The allergy part also seems like a quick way into another lawsuit for Uber . If your allergic to animals I strongly urge you to document all of this shit and keep it just in case. So sad. This company is disgusting.
Uber should ask the owners of those animals to upload paperwork and picture of the animals showing that it is a proper animal which is a dog and only a dog as a service animal who is licensed and has a picture then therefore it will be relevant otherwise anyone can say this is my service animal and you can prove it and if I can’t prove it, you ain’t getting in my car😂
In Pa no paperwork exists for service animals . All that’s required is the animal be trained in the tasks for support . No paper work exists!!!! So anyone can claim the animal is for support . Pa law also states only dogs and mini horses can be service animals ! Idk what your state laws are but I thought I’d share it !
I stopped doing uberX I start doing shop and pay and food delivery uberX not worth doing anymore I actually made more money on food delivery and shop and pay then uberX now
Uber can go screw themselves with this bull crap. No dog is getting into my vehicle, I was in the hotel industry for 30 years and people always tried to sneak their dogs into the hotel rooms and when you catch them, they come up with the bull excuses of a service or emotional crap. Just so everyone knows, if you have any doubt about a dog being a service animal, you are allowed to ask the owner "what type of service does the dog perform for them"
You're also allowed to kick them out if they're being unruly. It's very obvious to tell the real one from a fake one. I'm sorry people are assholes. This effects service dog handlers on a daily basis too. Legitimate service dogs are being attacked daily because these dogs are trained not to fight back and people think they can just bring a dog anymore and have no consequences. Well, those consequences left scars on my dog's face and put me in the hospital for 2 days. So I'm right there with you on the face
Uber and Lyft could work with lawmakers to establish a regulation requiring passengers with service animals to upload their documentation. This way, drivers would be informed before accepting a ride, allowing gig companies to allocate most of the fare to the driver without raising prices and still ensure legal compliance. This arrangement would benefit drivers who are comfortable with accommodating service animals and help them increase their earnings. It's important to distinguish between a service animal and a support animal. The former is specifically trained to assist the person, while the latter involves a doctor's note allowing the presence of an animal, even if it isn't trained to provide direct assistance.
They give you the option to accept or refuse but when you refuse, they force you to accept it or ban you. So, why the fck did they give me the option to refuse if they'll only force me to accept it? This is abusive.
There an easy solution to this problem. All these rideshare companies have to do is tell the drivers all the information upfront. There are plenty of drivers more than willing to take service animals. With the over saturation of drivers, 7 out of 10 drivers will take the ride. But it because of the deceitful practices these companies perform put drivers in dangerous situations.
Deceitful??? Our dogs are medical equipment not pets FEDERALLY. my dog acts as a cardiac and seizure monitor and does mobility. It's our means to live and they're only given as a last resort of treatment.
Yes, deceitful…not from you, but from the Rideshare company and their shady way to run their business. I truly respect ADA and people with REAL disabilities. But let’s take a look at the drivers side of the story: What if I have allergies to dogs? (or any other animal hair), one will start sneezing, then there comes the headache, one’s throat start to shrink and even breathing becomes a problem. What about that? These greedy Rideshare Companies don’t care for the passenger or the driver, they just want to cover themselves and avoid a law suit.
Crazy, i was doing lyft just today and got a customer who had a pet when i was getting close to her adress, i kept driving right by her and canceled no crate or anything. for a huge dog she looked pissed, I'm not bringing your dusty dog in my leather seats 😂😂😂
If it was a service animal, they are not pets, their medical equipment. We also carry lint rollers and blankets just in case, and our dog sit at your floorboard without moving because they are highly trained. Now typically we don't ever need the rent roller because we brushed and groom our dogs daily in accordance to the law for health code
You can ask the rider 2 questions. 1- is this animal needed because of a disability. 2- For which task is this service animal trained for. That's it. If the rider can't answer these questions properly you can report them for abusing Ubers service pet policy after you take them to their destination if you suspect their lying about the animal. Take them to avoid being deactivated. I carry a large beach towel, lent brush for hair, and air freshener just for the possibility of a service animal. I do not do Uber pet.
