buck taking out the aging champion (Ali) only to later face another young buck when he was an aging legend. Call it Karma, but its also what makes life interesting. Mad respect to all these guys.
