  • Gale Garnett ia a New Zealand-born Canadian singer-songwriter and actress who made guest appearances on the 1960's television show '77 Sunset Strip'. She also pursued a singing career and in 1964 she had a No. 4 pop hit with the self-penned song "We'll Sing In The Sunshine". The B-side is another tune she wrote, called "Prism Song".
Gale also gave notable performances in the late-1960's Rankin-Bass film Mad Monster Party with the memorable tunes "Our Time to Shine" and "Never Was a Love Like Mine." Around this time she became more influenced by the counterculture, and had embraced psychedelic themes. She recorded two albums of psychedelic-inflected music with her band the Gentle Reign.
Even after retiring in the 1980's, she continued to make guest appearances on television shows and in 2002 she appeared in the sleeper hit 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding'.

rare for singer songwriter to make a hit almost 1st time at bat, especially in 64 and a women. Very few come to mind like Carol King. thanks for sharing take care

I feel the same way. I heard the song recently and immediately knew that I had to feature it in a video. Thanks for being a loyal viewer and commenter. 👍

Did this a few months back on Obscuria - I have always loved this song. It was "my song" whenever I would get cranky as a small child, and I have very fond memories of it to this day. Didn't care for Helen Reddy's remake much; it wasn't bad, but wasn't the original. Love the flip side too! I never knew she was an actress until she appeared in the mid-80s Canadian action drama "Danger Bay", I was so shocked to see her on there....surprised the hell out of me. Thanks so much for this, Robert!

Heard this one many, many times in my youth. Great tune!
The mean nun never played this one. She wasn’t a sing in the sunshine kind of gal!
Gale was cute! Never saw a photo before.
Thanks for the memory lane moment, Rob.

Just a tidbit of information. I say this with all due respect for this poor soul, who obviously did not create her career path. He is like many before and almost all since. He was born male. This should explain a lot of things. It also explains the sadness that exudes from him, not to mention the very heavy Contralto voice that no manner of hormones can hide. I feel very sad for this person, BUT this should open your mind for what's about to (actually is happening) take place. Your soon to find out that ALL of the celebs are in this condition.

@@timhedges4125 Not meant to be weird. Just speaking the truth. Go back and look, most aren't the sex they were born. Did you think this transgender movement just started??