I can also say as a legitimate handler and trainer of these dogs. Very obvious to tell if it's real or not, by their behavior because these dogs are highly trained for years. Also because I take Uber to work everyday, I myself, carry a lint roller, and blanket Even though my dog is bathed and brushed daily. We respect the Uber drivers who actually take us. Because for some with multiple chronic illnesses like myself including seizures and syncope, I can't drive and it means a lot that someone is willing to get me to work to make a living. 💕
The Uber approach. If you do not comply with our conditions you will be punished. They are forcing conditions on drivers we should not have to accept. Uber's approach...If you have allergies, if you are afraid of dogs...tough luck. DRIVE !
I have no issue with Service Animals as they are very well trained and are probably better behaved than some of the entitled ones we carry everyday. No matter how well behaved, trained etc, there is and has to be a downtime following the trip to vacuum, clean seats/car for next passenger. Time to air it out and cologne sprayed to mask animal smells etc right? Depending on logistics, you may have to travel some distance to get to a safe, quiet location to perform this task. Who is paying for this? I hazard to guess, Uber will maintain their ludicrous service fee and further rape the driver! Love your work and appreciate all you do for us @AskTorsten :) . From Perth, Western Australia
I'm an independent contractor, I don't agree to this policy. If you want to bring your pet, order UBER PET, otherwise enjoy waiting for the next driver. 🤷
Just to play devil’s advocate…you can disagree with it all you want, but they have the right to update the Terms of your contract, and you have the right to not continue with the contract. But that would mean no more Uber for you. 🤷♀️
From the ADA WEBSITE : "Beginning on March 15, 2011, only dogs are recognized as service animals." These dogs are specially trained and pretty easily recognized as such. Uber's language should not imply that "most" service animals are dogs. According to the ADA they are all dogs. Any attempts by customers to claim otherwise should be promptly reported to Uber or Lyft. It's not that hard to tell the difference. I have had both and in both cases customer claims they are service animals; fairly easy to spot false ones.
The law can't make you put an animal in your personal property if you choose not. Most of these folks dogs are stinky and not service animals. They also have fleas and ticks. If you get lime disease you can't prove it was from a riders pet. Screw that folks. Go get a license to do something else where you get paid more. Let these greedy gluttons go
Screw that I don't care what uber says I WILL NOT take anyone's dog/animal in my car, they dont pay enough for me to compromise my vehicle's interior... one car has black leather and the other has white leather they can take that policy and shove it where the sun don't shine
This is complete BS, it’s no option “sign or don’t drive” WTF. If I am allergic to Dogs or my kids are allergic to Dog I still have to accept the rides? If I have fobia to Dogs or I am scare of Dogs, “fuck you deal with it” WTF, not to mention most of this requests the Dogs aren’t even service animal. This is just too much.
People need to wake up and stop driving. Let them go. McDonald's is paying 21 an hour without wear and tear on your car or gas money. If you just need a se one job.
It’s easy not to pick up riders with animals just stay 150 feet away from the pick up location and don’t let the app notify the rider but if the app notify the rider you can cancel and put rider behavior as the cancellation reason and they can’t report you and UBER will not know I do it every day 😂
Uber is like " fuk your allergies" to animals..LOL..IF HE DIES, HE DIES...💯..UBER is putting there foot down..Guess that Uber pet is not working so well..Uber doesn't care if they are a Service Animals or not..U better pick them up...Smdh!
Its the law, thats why they enforce it. We MUST allow service dogs.. all places of businesses have to. I do allow pets in my car.. but I think no one should be forced to. I had one that was fine.. until I put on the "required facemask", in covid times.. then it wanted to attack me. Dog slobber, puke, hair, piss, shit, all is a risk. I have had people tell that ubers get nearby, see the dog, take off and cancel.. it happens.. Its wrong on Uber's part to force people who have allergies, religions, or fears against dogs and pets..
95% aren't even service animals, passengers just don't want to pay for Uber Pets. They try to get in your vehicle with a filthy animal that has fleas and hasn't been in a bath in years. They should have to submit paperwork to Uber
What if if a driver goes into anaphylaxis due to an allergy of some kind bc Of this shit !!! There should be proper choices as contractors instead of forcing us!! 3000 some trips and I’ve only ever had One person with animals get in my car . He had his cat inside a crate and was very respectful and clean… however as a contractor I don’t want my right to choose to be taken from me ! Lastly even if you have a service animal if your animal isn’t in a crate you aren’t getting in my car ! Ever ever ever. Uber pet is staying off forever ! Trust that !
