    I’ve been looking for a new blanket to make for my newest granddaughter 😍 I’m sure that I’ll make her several different blankets seeing how she’s going to be my last grandchild! It’s a miracle she & my daughter made it through the emergency C-Section, she was 10 weeks premature and spent a month in the NICU before she was able to finally came home! She’s got twin brothers and the oldest brother then a sister who’s 5 going on 25! I’ve already have the beautiful yarn 🧶 to make this blanket and I’ll most likely make her sister the same blanket just larger. Thanks for sharing this beautiful blanket!

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      How exciting! For a border, you can add whichever border you’d like. I decided not to add one to this blanket. However, if you wanted to add a border, I usually use a simple single crochet border. You could also try a herringbone half double crochet border. This is the border I used for my Suzette baby blanket. I hope that helps! Happy holidays!!🎄

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s possible, but I’m not sure. If it’s too stretched out, I don’t think blocking would help. I suggest going down a hook size for your next blanket if you notice your tension is loose.

    Beautiful design! If I was to make this blanket for my great-grandmother on her 90th birthday, and I wanted to make a throw blanket for when she gets chilly while sitting outside or on the couch, how many cakes would you use? @AmandaCrochets  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, I've never used cakes, your colour changes look neat, if I was to make a throw size blanket, would the colours change along the rows,( mid row) sorry I'm not making myself very clear

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! I understand what you mean. The best advice I can give regarding cake yarns is this: I try and match the centers of my cakes up. I also try and make sure the color changes look the same on each cake. This doesn't always happen, but if you try and get matching centers, I noticed the color changes seem to look even enough. If this doesn't happen nicely, I usually take apart the cake and grab the colors that I need. A little bit of hassle, but it's worth it to get a nice clean look to your project. I hope that makes sense :)

    I can't get over how much this stitch is like the Suzette stitch. Am I wrong just thinking the only big difference is that you count the chain one as a single crochet where you don't count the chain one as a single crochet when you do the Suzette stitch?

    • @Pitoonya
      @Pitoonya 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm currently doing an afghan using the Suzette stitch...its exactly the same except what you just explained about the ch 1 being used as the 1st sc. But this is definitely the Suzette. Maybe it has two names?

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, this is a very similar stitch to the Suzette stitch. Many crochet stitches are similar, but might just be called different names. The only difference is the beginning of each row as you mentioned.

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I've come across different crochet stitches that are the same, but have different names. Another example of this is the moss stitch and granite stitch.

    When I do my first chain, I’m following the exact steps but when I look at it, the bumps that should be on the back somehow also show up in the front so my stitches look great up to a certain part but then the flat part ends in the back and bumps in front! Why is that and what can I do assure my first chain stays consistent with the v’s in the front and bumps in the back

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you make your chains, it can be a little difficult to keep your chain from twisting. To keep it more consistent, I usually hold the chains right under where I’m working. I also move my hands up as I make more chains as well. Hope that answers your question 😊

      It all depends on how fast you can crochet. I believe this took me about a week to a week and a half to complete. It’s a one row repeat, so it works up quickly. 😊

    What is the difference between Suzette and grit stitch?

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  ปีที่แล้ว

      The two stitches are very similar, but the difference is how they're started. The grit stitch is a chain multiple of 2+1 and the Suzette stitch is a chain in any even number. Hope the helps a little!

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would maybe try 163 chains and measure to see if that’s the width you need. You can also change up the sizing by making a chain in a multiple of 2 and adding 1 additional chain to the very end. To make your blanket length longer, you will simple crochet more rows. Hope that helps!
