Ford C Series Heil Formula 5000 Leaf Collection

City of Turlock collecting leaf piles with their 1990 Ford C Heil Rear Loader. This truck was completely unexpected and found on luck. This was all we got since we were on a tight schedule and had to get going. This was my first time seeing this process done, and its actually really enjoyable to watch. Wish we had gotten more, but this will have to do. Thanks to the friendly crew as well

These old Ford C's are getting more and more charming by the day. It had been a while since I've seen one moving and it just brought a warm bit of nostalgia over my soul watching it. Thanks Mike. :)

lol some places even in the desert areas you will find 2-3 foot deep piles of leaves against walls and in culd de sacs and whatnot. All depends on what types of trees were planted years ago by the cities when they were developing the areas. WM even has a separate leaf collection truck in Palmdale, CA. Its a Mack MR Amrep Hardox FL and they go around pulling bags of leaves out of carts and off the curbs to prevent the yardwaste trucks from filling up twice as fast during fall.

Sweet vid, the unexpected finds are always the best. The C series is a favorite to most, myself included. Looks great paired with another older F5000,they seem to be all over Cali. The loader looks cool too, must be pretty old.

Nice to see a C Series garbage truck in action... the only C Series truck I've ever seen in action before is a water truck lol not so exciting. Great catch though. Like how the truck's got a raised hopper so the blade doesn't make a huge mess with all those leaves. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is it Palo Alto that has a front loader modified with a Tink claw in place of forks?

My town picks up my leaves the same way using a Tink Claw, but they use dump trucks with us. I guess using this truck is fine because I assume they only use it with leaf collection, correct?