So my problem with this is that if I need to cancel the ride for any other legitimate reason I now am not able to because the rider will say I cancelled due to service animal even if I cancelled because they were rude. It gives the rider an out to do anything they want with the ability to say I cancelled due to service animal. This is not right. I don’t take animals. PERIOD UBER. I’ll take my chances f you.
I opted out the Uber Pet options in my services a few weeks ago. I couldn’t stand smelling and costly to clean a messy in my 23 tesla Model Y. I’ve noticed that I took less rides now. I guess I’d have to opt in again. 🤦♂️
You can ask what tasks it helps you with, part of ADA it has to have 2 tasks it performs to help you. Can’t ask what disability they have but can ask what it trained to do
You can say, is it a SERVICE ANIMAL, what service does it provide, if they say emotional support they fail the test, drive off, but there are websites that allow people to create fake diplomas for service animals, and buy fake service animal vests without doctor notes, so even if someone had a diploma it might be fake
@@BM-pt6syI could be mistaken, but I believe those are called "emotional support animals", which I don't think are the same as true service animals and they aren't trained to assist in any task, and basically almost any animal can be labeled that. There are web sites where all you have to do is pay a fee to get your pet listed as an emotional support animal.
Pa law also states if the dog is not able to controlled or the owner cannot maintain control over the animal you can legally ask them to remove the animal from a public place , however I don’t know if that gives a recourse in the car or if It’s considered a public place . It should be but I doubt it is .
This is why I don't do Uber/Lyft rideshare. Only deliver food. All these companies are abusive and don't give a damn about us drivers. I'm not dealing with picking up a drunk person vomiting in my car, a person who may kill me, animals who may destroy my car. Nope. Only Uber Eats with them.
I had a dog puke in my car. Uber did nothing after incident was reported. I once had a drunk guy poop 💩 his pants and poop juice got on my seat. Uber gave me 20.00.
I don’t believe any good driver would discriminate. They shouldn’t. Uber should educate us who you are, why you need a dog and preferably show proof that you are fully entitled to bring your dog. Just my opinion
@@AskTorsten That's not what I was asking brother. I'm a driver on Uber and Lyft both. I was talking about throwing a wrench in their system and bringing my pit as my service dog when I drive. Does their anti discrimination BS work both ways?
@@chuckmakesabuck129 very interesting question. Do they have double standards? I would try it but I would hate to see you get deactivated. What is good for the goose, should be good for the gander. Legally this should work both ways.
So i’m blind, and i travel with a guide dog. But i should get my own car. Then what? Higher a personal driver? Trust me, i would much prefer that. But with the 70% unemployment rate among blind people, due to employment discrimination. I don’t know how you expect us to afford, either a car, or a personal driver. Plus my highly trained, and well maintained dog, is less likely to cause damage to a vehicle, then a misbehaving kid would.
Its a ADA requirement and not just a policy imposed on us by uber and lyft. People do use the service animal thing as a excuse to bring them into the car. I had someone tell me their cat was a service animal. That was one well behaved cat though, walked on a leash and even sat in the owners lap the whole time and did not move one bit.
People that use uber pet, have well behaved dogs. People that try to get a pet in your car with uber x, the pet is usually Extremely big and sheds, Wont keep still and scratches, or wont shut up.
Professor. Lyft is coming back strong with the new app in my market Orlando Florida Impressive and price raise .I don’t see so many Lyft drivers in the airport queue in the past 5 years using thier platform.
Allergic to that animal. Can't take allergy medication most make you sleepy. Medication states don't operations heavy machinery when taking that medication.
Pa law states the only other animals besides dogs recognized as service animals are miniature horses. The link outlines when and how a service animal can be denied or asked to leave a public place . They must always be leashed etc etc . So In accordance with Pa law if you attempt to claim anything other then a mini horse or a dog is a service animal it’s a lie. However it also states there is no paper work process to prove an animals is a service animal , only that it be trained in the task. There is no paper work given to the animal . Meaning anyone can just claim the animal is a trained service animal .
What if you had picked up a rider on a pool trip then another rider joins the journey on pool as well and has an animal to bring along .What would a driver do if the first rider doesn’t want to share the ride with somebody with an animal ??
According to Uber Pool terms of service a pool rider can opt to bring another rider on their trip with them .If they select 1 seat and bring another along with them them the driver can change it to 2 seats through the app .So the same goes for an additional rider with a friend on their trip .So possibly 4 riders on an UberX trip So where are the animals going to fit in ??
I am really trying this with the Canadian Company that launched in Canada, but for some reason they are resisting the USA. I put 4 years of work into it and recruited 35,000 drivers for them. NOTHING. That discouraged me a bit, but yes you are 100% right, maybe we should just do this ourselves
The trash part of this is some of us are highly allergic to dogs/dog dander. So we are suppose to go into a fit and almost die to take these dogs? Even the pax that full on lie about their dog being a 'service animal'??
Also, emotional support animals are also considered as service animals and protected by the federal government. They are provided a tag that the animal should be wearing at all times that states it is a service animal.
Please don't spread illegal misinformation. ESA's only have housing rights in the United States. The type of misinformation can get a service dog and a handler killed. I spent 2 days in the hospital because of an emotional support animal jumping out of the cart to grab my dog by the face where? It's not even legally allowed to be in the first place, while I was unconscious because of my medical conditions in the floor and my dog was tasking to help me wake me back up. I'm very lucky that the dog was small but this is getting out of hand.
Except that it directly says on the ADA website. That ESAs are not considered service dogs, and are not afforded the same protections and rights that a service dog would have. Plus, there is no tags, badges, licenses, or any other paperwork, that makes a service dog.
One of the major things you are asking us as service dog handlers to do, is show drivers our paperwork. However, in the US, there is no paperwork. Legally, handlers do not need to show paperwork to any business. Plus, according to the ADA federal law, Since service dogs are unregulated, there is no paperwork that can be shown to prove a servicedog’s legitimacy. Not only that, but there are scam websites out there, that charge a fee, then send fake paperwork and documentation, so that a pet owner can bring their pet in public, and just pretend that their dog is a service dog. Which is absolutely against the law, but because it is unregulated, no one does anything about the scam websites. Another problem that exists, is that in many situations, the driver won’t give the handler the opportunity to show documentation. Where I live in Canada, businesses are legally allowed to ask to see our government issued service dog ID. If I were ever asked for this from a driver , I would be happy to show it. However, my friend that also has a service dog, gets denied rides all the time. Drivers won’t even stop once they notice her dog. So she has no opportunity to show their ID card at all. I honestly think that if a driver has a legitimate allergy, and their doctor signs off on it, that they should be exempt from transporting service dogs. I also feel for the drivers that have had to deal with, those pretending their dog is a service dog, or actual service dog handler’s that don’t maintain their dog as well as they should. It is not OK for a driver to be put in a situation where the dogs behaviour makes them feel threatened. Or when the dogs lack of grooming, causes the driver to need to clean their car extensively. However, some understanding upon the part of drivers, for what we as handlers go through would also be appreciated. because of my disability, I cannot drive myself. While I generally take public transit where I live, this is not always an option for everyone. Not to mention that a one-way trip in my city can take over two hours on Transit, and is it so hard to believe I would want to cut back on a four hour round trip, by taking a rideshare service, that might take me an hour round-trip. Despite my disability, I just want to be able to go about my life in as normal of a way as possible. One of the ways I am able to do this, is due to the safety that having my dog with me brings. I as a handler I am not trying to inconvenience you as a driver. But when the situation is broken down into its parts. Since my service dog is an extension of myself, and legally defined as medical equipment. When you deny me a ride because you don’t want the dog in your vehicle, what you are saying is that my disability is an inconvenience to you. Since anyone can join the disabled community at any time in their life, we always hope that there would be more understanding of someone’s needs. No, it is not OK when an animal, regardless of whether it is a service dog or not, to relieve in appropriately in a vehicle. However, neither is it acceptable for drivers to put the lives of handlers at risk. There has been many news stories covered of a handler talking to a driver through the door, as they are starting to open it. Then the driver decides to drive off, with the person holding on to the door handle. You not wanting to except a dog in your vehicle, is no reason to put someone’s life in danger by dragging them with your vehicle. I honestly don’t know what the solution is for these issues. It seems that both drivers, as well as service dog handler‘s, have issues with Uber’s policies. Drivers don’t like the fact that they must accept service dogs in their vehicles. And handler’s don’t appreciate being denied rides, and having Uber sweep the situation under the rug. It seems to me, that it shouldn’t be handlers and drivers fighting. But instead handlers and drivers working together, to make Uber change their policies.
I would fight that one star. They put you in the mat position, you got the asthma attack and then on top of it they believe that they can punish you with a one star rating. That is wrong on every level and shows how poorly their system is set up. Ideas… but never thinking about real world consequences. So sorry you had to go through all of that.
I picked up a service animal before, the trip came to me as a regular trip, not Uber Pet. If you have a service animal, shouldn't this be an Uber Pet trip? Providing an higher level of service to take a service animal isn't denial of service, is it? I had a dog on another trip that wasn't well groomed and had fleas in my car afterward.
I looked up info on what airlines do, they are required to transport service animals for free, but they can have requirements. Airlines verify service dogs by: Requiring a DOT Service Animal Air Transportation Form and a Service Animal Relief Attestation Form to be completed at least 48 hours before departure. Requiring an annual Department of Transportation form that attests to the service dog's health, behavior, and training. Looking for physical indicators such as harnesses, tags, or vests. Asking the individual with a disability if the animal is required to accompany them because of a disability and what work or task the animal has been trained to perform. Observing the behavior of the animal
Denying service animals is against the law but denying for other reasons is ok. Because I guarantee a lot of riders lie that their pet is a service animal. If I do take a pet at least have the riders use Uber Pet. So that I can at least get payed a few extra bucks. One time I did have to deny 4 riders in my Uber X vehicle of their 2 large dogs. I told them if you want to ride with your dogs then order an Uber XL. Because I count the dogs as 6 riders. My car only can fit 4 riders. And it sucks because this was during a busy time when I was surrounded by surge and when Uber were paying drivers better in 2022.
Last week my car was being repair so I went and rent a Tesla from uber and to my surprise uber don’t give you uber pet choice on their rentals but as soon as I return the car and start driving my car the sent me the service animal policy
But if drivers are considered independent contractors ,why do they have to obey Uber policies ,a new car goes to shit so fast ,it's not even worthy to get a new car,and when accepting service dogs drivers don't even get paid extras ,it's all the same price 😕,it's disgusting.sure wish this Uber/Lyft go out of business real soon.drivers arent making any money at all,all the money are going to them, from our expenses ,at the end of the year when its time to do the income taxes they said made this much, and its not even half, monthly gas. It's 1,200 times a whole year, insurance, car maintenance, car finance,at the end of the year 😢we all cry😮😮😮,being a Uber /Lyft driver is loke being slaves ,company takes it all, they take advantage , and no one is doing anything about it.wish yellow taxis will make a comeback, and all will be back to normal, at least taxi drivers could make money, this Uber/Lyft Companies ruined everything , drivers are working for peanuts, and all the money they go to these whatever they want to call themselves , they go to them 70% that's no joke 🤣,I'm glad when they get sued , they aren't good loving companies.
Look at the fine print, it states they wold not pay for a animal bathroom breaks in your car that’s @#$% crazy. But i think us drivers found a way around this like having doctor documents that show why you can’t have an animal in your car and Uber is piss and now forcing us drivers. Once a driver gets hurt with an animal in the car because Uber is forcing this on us, i want to see how this will play in court. Especially An animal that’s not a service animal.
If they have a snake, I won’t take them and snakes are not service animals. And if the passenger makes a false report that I actually can be punishable by law because it’s service animal fraud.
I don't understand do I need to accept every single pet offer on the app? If I don't accept a pet offer because of reasons unrelated to the service animal is that breaking the terms or does it only count after you accept the trip and refuse to the customers face when you see the animal? Someone please clarify.
My wife has a service dog. The first thing we do when ordering a ride is to message the driver that we have a service dog with us. It’s not required by law to tell the driver about the service dog, but its easier than you getting to us, and refusing us because of the dog. According to the ADA law, drivers need to accept the animal if the person says it’s a service animal. Doesn’t matter when they tell you.
My account was shut down last year because a passenger came into my car with a “service animal” and not knowing the rules I had just asked her if next time she could select the “Uber pet” option, so as drivers we know ahead of time. She went off on me and screamed that it wasn’t a pet. She ended up slamming my door and reaching out to Uber to get my account taken down. Uber was horrible with hearing my side of the story, and I was left high and dry. Is there any chance I can still fight to get my account back? Thanks
I don’t know why this company don’t want to look 👀 out for their drivers . It’s all about the money and the riders and meanwhile they know without drivers there will be no money. just GREEDY GREEDY. Let us pray 🙏 and keep our heads up things will get better soon. GOD WILLING
Why would a service dog bite you? You know how difficult it is for a dog to become a service dog? 1/100 dogs have the genetics and training to be a service dog. They've been trained for 2 years straight since birth before they're paired with a person
Its so fascistic lol, they use nice language, then the wording of the agreements sounds like hostage situation like u there slaves, like they say even if you AFARID, ALLERGIC u have to like WHAT???? Basically even if you going to die, better not reject, otherwise cant ride! this is why we need tor egulate rideshare like uber.
At this point though, is über disseminating these legal compliance request comparable to any other company claiming independent contractor relationship. I thought über was just a network and the driver is responsible for abiding by driving laws. They've added so many quirks, compliance request, and identity verifications on top of needing two hours minimum for every Chat conversation! I %100 do more for über than any other company has ever asked without benefits or a payment scale that reflects the amount of time/work put into it. Why does it take two hours to get payment as promised by uber/lyft?
Only my opinion and no disrespect to anyone. Uber should be looking for drivers that love all pets and animals. Give them their own platform to work from. Even make it a spin off from uber. All the other drivers could just have signs that says not qualified to carry any pets. You have to contact uber pet for that. Why is everyone being forced to accept things that do not work or cause more chaos and divisions among everyone? If uber want's to help the handicapped then provide a percentage of drivers that want to do that and leave everyone else alone. Being forced to comply with certain rules is totally why many of us left our jobs because we wanted more freedom. Now they are taking our freedom of choice away from us. Liars and cheaters always ruin everything and the hard working professional drivers pay the price.
This is the most absurd policy. How are you going to force riders due to possible, allergy, fear or religious objection to transport an animal in their personal car?! This is preposterous!
This should not be enforced upon anyone. There are transportation companies that offer services for people with disabilities and their dogs. I just feel that Uber and Lyft should not force drivers as well. The conditions they want us to agree to are unacceptable
I pick up service animals ( via UBER PET ) here in Virginia all the time. They will send me on some long pick ups and UBER pays me very well for that ride. It averages out to be about $60 a trip. The destination is usually only a few miles. I will do them all day long at that price point. Lol, think I'm the only driver in VA that does it.
This entire topic is insane, as a driver who's responsible for the safe transport from point a to b how can you assure the safety of the rider if you're behind the wheel and in a panic for your personal safety. I think legitimate service animals are trained and won't display certain aggression. Then there's the riders that brings their massive untrained pit bull or other dangerous breeds that are not service animals jumping all over your back seat slobbering or even attempting to jump to front, how does a driver guarantee a safe trip in that situation.
Yeah, my program dog is an American staffy. Service dogs can be any breed but you can tell the difference between a real and a fake one by their behavior. Our dogs are highly trained.
A real service animal will never show aggression. My dog was attacked by a fake and laid down at my feet to it. It was a small dog and she could have destroyed it. But she knows her training and what she's supposed to do and trust me to remove her from the situation
There's no legal standardized certificates or documentation for service dogs. Some programs I've worked with make them but it's not required. Service animals are typically one of few breeds by most programs. Service animal are only dogs and mini horses. What are you talking about with all this other bullshit?
The allergy part also seems like a quick way into another lawsuit for Uber . If your allergic to animals I strongly urge you to document all of this shit and keep it just in case. So sad. This company is disgusting.
this. why does someones disability supercede mine?
Uber should ask the owners of those animals to upload paperwork and picture of the animals showing that it is a proper animal which is a dog and only a dog as a service animal who is licensed and has a picture then therefore it will be relevant otherwise anyone can say this is my service animal and you can prove it and if I can’t prove it, you ain’t getting in my car😂
It's a good idea but it's forbiden by law 😅
In Pa no paperwork exists for service animals . All that’s required is the animal be trained in the tasks for support . No paper work exists!!!! So anyone can claim the animal is for support . Pa law also states only dogs and mini horses can be service animals ! Idk what your state laws are but I thought I’d share it !
Yes Uber should pre-vet service animals
I agree. Those specific riders should certify
Brilliant idea
I thought support animals can be refused by drivers & they aren't allowed in grocery stores, restaurants, etc
There's no documentation. There would need to be laws for that first. There are no standardized certificates or proof.
@@saucecastillo460service animal is not an ESA
They give you the option to accept or refuse but when you refuse, they force you to accept it or ban you. So, why the fck did they give me the option to refuse if they'll only force me to accept it? This is abusive.
EXACTLY. Basically forcing you to accept or....extremely abusive and aggressive approach with zero regards to the bigger picture. Thank you. Spot on
So as a driver, does Uber allow you to bring your service animal with you while driving?
I have the same question
I will get one, officially. Just because of this bs.
Thank you. Amen. Many drivers will not agree and do not want to be forced into situations. I appreciate your feedback
@@AskTorsten I'm not risking my health for your animal. That's some entitled BS. How dare these people, the law is broken and needs to be fixed.
Legit service animals are legally required to be hypoallergenic (not to cause allergic issues), but random pets is a shit show.
Just to play devil’s advocate…you can disagree with it all you want, but they have the right to update the Terms of your contract, and you have the right to not continue with the contract. But that would mean no more Uber for you. 🤷♀️
If Uber wants to play that game I play the game of cancelling the ride for safety reasons. They can’t prove that I cancelled due to animal. F them.
Let these greedy gluttons go
What's funny is we don't receive government subsidies so should be private and it should be up to us.
Thank you
Screw that I don't care what uber says I WILL NOT take anyone's dog/animal in my car, they dont pay enough for me to compromise my vehicle's interior... one car has black leather and the other has white leather they can take that policy and shove it where the sun don't shine
Almost 10 times out of 10, the rider does NOT have a service animal, it’s just their pet and they’re making you take them! Total horseshit
People need to wake up and stop driving. Let them go. McDonald's is paying 21 an hour without wear and tear on your car or gas money. If you just need a se one job.
Newson just signed the law, those golden arches are looking damn good
It’s easy not to pick up riders with animals just stay 150 feet away from the pick up location and don’t let the app notify the rider but if the app notify the rider you can cancel and put rider behavior as the cancellation reason and they can’t report you and UBER will not know I do it every day 😂
Good to know lol , my car is not a zoo!
@@DjTriniyankee every time I pull up and see a dog at the curve cancel the ride and drive off
When you see the dog as you are arriving suddendly i get the diarrea 😂
Uber is like " fuk your allergies" to animals..LOL..IF HE DIES, HE DIES...💯..UBER is putting there foot down..Guess that Uber pet is not working so well..Uber doesn't care if they are a Service Animals or not..U better pick them up...Smdh!
Basically you can't ask the rider for proof that the animal is a service animal but you can ask the rider if the animal helps which is ridiculous.
If youre allergic and scared you must agree? Sheesh! Shameful!
That is simply not right and I believe they will get into trouble 👿 making that conditional.
95% aren't even service animals, passengers just don't want to pay for Uber Pets. They try to get in your vehicle with a filthy animal that has fleas and hasn't been in a bath in years. They should have to submit paperwork to Uber
What if if a driver goes into anaphylaxis due to an allergy of some kind bc
Of this shit !!! There should be proper choices as contractors instead of forcing us!!
3000 some trips and I’ve only ever had
One person with animals get in my car .
That's not a service animal if it's in a crate and cats aren't service animals
Can’t ask what disability they have but can ask what it trained to do
They'll just say emotional support and anxiety relief.
Thank you for the feedback
@@BM-pt6sy that would be a esa which is NOT a service animal, and not legally covered.
I still find it crazy and they can’t up the price also
Pa law also states if the dog is not able to controlled or the owner cannot maintain control over the animal you can legally ask them to remove the animal from a public place , however I don’t know if that gives a recourse in the car or if It’s considered a public place .
CHARGE A PET DEPOSIT. AND AN AGREEMENT IS NOT A CONTRACT. PROBLEM SOLVED. ITS AN “AGREEMENT” BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO AUTHORITY OVER PRIVATE PROPERTY.
Uber wants us to have nice and clean cars but still we get punished if we refuse to take animals, dirty laundry or stinky and dirty riders
As a veteran with PTSD, can I get my pit certified and take her with me as I DRIVE? Can Uber discriminate against drivers with such conditions?
More then one service animal........😳
It happened to me at the airport it was a couple and they had two dogs, I was like..🤨🤔
People with service animals should pay extra or get their own car. Who’s going to clean up the mess and pay for damage dogs cause
It's illegal to charge the passenger more for having a service animal.
Service animals tend not to leave the messes like others.
@@lifeofrichardand guess who made that illegal..
How the fuck is a blind person or a person with mobility issues supposed to drive?
Let the person with the dog know, hey i have severe allergy to dogs do you want to gamble that we wont crash mid ride or do you want to cancel 😅
Oh. And second thing, anybody can deny a dog IF, AND ONLY IF, thst dog is misbehaving or out of control
What if you had picked up a rider on a pool trip then another rider joins the journey on pool as well and has an animal to bring along .What would a driver do if the first rider doesn’t want to share the ride with somebody with an animal ??
Pool trips are only one seaters, service animals count as a person in the eyes of uber so no uber share for them
According to Uber Pool terms of service a pool rider can opt to bring another rider on their trip with them .If they select 1 seat and bring another along with them them the driver can change it to 2 seats through the app .So the same goes for an additional rider with a friend on their trip .So possibly 4 riders on an UberX trip
So where are the animals going to fit in ??
I got this message while I was out driving. I didn’t have time to read everything and had no choice but to click okay if not I couldn’t continue
My service animal is a full grown tiger, she is very wet trained
People with service animals should be forced to upload documentation to prove they are legit. Too many scammers with fake service vests.
But the rider is 100% legally responsible for ANY damage or injury their service dog causes
Professor …you seem to be a smart businessman and building a community, you should start a new rideshare that puts these guys under…
I am really trying this with the Canadian Company that launched in Canada, but for some reason they are resisting the USA. I put 4 years of work into it and recruited 35,000 drivers for them. NOTHING. That discouraged me a bit, but yes you are 100% right, maybe we should just do this ourselves
@@AskTorsten There is a new company in Arizona that charges a small flat fee monthly and drivers keep 100% of the fare.

The trash part of this is some of us are highly allergic to dogs/dog dander. So we are suppose to go into a fit and almost die to take these dogs? Even the pax that full on lie about their dog being a 'service animal'??
Only dogs and miniature ponies can be legitimate service animals
We are about as Independent as a Dog locked in a kennel
Why is Uber pets even a feature? Total bs. I had a kid trying to bring 2 pitbulls and one without a leash and not even a collar I said no!
I think that 99% of the drivers reject Uber Pet. Not worth the extra $3
Hi professor how are you doing?
Also, emotional support animals are also considered as service animals and protected by the federal government. They are provided a tag that the animal should be wearing at all times that states it is a service animal.
Thank you for the feedback
@@AskTorstenHe's wrong. That is illegal misinformation
No they're not. What are you talking about?.
Uber is Not that great of a job for them to be making all of these demands!
some people lie some dogs are very rude and dangerous they are not service animals
some animals miss up and make the car very smelly
I had a passenger lie to me about one and I almost passed out from an asthma attack on the freeway at 70
I am very sorry to hear that. This is what Uber is not taking into consideration.
@@AskTorstenafter that, they gave me a 1 star because they were mad that I got sick after insisting that I take them. You are so correct though.
Airlines verify service dogs by:
Requiring a DOT Service Animal Air Transportation Form and a Service Animal Relief Attestation Form to be completed at least 48 hours before departure.
I thought uber pet was made for this specific reason. Now they're trying to slide it thrue X 😅
Last week my car was being repair so I went and rent a Tesla from uber and to my surprise uber don’t give you uber pet choice on their rentals but as soon as I return the car and start driving my car the sent me the service animal policy

Uber should ask for documents before they are into the platform, or they must prove or not use there platform
If they have a snake, I won’t take them and snakes are not service animals. And if the passenger makes a false report that I actually can be punishable by law because it’s service animal fraud.
Some people have like animal of service ,
PIGs,DONKEYS,Horas,Snakes,Spiders
It's criminal with the drivers
I drive off. They can’t prove I denied them for a dog
Thanks

Sad for those with deadly allergies
What if I’m allergic to dogs?
Show me the law
Uber you are wrongful to force this on us driver, i think!
This should not be enforced upon anyone. There are transportation companies that offer services for people with disabilities and their dogs. I just feel that Uber and Lyft should not force drivers as well. The conditions they want us to agree to are unacceptable

What if I as a driver need my service animal?
Okay? That's fine.
I have
There's no legal standardized certificates or documentation for service dogs. Some programs I've worked with make them but it's not required.
Service animals are typically one of few breeds by most programs. Service animal are only dogs and mini horses. What are you talking about with all this other bullshit?
Dogs have discharge from the private area sometime people are let the animal to seat where people are sitting that’s not good I don’t like it
Isnt having a dog allergy a disability? Possibly life threatening? Why put yourself at risk for anaphylactic shock for $5?
Uber can go kick rocks. I’m so done with screwber. We the drivers have no rights.
